ARCHIVED Not Sure Whether To Continue A gluten-free Diet...
IrishHeart replied to kellysensei's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
If you have celiac, you can't resume gluten. And to be rid of anxiety and depression is huge! why would you want those back in your life? What got worse--bowel issues? well, maybe you have other food intolerances in addition to gluten? maybe you have another gastro problem. Go see a GI doctor. -
ARCHIVED Gluten-Free Rice
IrishHeart replied to skullgrl's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
To be safe, I go with certified --the big G F in the circle--on those types of alternative grains. Lundberg has that certification. it's all they grow, as far as I know. Both Gemini and I are easily affected by trace gluten CC, and we both use their rice. No problems and our repeat celiac testing is always fine. I know she would pipe in here and say... -

?? I did not throw sarcasm at you. I am telling you the facts. I am using the same study you did to discuss the conclusions! You are distorting the information for some reason and honestly, I do not know why. I give up! -
Hemorrhoids are not unusual, period. I know people with those and they do not have celiac. "Hemorrhoids are common ailments"--says the Mayo Clinic. No celiac doctor would diagnose from a "visual." Biopsy is the diagnostic protocol. There are many reasons for low blood platelets, hon. But you have not provided the range from the lab. "Low"...

Boric acid. Tried and true. Just a little light dose sprinkled in a fine line around the outside of your house deters them. I lived in the remote countryside as you know and we had no ants in our house. (unheard of) It never bothered my cats, my dog, or any other animals that romped around my 6 acres. My Dad used it and he had tons of birds, bunnies...

I was just going to say...well, I know Lisa was on vacation in Yosemite last week on a much-needed vacation, and now she is home, but yes, not everyone uses the PMs. -
ARCHIVED Gluten-Free Rice
IrishHeart replied to skullgrl's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
I thought you meant this article. Allow me to share some information.. I met Anne Lee, RD who co-authored that study at a gluten-free living conference last month. I read her ENTIRE Pub med article and learned a lot more than what is involved in an abstract. I think you need to look at the bottom line of that article...not just the abstract. ... -
ARCHIVED Always Feel Like I'm Having A Reaction
IrishHeart replied to imari's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Nutrition is not about "fortified foods", hon. No one should rely on fortified foods for nutrition. Not sure where you are getting that information from, but it simply is not true. And coming to "a forum like this" means getting valid info from veteran celiacs ( like Gemini)who are telling you how to negotiate the ropes of a G F life. No one is... -
Your hubs is loving and compassionate. Much like mine--who never wavered in his faith that we would figure out what was killing me. My story is here: Open Original Shared Link I suggest probiotics...Florajen 3 is a good one. Even Jebby (who is a doctor and posts on here) takes them. and here is what I always say to everyone...you're never...

ARCHIVED Gluten-Free Rice
IrishHeart replied to skullgrl's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Hi Ksue, I would love to see the Pub Med article that says there's cross contamination in the rice industry. Does it mean the entire rice industry? world-wide? USA? Thanks! -
ARCHIVED Calcified Nodule Cyst – Ct Scan And Ultrasound + More
IrishHeart replied to Astrongtower's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
I was told by my Doctor to take Metamucil and Probiotics which I have started and man let me tell you I feel much better on this stuff. I wish I knew why but I just do I guess. Well, if you feel better on metamucil and probiotics, my guess is you were bound up -plain and simple--and lacking fiber. I watch an extremely large amount of TV and on... -

It's great you can go off the prednisone!! Years ago, before DX, I was once the youngest person in a senior water aerobics class, too and I enjoyed those people so much!! I loved the class because in the water, I can move easily and with less pain. There were some people there in my age group, too.. plus, there were people there who were recovering... -

The What's For Dinner Tonight Chat
IrishHeart replied to jess-gf's topic in Gluten-Free Recipes & Cooking Tips
I do not expect to be skinny, Addy, (and I did not look especially attractive as skin and bones when I was sick) ....but I do not want to be 45 lbs.overweight either. I don't think I'll be unhappy giving up a few goodies for a few weeks, and if I want something, I can always have one of these brownies. They are not very fattening, but still tasty. ... -

Just received a reply to an email I sent to Love2Travel and she reports that on Wednesday, they will leave for their new home in Croatia! How exciting to be starting a new life!! She said she'll be in touch very soon. I made a menu for myself because I am on a diet. Focusing on the ingredients of the Meditteranean diet --or if you just look... -

ARCHIVED Full Knee Replacement ,,,
IrishHeart replied to cahill's topic in Introduce Yourself / Share Stuff
Ken makes a great point. No matter how much we do not like the rehab PT, we have to do it. My one aunt was reluctant to do what she was supposed to because she said it hurt too much (understandable) and now, she's too stiff to get around. I dreaded my shoulder PT...you want me to lift it where, now? over my head? are you out of your *&%! mind... -
ARCHIVED Not Sure Whether To Continue A gluten-free Diet...
IrishHeart replied to kellysensei's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Since the Enterolab stool tests are not diagnostic for "gluten sensitivity" --because there are no valid tests for this condition yet--you still cannot be sure what is going on. (this is not my opinion, ok, it's what the celiac researchers say) Currently, there are no recommended methods to test for non-celiac gluten sensitivity. Some doctors offer saliva... -
ARCHIVED Anyone Have Chiari Malformation And Does It Flare When You Get Glutened?
IrishHeart replied to Not crazy's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
My mother has Chiari. ( a few cousins do too) She mentions it flares when she is under stress or if she overdoes something like raking or vacuuming (that motion bothers her but she stubbornly keeps doing it ) , but has never mentioned a connection to her being glutened. I can ask her and get back to you. While I do not have Chiari, one of the... -
ARCHIVED Full Knee Replacement ,,,
IrishHeart replied to cahill's topic in Introduce Yourself / Share Stuff
Just learned my sister has to have both knees done this summer. One on June 5 and one July 18. If only I could get her to see that quite possibly, celiac is causing some of that deterioration?? , but alas, I can get perfect strangers on the internet to listen to my advice, but not members of my own family. ah well.... Chill, I wish you all the best... -
ARCHIVED Gluten Free Multivitamins?
IrishHeart replied to Bschwarze's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
What does that mean? Do you work for a company that sells liquid vitamins? that means you are biased, IMHO -
"A zoologist and conservation biologist by training, Ross has nurtured a passion for journalism and writing his entire life. Ross weaves his insatiable curiosity and passion for science into regular posts and articles " He's not a journalist. He's very intelligent, yes, but he's not a journalist. The study concluded : “In contrast to our first study… ...

This is also fueling your feelings, I am sure. When we constantly feel s$#&ty (no pun intended at all), we are exhausted. Your electrolytes are off if you are always having D and not eating. You have to hydrate. When i was in this mode, my husband made me a an electrolyte drink (DO NOT use gatorade; it's full of crap and makes D in some people) Take...

ARCHIVED Gluten Free Multivitamins?
IrishHeart replied to Bschwarze's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
That's not necessarily true. That's just what the people who make liquid vitamins tell us. And there are many articles that argue both forms back and forth, with no real definitive answer. They are easier to swallow, yes. but, they cost more and they may lose potency faster. Dr. Weil's site: While it is true that liquid vitamins may get into...
