ARCHIVED Letter From Dentist To Dental Patient With Ai Suspicions What Should It Say?
IrishHeart replied to 1desperateladysaved's topic in Doctors
But the study also states: None of the patients was diagnosed because of enamel defects....in other words, in some patients, dental problems are an issue, but they are not the sole symptom nor were they diagnosed because of it. -
ARCHIVED Letter From Dentist To Dental Patient With Ai Suspicions What Should It Say?
IrishHeart replied to 1desperateladysaved's topic in Doctors
This is a Canadian celiac association educating the dentists about it. That's okay. This it NOT a letter for dentists to give to patients. Two different things. -

The woman who we rented from while waiting for our house to be finished is an acupuncturist. she offered to do a "live blood cell analysis" for me to diagnose what may be wrong with me (she had just learned how to do it and was very excited to try it) and I said "No thanks." She pressed me with "but I could help you with your health!" Little did this... -

Let me know how that KFG creme brulee works out. toots!. I may do it next Saturday. For those looking for a delicious gratin, this is pretty good! the hubs--a potato-lover (yeah,. no Irish stereotype thing happening there lol) loves this thing: http://www.cookscountry.com/recipes/7799-potato-tomato-gratin But our all-time favorite gratin is... -
ARCHIVED Letter From Dentist To Dental Patient With Ai Suspicions What Should It Say?
IrishHeart replied to 1desperateladysaved's topic in Doctors
agree, but then again, we have a plethora of people "diagnosing" with celiac and NCGS : chiropractors, acupuncturists, naturopaths, internet charlatans. I think if a dentist notices dental enamel damage, there's really no harm in suggesting to the parents that something may be amiss. -
ARCHIVED Letter From Dentist To Dental Patient With Ai Suspicions What Should It Say?
IrishHeart replied to 1desperateladysaved's topic in Doctors
If you want to alert your dentist, tell him dental enamel defects in CHILDREN is a celiac symptom. That way, if he sees these signs in the children he treats, he may mention it to the parents. (but the idea of a letter seems alarmist and unnecessary to me. ) "Not all dental enamel defects are caused by celiac disease, although the problem is fairly... -

I agree ....probiotics are beneficial and will not effect test results at all. And big kudos to your GI for being "enlightened". -
ARCHIVED Pete's Coffee Question
IrishHeart replied to mommyto2kids's topic in Food Intolerance & Leaky Gut
But, this is not an article discussing gluten cross contamination of coffee, it is about coffee sweeps and regulations...and it is from 1989. However, because of the traditional manner in which these sweeps have been handled, the fact the beans will undergo further processing, and the nature of the adulteration, FDA in its discretion, will permit... -
ARCHIVED I Had A Dexa Scan Today. I Am In Limbo On The Results
IrishHeart replied to 1desperateladysaved's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
Hate to point this out, but I think like a scientist. If you do not have a baseline DEXA, you have nothing to compare your results to. You actually have no way of knowing if you ever had osteopenia or osteoporosis. Your bone density may have been perfectly fine, gluten free or not. Not everyone suffers from a loss of bone density, no matter... -

At my bridal shower (the first marriage to Barney Rubble back in the stone age) someone gave me an unmarked box, no card and I opened it and it was a "dirty words game". Hilarious! You know the kind I mean..letters that were magnetized so you could spell risque stuff out on the fridge? The person I thought gave it to me has denied it for 31 years. No... -

I made this pineapple upside downer following Ski's suggestions for a family dinner party. Hubs and his Aunt Annie (you all know about her--the manhattan-loving gal? lol) LOVE pineapple upside down cake and I confess, I had never eaten it in my entire life. I had a box of KA G F yellow cake mi in my pantry and did what Ski says here and it was a huge... -
Oh honey.. you're sweet.... but your "keep moving" and my "keep moving" are totally different. I do yoga poses, not a Bikram challenge, I suspect you are much younger and have never had a surgery yet. While my spirit is willing and I am flexible, my damaged body has different ideas. Don't kill yourself if you are still in healing mode.

ARCHIVED I Gave Up Waiting For Insurance Approval...
IrishHeart replied to Georgia-guy's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
I triple that idea. Have the doctor's office concur that it is celiac so you have paperwork to show there was justification for the test and a diagnostic code! Worth a try! -

Read the book Real Life With Celiac Disease by Melinda Dennis and Daniel Leffler. Don't read a bunch of malarkey on the internet. People have some strange ideas about what to do after diagnosis. New Planet, Bard's pretty good. I drink vodka myself. Jovial and Barilla gluten-free pastas are good. you got this. Just take it one day at a time... -
You may have osteoarthritis. I do. Sometimes, my fingers, and all my joints (esp, hips) hurt quite a bit and sometimes, I do not notice them hurting at all. It depends on the weather, repetitive use, if I got glutened, that sort of thing. I had OA develop long before my C D diagnosis, but I am pretty sure C D came first. OA is a tag-along with celiac...

ARCHIVED Next Steps After Dx?
IrishHeart replied to Christina.V's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
I mention this here: https://www.celiac.com/forums/topic/91878-newbie-info-101/ and read Real Life With Celiac Disease by Melinda Dennis and Daniel Leffler and Gluten Freeedom by Alessio Fasano, MD be your own best advocate! most docs do nothing after Dxing you. (I got lucky when I searched and found my new GI)!) -
If you are feeling fine post-diagnosis, your disease is in remission, so I do not see how on earth that would disqualify you. You are not depending on them to feed you. Celiac isn't contagious. The wording is "may", not "definitely will" disqualify you. Get yourself a note from your doctor saying you are dietary compliant --and have no active...

ARCHIVED Psychedelics Changed My Life.
IrishHeart replied to JamieRmusic's topic in Introduce Yourself / Share Stuff
Honestly, I take no stock in shamans, but if you say it helped you, who am I to say otherwise? I look at life differently, that's all. I am considerably older than you and I do not want to "get rid of my experiences"--even the traumatic ones--and I have no regrets. Even my screw ups made me who I am. I did some really stupid s$#& in my youth, but who... -
ARCHIVED Share Your Fav Late Night Snacks!
IrishHeart replied to Christina.V's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
When I feel like I want something late at night but I know it's not a good idea to have a sugary something or other because then I would be wired like a 2 year old, I have a handful of Snyder's G F pretzels. I have been known to dip them ( just a tad) in peanut butter. and maybe have a cup of decaf tea with it. For me, that takes away the salt... -
