Just to add to what I said, I see that Jules Shepard spoke to Dr. Fasano about this and she writes: "As predicted, the media have latched onto a new study which they say shows that non-celiac gluten sensitivity (NCGS) may not exist at all, and thus that gluten-free for anyone but diagnosed celiacs is just a fad. In anticipation of this media response, I...

ARCHIVED I'm Hungry!
IrishHeart replied to cindyb1's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
I am not sure where the gluten was hiding (too many variables to figure out where/how) but I will tell you this: your doctor is wrong if he thinks the biopsy will be valid after being off gluten for 9 months. Sorry, hon. Consuming gluten for blood tests and biopsy is required. Maybe if it were 3-6 months, but it may not give you a positive result now. ... -

no, you're not lmao -
Well, let’s look at this rationally. The study was peer-reviewed and published. The conclusions of the study…. warrant further investigation. That’s it. “The problems lie in the complexity of wheat and the ability of its carbohydrate as well as protein components to trigger gastrointestinal symptoms, the potentially false assumption that response to a gl...

ooooh, ok, this is where I get to say "I told ya so" but I won't. LOL You're going to feel better. I can hoestly say that the PT and MT was what got me out of extreme pain and back in the game. You have to make pain to get out of pain, though, sorry. It's part of the healing process and the retraining of the muscles, getting the nerves to stop misfiring... -

ARCHIVED Trouble With Culturelle Probiotic
IrishHeart replied to CajunChic's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
I never had trouble with culturelle, but maybe you just have an issue with that brand for some reason. I only used that when I had D in the beginning because yes, lactobacillus GG is targeted for D. Ever try Florajen 3? -
ARCHIVED I Was Doing Well, Then...
IrishHeart replied to veryami1's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
MSG always bothered me. Most food additives do. celiacs may have additional intolerances, but even people without celiac have a tough time with MSG I get the big D yes and sometimes migraines, General puffiness (sometimes followed by Major Spacyness) You have a mish-mash of possible causes, but honestly, the antibiotics always mess with a body... -

IrishHeart replied to veryami1's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
You are newly Dxed. Your gut is still raw, so kimchee and alcohol can be very abrasive. (even in a non-celiac's gut!) (1) Antibiotics can wreak havoc in anyone's guts too. AntiBs and alcohol---yeah, that would do it. Sorry, hon. Not sure how long the course of anitBs is....but make sure you take probiotics to counter them. (2) MSG always bites... -
ARCHIVED Glutened By Now Foods Supplement?
IrishHeart replied to sastolar's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
here's what I have read and she quotes Tricia Thompson, RD a reputable source. Only you can decide what's best for you. "while wheat grass and barley grass in their pure forms are considered gluten-free, it matters how they're harvested and how products containing them are produced. For example, if a farmer allows some of the grasses to begin producing... -

ARCHIVED Glutened By Now Foods Supplement?
IrishHeart replied to sastolar's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
I have used NOW food vitamins and supplements and never had a reaction from gluten. Shared facility is not the same as shared lines. (that's something I would never do) It could be the ingredients in the supplement. We can be intolerant of any number of things and the capsules may contain something that just does not agree with you. If you're... -
ARCHIVED Is Newsprint Paper Gluten Free (For Eating)?
IrishHeart replied to lily-b's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Paper does not contain gluten. If you have pica, you likely have a lack of certain nutrients or a deficiency, such as anemia or zinc deficiency. I don't think worrying about whether it is gluten free or not is your major concern, but rather why you are eating newspaper at all. The biggest concern is it could lead to an obstruction in your bowel...
