I have said it (but with swear words). Yes, your rat poison analogy also works. My husband usually says strychnine. -

Hon, you want my very best advice about this whole thing? Say it once to everyone and never explain yourself again. "Gluten tried to kill me. I can't eat it. Not a single speck. Understand? " Then, smile .......and let it go. -

ARCHIVED "how Sensitive Are You?"
IrishHeart replied to BlessedMommy's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Honestly, no. I do not know a single person in my life who would ask me if I would purposefully eat food that's been contaminated with gluten. No one I know would ask such a stupid question of me. -

That's about as good as it gets for those of us who require a gluten free diet. -
ARCHIVED Healing The Nerve Pain - Foods To Eat, Foods To Avoid?
IrishHeart replied to cristiana's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
Anyone I know who took Lyrica gained a large amount of weight, had facial, feet and hand swelling and did not report any significant change in their symptoms. Maybe generic gabapentin may help--in small doses--but you must know that any medication is not without side effects. -

oh man, I wanted to see what it was..!! I thought there would be pictures! what? don't look at me like that K.....lol I am like BONES. Forensic stuff is cool. lol Could be mucus. This is not a bad thing, but it does warrant a mention to the doc. He may have you do a stool sample testing so the lab can take a look at it. Unless it is crawling... -
ARCHIVED Healing The Nerve Pain - Foods To Eat, Foods To Avoid?
IrishHeart replied to cristiana's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
I know that my friend with postherpetic neuralgia used them. (I had no luck with them because I would have had to cover my entire body) and she put them right on the spot that felt burny. You could maybe try being super strict for a while--2 weeks--and see if it helps? I do not think you are "doing anything wrong", honestly, i just think it may... -
ARCHIVED Unexpected Symptoms During Gluten Challenge
IrishHeart replied to Kelsie's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
It does not mean it will take that long for you to get answers--it just means that statistically, that has been the norm. Things have changed a lot in the last few years and the diagnostic protocol has been the key reason for why the number of celiacs has risen. The symptoms you initially describe could result from any number of things: lactose intolerance... -
ARCHIVED Healing The Nerve Pain - Foods To Eat, Foods To Avoid?
IrishHeart replied to cristiana's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
The painful burning nerve pain I had took some time to die down. Sorry. My entire body was in flames. I wish I could give you a definite answer for what can turn that off because I know it hurts, but my GI doc and I consulted several neurologists and spine specialists and they said the same thing. If it is going to resolve, it will be because of time... -
ARCHIVED Unexpected Symptoms During Gluten Challenge
IrishHeart replied to Kelsie's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
I am the kind of person who believes there are no coincidences, hon. Your symptoms speak volumes. Sorry you are in increased pain. What did your blood test say? (I may have missed your history on other posts) If your blood panel is positive and you have a positive celiac gene test, some docs will skip the biopsy if you cannot take it anymore... -

ARCHIVED Glutino Crackers
IrishHeart replied to orlandoiam's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Please do. I asked a fellow celiac (who is also Canadian) what he knows about the Glutino company and he replied: Some Glutino product production is outsourced, but it is my understanding that all are produced in dedicated gluten-free facilities. IIRC, the pretzels are made in Israel. The bakery in Laval (N of Montreal) is a dedicated gluten... -

ARCHIVED Imprisonment - Choosing Starvation Over Bread?
IrishHeart replied to esgal's topic in Introduce Yourself / Share Stuff
Today, there are only five communist countries in the world. China, Cuba, Laos, Vietnam and North Korea They do not want Christian missionaries and she would hardly be allowed in. Again, I do not think any Christian group would put someone in harm's way like that--especially if she has a medical condition. ESgal, not sure if you are looking... -
They never bothered me and I am pretty sensitive to trace CC.

Not sure what faith you are talking about, but anyone can ask for a different place for their mission. No organized religion I know would put anyone at risk that way. -
Why would I ever fill up on bread anyway (never did before DX!!) when Ii am looking to savor a few appetizers, a few courses, wine and dessert? and cappucino and possibly dessert wine or port.?

ARCHIVED Not Sure Whether To Continue A gluten-free Diet...
IrishHeart replied to kellysensei's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
But, maltodextrin is gluten free and the small amount of wheat grass in a multi is not going to cause much of a problem. "Pure wheat grass and barley grass (just the grass, with absolutely no seeds) do not contain gluten. In fact, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration, in its finalized Open Original Shared Link, has said that wheat grass and barley grass... -
