Oh, good, Coll! Hope it settles in and you can have a good night!!

Try some corn pasta. BiAglut brand is delicious!!! Try to get the So Delicious coconut milk--it is in the red box in the dairy aisle. It pours easily. The coconut milk in the can is too thick for my taste--like on gluten-free Chex? does not work. I only use that stuff in a can for cooking. Happy hunting!

Glutenfreeda makes gluten-free oats. also, Open Original Shared Link Some will disagree with this suggestion( because they say BRM makes them react) but Bob's Red Mill makes gluten-free Oats and Corn meal. Nutsonline has gluten-free corn grits. Both have gluten-free dedicated facilities and I have no issues with them. Avoid buying them from...

ARCHIVED Which Is Easier For You: Dairy Or Gluten Free?
IrishHeart replied to JWSJ's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Gluten free was much easier for me because I was so happy to get rid of the thing that was poisoning me and making me so ill and in pain for years. I am probably one of the few people who can honestly say I was happy to know I had Celiac -- because it was an answer and a solution to getting my life back. But no Cheese? (absolutely one of my favorite... -
Well, those are some celiac/gluten symptoms for sure. You may need to avoid rye and barley and all gluten derivatives too. Not just wheat. Just a thought.

RETIRED/BORED HUSBAND After I retired, my wife insisted that I accompany her on her trips to Target. Unfortunately, like most men, I found shopping boring and preferred to get in and get out. Equally unfortunate, my wife is like most women - she loves to browse. Yesterday my dear wife...

Skip the oats unless you can guarantee they are gluten free. Nothing from bulk bins!! The ranitidine should not harm you. Don't take it and benadryl together, hon

ARCHIVED Why Do I Now Get Sick From Gluten When I Didn't Before Going Gluten Free
IrishHeart replied to JulieAC's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Julie, You can now tell your OB that she could not be more wrong and she should not give advice about Celiac Disease if she does not know how the disease mechanism works. Telling a Celiac it's okay to eat gluten? Are you kidding me??? There are some very reputable experts on Celiac, hon--Dr. Guadalino, Dr. Fasano, Dr. Green, among others. They... -
That's a good start then! See how it goes and keep us posted.

AHA! Now that you have added WHEAT allergy and chemical sensitivity to your signature line---some of the advice regarding "gut healing" and celiac CC issues may have seemed inappropriate/unhelpful to you. No wonder you had to keep clarifying things for us! Now we get it! So you are not a celiac, then? But you do have some GI problems? I hope...

Try the root veggies! Try anything you want. Just be careful of the gluten. For stock,if you cannot make your own, use Kitchen Basics or Pacific. Yes, Coll--I really think you are having swollen glands from the allergens. They can cause all the things you are feeling. I have terrible pain in my joints, back, spine--I understand how crazy it is. ...
-
Okee dokee --I just want to make sure Coll gets the Correct info--she is having a rough couple of months.
-
Coll-- just get the Earth Balance spread (soy free) to use as "butter" Get So Delicious coconut milk (red carton) it's soy and dairy free You can keep eating the gluten-free Rice Chex and Corn chex---you like those. All meats--plain--are fine. All vegs are fine. All fruits are fine. Rice is fine. It does not seem like you need to avoid any other...

Sorry, but as I said, Zantac (ranitidine) is a H2 blocker--even the chart you provide the link to states this. Here is TrishTrish (aka Catsmeow) discussion regarding her use of the Histamine 2-- Zantac working for her.
-
I think it was TrishTrish who told me about using the Zantac for her wheat allergy and she had amazing results. I had so many "histamine" responses going on before DX--and most of them cleared up after being gluten-free for about 8 months. But every now and then, I get red skin, feel hot and I get all "snarfully" in the nose and throat, short of breath...
-
Well, Coll--there are two things going on here. You have environmental allergies and food allergies. If that is what the skin prick test showed-- They are allergies, not intolerances and so, I am wondering why he has not given you any antihistamines. Or even Zantac --which is a histamine 2 blocker. You could try an over-the-counter 2 week trial...

You bet! I happened to look and see your B day was listed on the main forum page on the bottom and I thought I'd send you some happy wishes. Glad to see you are feeling well--your posts were so encouraging to me when I was a newbie! Cheers, IH

ARCHIVED Why Do I Now Get Sick From Gluten When I Didn't Before Going Gluten Free
IrishHeart replied to JulieAC's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
I am sorry you interpreted anything that I said as "hateful" or vile. I do not see that in any of my words. I suggest you re-read what I have said before you make such statements. On the contrary, my heart aches for anyone who is stricken with this disease and the last thing I would want is for anyone to suffer what I have suffered for so long. I am... -
What were the results of the skin prick testing? If you decide not to take it, you could say "I did not take it ---as I do not have candida albicans." ---IMHO What does your primary care doctor think of Dr. Murray's diet and prescription therapy????? Maybe you need a 2nd opinion. Remember what I told you, hon--none of us are doctors and we can only...
-
Hon, this is exactly what I asked you in our PMs---do you have anything VISIBLE--and you said NO. So I do not understand why you are taking an anti-fungal at all. I do not get this guy's treatment plan. Small bowel bacterial overgrowth is a different story, but you said they scoped you and tested you in the hospital.

ARCHIVED Looking For A Doctor Who Knows How To Deal With And Treat Celiac
IrishHeart replied to Meggielynn13's topic in Doctors
Good thing I happen to be reading this section! Your topic does not say WHERE you are looking, hon-- that's probably why no one answered you! I DO have an AWESOME doctor now that I can recommend to you! His name is Dr. William Gusten and he can be reached at Saratoga-Schenectady Gastroenterology--office in Burnt Hills, too. Don't waste time--call... -
ARCHIVED Baby Wipes?
IrishHeart replied to smsm's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
What do you mean by "getting me and my daughter"? Are you breaking out in hives or something? Can you be more specific? Do you mean to say you think there is gluten in a baby wipe? I sincerely doubt it. Even so, gluten is not absorbed through the skin. It is only a problem in things that you might swallow, like lipstick or mouthwash. -
I cannot believe after all we talked about --and you told me that you do not even have a yeast infection nor were you tested for it ---that he is still insisting you take Nystatin after all this time. ??? Taking that drug in the absence of a candida infection is not a good idea. It is disturbing to me that you have dropped all that weight and that you...

ARCHIVED Any One Tried Custom Probiotics
IrishHeart replied to kaity's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
Same here--I used them for a few months post- DX. I had no good bacteria in my gut apparently--found that out through testing--and these Custom Probiotics did the trick. Because they are powdered, you can start at a small dose and work your way up. I hit them heavy myself to get my gut flora balanced. I thought they were great! I had severe GI burning from...
