  1. I just thought maybe reading a few threads would give you more to consider as you make your list. Be sure to check the dates on the posts for the most recent info. Hope you can find what you need!
  2. Ditto, SA. I used to buy high- end products like Estee Lauder, Clinique, Origins, Bare Minerals, etc. although I never wore foundation. Maybelline Great Lash works better than ANY of those brands! I am still looking for a lip gloss I like. I purchased a very expensive one from one of the "gluten free" makeup companies, as well as a mascara (when...
  3. I have become pretty good at these things because I researched a lot and I am married to a chemist. He's very handy to have around. If you are worried about hair conditioners containing "hydrolyzed wheat protein", the label will state that ingredient. Those products have long ingredient lists, don't they! Does that help?
  4. There are hundreds of threads on this topic. Use the SEARCH FORUM VIA GOOGLE --look on the top right of your screen under your profile? ---see it? okay, type in moisturizer, etc, and you will find a lot of helpful information! I do not worry about eye makeup as I do not get that in my mouth. Your main concern is lip stick. and welcome...
  5. Cetyl alcohol is a chemical. So yes, it is gluten free. People who suffer from eczema can be sensitive to this chemical. Are you referring to it's use in hair conditioners?
  6. Summer in the City - Lovin Spoonful
  7. a chicken joke for Jess in honor of her newly hatched blog: Why did the chicken cross the mobius strip? To get to the same side. (My scientist hubs found that hysterical.)
  8. Blue Tango by Leroy Anderson
  9. Hon, if you are newly diagnosed, you are still suffering from serious inflammation in your gut lining. You may feel as if EVERYTHING is causing you a problem right now. Let's start at the beginning: have you eliminated dairy?
  10. Tender Is The Night, by Jackson Browne Hi, Patti!! waving and Wow, I have not been on this thread for a while. Hi Shroomster!! Hi Em!!!, Hi Jess!!!, Hi BUNNIE!! (ssshh, I am a BUNNY lover--so, watch out, Shroomie wants to saute you in a pan so, be vewy vewy quiet, she is hunting wabbits.... )
  11. J, You know how to write, therefore you can blog. Have fun.
  12. Hon, there are so many symptoms related to celiac that it is difficult to determine what is caused by gluten and what OTHER conditions are occurring in conjunction with it. I am saying I had these symptoms, yes, but they are also similar to symptoms of high blood pressure and allergies, too. Numbness and tingling are neuropathy, often found with celiac...
  13. You are replying to a post from 2 years ago and chances are, the original poster may not see your reply.
  14. I had these symptoms when I was very ill from long-undiagnosed celiac. I do not have any allergies. I was tested repeatedly. It was an inflammatory response in me from gluten. I can get a pounding heart, rashes, red skin, parasthesia, etc.-- from an accidental glutening. It is rare I am "hit", but it happened just last week, and when I was...
  15. I think this is all good news for you!!! One thing I learned from being in dire straits is: there is ALWAYS a Plan B! a Plan C.. a Plan D... Things fall into place. Honestly, I am very glad to hear you are getting out of Poland, Babs. I think that pain will start to clear up when you stop getting low levels of gluten. (Just my...
  16. Thanks for posting this article. There is much written about gluten and neurological symptoms. I had many of those symptoms myself. I saw 4 Neuros, one of them telling me flat out the burning parasthesia, neuropathy, muscle pain, weakness and loss of mass, ataxia and cognitive issues were "not a neurological problem" because my Brain MRI and EMGs...
  17. I cannot say enough about how much probiotics helped me out! I take them religiously. I also drink a lot of water every day. Upon DX, testing revealed negigible levels of "good guys".... that's impossible, I said. Well, I WAS a burning mess. My entire GI tract was in flames--and those "good guys" helped straighten me out. I had "alternating...
  18. C is common. You take out all the gluten grains, and now you've got less fiber coming in. Eat whole grains, brown rice, apples, fibrous veggies (leafy dark greens) and drink lots of water. Take a probiotic every day. You are going through all the phases we all went through. Was your thyroid checked??
  19. Water is very helpful indeed. People think "eat More fiber, eat more fiber!" but if there is no water to absorb it and MOVE it along...now, you've just got a gut full of fiber. How does that help?
  20. So happy to hear hubs puts your health first. ( It was not clear in your initial post.) So you see, your celiac sisters jumped all over this topic in defense and support. We're a loyal bunch, if nothing else.
  21. Hooray for Chef Lewis and hooray for you, Ada! whoohoo!! I am glad to see you doing so well now and out and enjoying yourself! Cheers, IH
  22. If you are a Celiac, you need to stay on it for LIFE! Your body is essentially re-booting itself. It's getting rid of gluten, toxins, and the villi heal and you absorb nutrients again. The fatigue will lift. If your folate, iron and B-12 levels are fine and your thyroid is functioning properly, then I would say, just hang in there. Sorry, I know...
  23. Have you removed dairy? It can be a temporary secondary intolerance for celiacs and may cause headaches as well. Healing is an up- and- down road for a while after DX. Hope you see an improvement soon. Hang in there!
  24. Well, I always say this when people tell me a similar story and ask me "Do you think this is a gluten intolerance?" I answer: "If you DIDN'T have a problem with gluten, you wouldn't have so many awful symptoms disappear off it and then return when you ate it again, now, would you?" Stay on gluten, even though you feel awful. Have the testing done...
