  1. Stephanie From the many posts I have seen you comment on through the years, I know what a diligent and careful Mom you are, so I am sure he's not getting gluten somehow. He is eating, which is good. If he were turning down food or not keeping it in somehow, I'd be more concerned, but I am neither a doctor nor (sadly) a mother, so maybe others have more...
  2. Thanks to the Mex cartels and crap weather. The fruit stand peeps (who get some of their produce from there) are none too thrilled. I've been getting 4 for a buck until last week. One is now .79 and J had to squeeze that sucker with pliers to get anything out of it.
  3. DItto I was thinkin.....if you use triple sec, you would not need "orange cake mix" as I would think that would be "orangey" enough. There's always orange extract??. and for the love of mike, you chicks are killin me with the cakes....I'll just have the Rita as we call them 'round here. Hand made, no mixes, the old fashioned way.

  8. Maybe you could make it a leisurely trip for you and the hubs some day, hon. The food is excellent and they really are celiac-friendly. It's worth it to go and have a cocktail, relax and dine without holding your breath in the entire time worrying it's going to bite you on the arse later.

  10. I just came back from dinner at Bonefish grill. I love going there, they always take good care of me. A great place for gluten-free SAFE dining. After I ordered, she asked “do you want bread?” I looked at her like she had a trout swimming out of her forehead. “Bread? why would I want that, hon? I told you, I have celiac” Giving her my best smile…. She s...
  11. That may be true (all things seem possible, I suppose) but the fact remains. No gluten in the product. People who are very sensitive to gluten are saying "I have used it and it's not a problem" We could argue "possibilities" all day long", I suppose. But I'm not willing to do that. I gave up arguing. It's great for reducing stress.
  12. and PS I used Frank's to make wings for super bowl. No problem whatsoever and I am pretty sensitive to gluten. and their website says this: : Yes, Frank's RedHot Original, XTRA Hot, Buffalo Wings Sauce, Chile 'n Lime™, Hot Buffalo Wings Sauce, Kickin' BBQ Sauce, Sweet Chili Sauce and Ketchup Style Sauce are gluten free. None of the ingredients u...
  13. after he tested positive for sensitivities to wheat and yeast, and gave them up While at his office, I took a food sensitivity test (it tests 96 foods and only cost $139 - definitely worth it). I keep posting this information for people, but no one seems to take heed. THERE ARE NO VALID TESTS FOR FOOD SENSITIVITIES. Sorry. Open Original...
  14. Addy is giving you the plain truth.. "The number one frequently asked question concerns vinegar. All vinegars except for malt vinegar are gluten-free. Distilled vinegar can be derived from a variety of ingredients including apples and rice, and from grains such as corn or wheat. Although distilled vinegar can be made from wheat, the distillation process...

  16. When it comes to celiac and the issue of histamine intolerance (which is poorly understood, really) I always read current research from reputable sources, check in with my GI doctor and discuss things with him , talk with people who have also researched HIT for a few years besides me (GottaskiLisa, Jebby aka jess) and then, I do what's best for me. Lisa...

  18. The woman who writes The Low Histamine Chef blog says "Today I found that Lactobacillus reuteri is something I definitely want in there. Rather excitingly to me, Open Original Shared Link proves something I’ve been talking about for ages – that not all histamine is bad for us. Lactobacillus reuteri causes histidine to convert to histamine, but this par...
  19. from the University of Chicago Celiac Center Why don’t you recognize tests (stool tests or otherwise) for non-celiac gluten sensitivity that are currently available through companies like Enterolab or Cyrex? We only embrace tests that have endured rigorous scientific evaluations. So far, these tests have received no evidence-based support. Enterolab h...

  23. Enterolab gene test for CELIAC--done by cheek swab--- is verified by the Red Cross. So, if you can afford it, that one seems ok and if you live in a state where he can ship to, that's a possibility for you.
  24. Ruth, People keep saying on various threads "there are many people on this forum with celiac who do not have either of the genes related to celiac" But I only know of one: Ravenwoodglass. She's very sweet and I am sure she will be happy to talk with you. Try Pming her. She was given a celiac diagnosis despite the results of her genetic test. She...
