  1. wish I knew how to market them. mama...I'd be making a fortune
  2. screw him and his unenlightened attitude about celiac, (yeah, I said it) here' s what i also said on my friend, the Gluten Dude's site I thought the video was more of an attempt to show the gluten-free diet fad as being silly and it did not bother me much. I mean, we do not even know if it was “staged” or not. I found his comment that “some...
  3. You're still healing. You've got to give yourself a break about that. Stop thinking about "what ifs" ok? Do not be "anxious" about gaining some weight back, okay. This is normal when your body starts absorbing nutrients again. I can relate entirely to the muscles and bone pain and osteopenia, but the irony of managing all that lies in keeping mobile...
  4. no problem ! that's what celiac buds are for. ..keeping each other sane and calm. (and keeping you company while drinking wine)
  5. Do not wonder or worry...read it again "that continuous low-level Open Original Shared Linkor inadvertent consumption of Open Original Shared Link could be to blame. " That's not going to happen to you. This is in people who do not pay attention!
  6. I am not always convinced by her articles, but anyway...did you read the explanation WHY? Why Don't People Recover Fully? That's not clear, but the Mayo Clinic researchers speculated that continuous low-level Open Original Shared Link or inadvertent consumption of Open Original Shared Link could be to blame. Other factors could include genetics, age and...
  7. Please, show that to me, because I never saw that one and I thought I had read them all
  8. "we are unaware of" is a polite way of saying "it's unproven". Take a stroll through PubMed...there's no evidence there. Believe me, I've looked. If any celiac researchers thought this was a hazard to celiacs, they'd publish the information and tell us to stop eating those foods.
  9. no, but not everything on here is "solid gold info" either. People post a lot of opinions...that does not make it "factual "
  10. Believe it or not, my mom still has the elbow macaroni gold -spray-painted popsicle stick "jewelry box" I made for her in kindergarten (a gazillion years ago) It's never cracked or broken and she considers it the best gift she ever got (besides me, of course) Accept the gift. Unless you have a contact wheat allergy, it should not pose a problem...
  11. The gluten-free flours from nuts.com are certified and have never caused me any issues. "shared facility" does not mean shared lines, so that may not be it either. Sadly, you may have other intolerances (like so many of us do) but you'll figure it out. Hang in there.
  12. I was kidding about the pasta every Wed. thinger anyway. I had to go a long long time without sauce (all that "GERD" and all) Tonight's looking like pork tenderloin with an easy fig jam and mustard glaze, sweet potato for J and "zoodles.". I just saute them quickly in EVOO and herbs. I'm cutting back on carbs and (ahem) ge-lahh-to. Still lovin those...
  13. maybe you could try these! I make these often and they are delicious and contain fiber and a host of nutrients and vitamins. A, C, D, E , selenium, magnesium, and Omegas, blah blah blah (i.e. good stuff!) Giant Granola Oatmeal Cookies (adapted/tinkered with from various gluten-free recipe sources) Gluten-Free and Dairy-Free Makes 12. Dry Ingredients...
  14. As I was born in Boston, haddock was often our Friday night special! YUM!! Welcome, Jody!!
  15. Then, it's settled...wine and gelato and we're all set.
  16. Gotta laugh. Laughing is essential. (and here's a secret... jumping gelato is world-wide!)
  17. Everything Gem just said... except I "only" have 2 AI diseases and some weird connective tissue thing no one can explain, BUT I too am back at the gym weight-training and using my legs and arms. (for a while there, docs thought I was headed for a "scooter". ) and...except I gained (ahem ) 40 lbs. because I can tolerate a bit more dairy than she...
  18. Pork ragout with taglietelle. (but not in the crock pot) The jovial brand is pretty terrific. I mean, even the foodies at America's Test Kitchen rave about it--and they're WEs. A review from Cook's Illustrated: "Winner: Jovial Gluten Free Brown Rice Pasta, Spaghetti Thanks to a relatively high combined total of fiber and protein and a low, slow...
  19. I have been fortunate to acquire many celiac BFFs...and you will to! Just hang in there. Recovery is the mother of all exercises in patience. ....but healing happens.
  20. I still recall when I was not doing so well during the first year (off and on) and Gemini would tell me "it's just a blip" and then we would talk about other things and laugh. Since then, we have become the very best of friends, so I will say this: Listen to this wise woman! Blips pass. I promise, it gets better. Take it from a former serial "blip...
  21. I am Afraid the Lucy Ricardo moves..are a 'celiac symptom....They are just undocumented. Laura...poor babe. Sorry ! The assorted burns, breaks, sprains, bruises, fractures, bites from rodents, etc...all documented on this thread and blamed on celiac.
  22. Have to reply to myself because all joking aside, my man is wonderful about taking care of business. Multi-talented, he does electrical, plumbing, woodworking, fixes cars (HUGE motor head! he had a '68 corvette when we met and he let me drive it!!) and he does fix everything. He taught me how to lay hardwood floors, plus our beautiful slate floors back...
  23. ah yes, that googling thing can be a crap shoot when diagnosing oneself with health issues. We tend to look at valid sources of information like the University of Chicago Celiac center IOpen Original Shared Link We aren’t familiar with any foods that show evidence of cross-reactivity. Open Original Shared Link
  24. The last thing I would do is call you crazy, Stephanie. You're dealing with multiple issues with your boy and I am in awe of you. Not sure where you are, but is driving out of the question?
  25. mmm hmm...scatter a few tools around, looks like 'things are being done"..... and meanwhile, they are at the golf course.
