These are not facts. They are your opinions. "The term cross-reactivity exists"--the TERM exists, as do the TERMS "ballpark figure" and "downward spiral". Lots of terms "exist". "Is being researched"---- by WHOM EXACTLY??? Someone other than the man who invented the test? GIVE PROOF. "there should be more research"---well, there SHOULD be lots...

ARCHIVED Wallpaper Reaction? Sleeping Hands & Swollen
IrishHeart replied to AkashaCanada's topic in Super Sensitive People
That's okay! I had to learn all this, too! We all had to learn. Hopefully, you will find good information on here. It helps to read the FAQs at the head of each section. And there are many articles and sections to look through. Welcome to the forum!! -
ARCHIVED Wallpaper Reaction? Sleeping Hands & Swollen
IrishHeart replied to AkashaCanada's topic in Super Sensitive People
Hon, gluten molecules do not go into an open cut and into the bloodstream. It does not work that way. So do not worry about that. It is possible that you are simply still ill from long term gluten intolerance and you have some vitamin deficiencies and hypoglycemia. You are still new to the gluten-free diet and it takes a while for symptom resolution... -
I do not "need any more tests". I asked you--at the beginning of this discussion-- for CREDIBLE, peer-reviewed SOURCES of information about "cross-reactivity" to foods in celiac---(I asked you "Do you mean secondary food intolerances"? --you did not answer)-- and you can only provide two sources of information. (1) The DC who developed the test (and...

Nope, they are not blogs; but they are ALL from the same source. Are you carefully reading the things you are linking to? They are all from the same source-- the man who developed the test and a description of the test itself. All 3 come from the same place--Cyrex Labs.

ARCHIVED Sooo Tired, Hair Loss, No Stamina
IrishHeart replied to ravenwoodglass's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
Raven, my friend, I am sorry to hear you are flagging and I wonder what happened ---as you always seem to be doing so well. My first thought was "what have you changed in your diet?" but you answered that. I do not think you are getting enough nutrition--eating only once a day. IMHO You could have several vitamin B deficiencies. FOLATE... -
A BLOG is NOT a valid research article. In the second BLOG you link to, the woman incorporates EXCERPTS from various notable medical professionals' articles to discuss celiac and gut permeability, NOT the validity of cross-reactivity. Suggesting this is the case is MISLEADING (and also demonstrates that you did not even read the blog entry very carefully...

Not necessary, hon. I got the gist of what she said. What she is talking about is exactly what I said---other food intolerances secondary to gluten intolerance-- often found in celiac. The most common is lactose intolerance due to blunted villi. For many, soy is also a factor. Giving it a new name like "cross- reactivity" does not make it another condition...

ARCHIVED The "I'm Happy Today" Topic
IrishHeart replied to Ellie84's topic in Introduce Yourself / Share Stuff
Well, kiddo, are you snowbound and warm and cozy?? How are you feeling, BTW!?? Better?! It's snowing here today (NY) and I am HAPPY because I figured out what was bothering me the past 2 months and messing with my healing curve ....bean flours!! yup, beans... as in all legumes. I knew soy was a culprit, but never thought ALL of them could do it.... -

ARCHIVED Wallpaper Reaction? Sleeping Hands & Swollen
IrishHeart replied to AkashaCanada's topic in Super Sensitive People
Sorry you are having such discomfort. I have read that gluten was once used in drywall and wallpaper pastes, but I am not sure if this is still a common practice or not and I am not sure it explains your onset of worsening symptoms. Your hands being swollen, cold and numb could be from any number of issues. Have your vitamin and mineral levels been... -
My primary care doc was truly upset when he ran out of ideas and referrals for me during my odyssey. He told me we needed to "think outside the box" (so I tried a Naturopath to no avail) and then thought maybe I should go to the Mayo Clinic or Lahey in Boston. I was getting ready to go there when I figured it out myself and then had it confirmed. I could...

True, true, and when I suggested she be prepared, I did not mean she be confrontational. Not at all. That gets you nowhere. Their egos cannot stand that. For example, there was the rheumy I questioned once back in 2009 who nearly took my head off and screamed at me "How dare you question my 35 years of experience?" (Well, when you are telling me to take...

You seemed to have missed my point. I HAVE read about gluten for 3 years ---and NOWHERE did I see anything about cross-reactivity from foods in a MEDICAL or SCIENTIFIC journal. When you post something as being "IN fact", there is an expectation that you can provide the source of your information. Do people have multiple food intolerances ? Yes!! I...

No, never. Gluten and malabsorption from celiac nearly killed me and I lost 3 years of my life in gluten stupor, ataxia and burning nerve and joint pain. Dozens and dozens of symptoms. It was a nightmare. The LAST thing I want to do is feel that bad again. No mouthful of food is worth that misery. Maybe your symptoms are not that bad, so you "put...

'Mornin all! Yes, that snowy goodness moved up from Sylvia's house into my top right corner of the US--yippee ( IH feigns false enthusiasm) Snowing pretty hard right now. "They" predict GUESS 3"--but who knows what will happen. Honestly, it's been a dud of a winter, so I am not complaining. May need to bake something later, however...can... -
ARCHIVED Mom Wants Me To End It Over His Celiac
IrishHeart replied to KricketKrick's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
ABSOLUTELY!!! This is YOUR life, not your mother's. You are perfectly happy living a gluten free lifestyle--what's it to her??? Why does she need to know if he is not feeling well anyway? I don't report my husband's bowel issues or moody moments (which ironically were only provoked after he visited HIS mother ) to my mother. Nor does he report mine... -
