  1. Missj,- I primary have C with bouts of D. The thing is I have hypothyroidism. The one main symptom of hypothyrodism can be C. So that may be causing it or gluten. I was positive to the IGG test so I am at least have gluten Intolerance but will know more after my biopsy. Its best to have a proven celiac doctor check you out.
  2. I can really emphasize with you about the waiting. When I realized it might be the gluten making me sick it was hard to keep eating it (so I can have the biopsy). The waiting has been hard. Many times I have questioned whether I should really wait or go on the gluten-free diet and maybe feel better. The only thing is I remembered one of the members saying...
  3. Shopgirl,- The exhaustion is debilitating. I contributed my exhaustion to my hypothyroidism but I wondering if it is really GD too. My weight gain is baffling too. Could it be I am not absorbing the food/vitamins correctly? My appetite is always great. Maybe it
  4. thegreatkatsby I had the same thoughts for years before I had my gallbladder out. I thought I had eat bad food. Then that distress was happening every day and I had a HIDA test which showed my gallbladder was functioning less than 10%. Once my gallbladder was out my surgeon said my gallbladder was really diseased for a long time. Thanks to the insights...
  5. I hope no one takes this as noisey. I would like to understand what sort of symptoms others are suffering with. This information will be also others that are new to the web site trying to decide if they might have Celiac/Gluten Intolerance.
  6. Many do not have the choice of biopsy if their bloodwork is negative. Doctors many times use positive bloodwork to determine to go on to a biospy. What has been your experience?
  7. If it was black that would be more potentially serious. Like mentioned it could be hemorrhoids, some kind of irritation in your lower bowels, or as simple as eating beets or red dye of some type. Let your doctor know.
  8. Tell me what your symptoms are like. Everyone with Celiac, Coeliac or Gluten Intolerance has different symptoms. I would be very interested to hear what your symptoms are. My symptoms are bloating, stomach pain, at times very painful where my small intestines are. I have had a sack of fluid near where my gallbladder use to be (It is gone now). I could...
  9. Zus888, I had the same question. I found this article by Dr. Crowe Open Original Shared Link where she says that a positive gliadin antibody (without a positive biopsy) points to a person on the way to being a celiac. She then recommends that they go on a gluten-free diet.
  10. Thanks for posting the article. Without any studies on Gluten Intolerance it is hard for the medical field to support. I can see one of the problems with Gluten Intolerance is it does not off hand provide to companies that might support research.
  11. You did it again. Great Post!! Your post help me answer what I should be doing after I have my biospy. I have a positive DGP IGG test. Should I consider a gluten free diet if my biopsy comes back negative? Here is what the doctor Sheila Crowe said; It depends on the type of patient. Some patients have symptoms of celiac disease but do not have an abnormal...
  12. quiting the Nexium cold-turkey can cause even worse stomach symptoms at first if you have been taking it for a while. You might want to Google "quiting nexium" and see what symptoms can occur.
  13. Wow shingles. Those are really tough. My mother has had them twice. Ouch! Remember that shingles is an immune system thing. You are doing the right thing in checking it out completely with the GI doctor. I asked my doctor could my symptoms be just celiac. He said there is a possibility that there could be more than celiac involved. He said it would...
  14. When my doctor called me about the results of the Celiac Panel he told me NOT to go on the Celiac diet until I had the biopsys. I would call your doctor and let him know that you have been on the Celiac diet and for how long.
  15. I hope you get the answers soon. I had no clue that it might be Celiac until my Endo figured it out. I remember him asking Celiac type questions and at the time I had no clue where he was leading. I was happy he called me to tell me what the Celiac Panel pointed to. He warned me then not to go on a Celiac diet because the GI doctor would want to most likely...
  16. From all I have read you need to be on the gluten diet for the blood test and biospy. Three days should not hurt but I would tell your doctor that you where on the diet for three days. Make sure you get the full celiac blood panel. What kind of doctor are you seeing? GP, GI, Endo? I have read it really makes a difference to go to a doctor who specializes...
  17. "playing the waiting game,.... I went through (and probably still a little bit) the roller coaster of emotions, fears, self doubt, etc." How true your words are. I have been playing the waiting game too. I can emphasis with you. I have several more weeks till I will have my biopsy. Maybe I will have some answers by then. If not I may be on to a...

    ARCHIVED Doctors Asheville, Nc.

Can you recommend GI doctors in Asheville, NC?
  19. I have been newly diagnosed with celiac disease. I am wondering where the diet will lead me. I normally have more of a C problem. This may stem from my long standing hypothyroidism. I have been trying to find ways to add fiber since this really helps me with my C. My mother had a D problem. The doctor told her as was mentioned in a previous post to...
  20. I think it was on the news just recently that women that are blessed with hot flashes have much Less chance (50% or something close) of having breast cancer.
  21. The doctor can give your capsules of high dose vitimin D. He can monitor your level to make sure you are getting the right dosage.
  22. Swollen ankles can be serious. I would let your doctor know. Water in the ankles can be due to circulatory issues such as with the heart. Have you checked your Blood Pressure?
  23. That is good information. I expect since my blood tests are positive that they will do some kind of biospy. I never thought of it but I could go on it as soon as the test is over. I tried the diet for three days. I immediately lost the a lot of the swelling around my tummy. It must have been fluid since I lost 2-3 lbs. Has anyone else had this experience...
