ARCHIVED Odd Benefits Of Going Gluten Free
Jungle replied to Cattknap's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
I never have to eat another piece of store bought birthday cake with the inch of gag me icing again just to be polite. And at potlucks etc. I don't have to wait to eat because I've brought my own food I can eat when I am ready. -
I had a Dr. who didn't suggest anything not even a gluten-free diet. But has been willing to do the tests I've asked for. I'm glad I asked for a Bone Density scan as I do have osteopenia and need to have that watched. Because I didn't do the scope (the wait time was +6 month) and only had a very high + blood test. I feel like the bone density scan lends...

ARCHIVED I Didn't Go To Book Club Today...
Jungle replied to Katrala's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Notme!: You should feel so blessed to have someone who cares so much about your happiness that he tries so hard to do little things to make you happy. He is doing these things because he loves you and it is his job to support you in any way he can. His doing little things for you like ordering off of the gluten-free menu, so he can share with you does... -
ARCHIVED Best Vitamin D?
Jungle replied to SarahJimMarcy's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
The sunlight recommendation is only effective in the southern regions. Us in the north would have a hard time getting enough Vit D in the summer after an afternoon in the sun let alone the other seasons. As for a good suppliment I'm not sure it is hard to tell what works. I bought a liquid calcium/D3 thinking it may be easier for my body to use it. -
Over 10 000 people viewed this. Wow, that is a lot of tired people! I am so tired too. Will I ever have energy?

I did a week in Honolulu this spring eating in restaurants and was amazed that almost every restaurant had a gluten-free menu or at least knew what was gluten-free on their menu. I am not sensitive so I don't know if CC was an issue but I was just so happy that they even knew what gluten was.

ARCHIVED Celiac Testing For A Toddler?
Jungle replied to natalie6691's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
It seems like Dr's sometimes forget that although these tests are routine for them. It is our BABIES. And maybe we should start simpler. If she reacts on gluten then why would you mess with her system when she is so little. 3 months of her reacting seems like a lot of pain, and tears for something which you already know. She does react to gluten... -
ARCHIVED Worried About Over The Top Blood Test Numbers
Jungle replied to chisket's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Don't freak out about the number. I was 193, my brother 196, and my niece 197 (TTG) It takes time for the levels to come down. After 6 months my brother's halved. Regardless of the scope results I'd go gluten free. Don't worry after the first month or so it get easier. There is lots of help and information right here. -
Has anyone noticed that Shredded Wheat advertises on this site. They might want to reevaluate their advertising dollars.

ARCHIVED I Have Been Diagnosed, Now What Do I Do With My Family?
Jungle replied to Kimmy1119's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
As the chief cook in our house I am also the celiac. I prepare one dinner that is gluten-free (I sometimes make both gluten-free and wheat pasta on special occasions) Breakfast is usually toast or cereal that the kids prepare themselves so they have gluten then, and lunch is usually simple and the rest of the family has gluten then. If I bake or make... -

ARCHIVED Post Positive Blood Test Asked To Go Back On Gluten
Jungle replied to navigator's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
Cyberprof- Only 65% are all better after 2 years and 90% after 5 years. Well that would explain why I am not all better after 3 months. I guess I should just be patient and relax 'cause it is going to be a while. My Dr thinks I should be all better by now as it has been more than a few weeks. -
ARCHIVED 20 Month Old Just Diagnosed With Celiac Disease-So Many Questions
Jungle replied to tls1914's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
You are on your way to helping your child be healthy. The first few weeks can be tough finding out what she can eat and how to make that work in your household. As said by other posters the healing can take time. When I was first beginning by Gluten Free life I kept in the back of my mind that this was a progression. At first you make mistakes but surely... -
ARCHIVED Johnson And Johnson Baby Wash?
Jungle replied to Wonderland Found's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Do you have a friend who will buy them off of you so then you could buy other gluten-free baby shampoo? -
I never cheat. When you cheat you are only hurting yourself. I assume that she has received good medical advice and that she fully understands that she can not ever eat gluten or it will hurt her now and/or later. My Doctors have not said that and thankfully I have found good council elsewhere. You should ask the question "Do you want to spend your...

ARCHIVED Just Made The Decision To Cancel Family Vacation!
Jungle replied to 2johndeereboys's topic in Traveling with Celiac Disease
I am looking forward to Rving this summer. You can stop whenever you want. You always have a clean bathroom. And you are bringing your kitchen with you so food isn't an issue. No unpacking. -
I know what you mean. To compare a loaf of bread do you use the $2 loaf or the $5.50 loaf. I am planning on using the biggest difference. We could buy the cheap loaf if it wasn't made of wheat. I wouldn't bother phoning Revenue Canada you will likely not get someone who knows or get a different answer each time you call. It seems like a lot of paper...

So, I must have glutened myself because my stomach is bloated and uncomfortable, I hurt my knee a week ago and haven't been about to walk or sleep normally because of the pain, Am still coughing from a bad cold I had weeks ago, was woken up by my daughter with a dirty diaper, now can't get back to sleep and my husband is snoring and hogging...

ARCHIVED Is Testing Necessary?
Jungle replied to LittleTee's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
I'm not a fan of invasive tests but I can certainly see the point of seeing if you can get a positive blood test for him. More Dr.s are willing to consider a positive blood test plus positive reaction to gluten-free diet as a diagnosis. And if there are other positive family members that just makes it even better (for diagnosis) -
No, you are not a wimp. I had very mild symptoms before going gluten-free and can tell you I really don't think I could work outside the home. Now I am a Stay at home mom of 3 and life can be busy but I can adjust my schedule on days when I am so tired I could scream. Some days I don't want to get up because I am so tired that I consider keeping my school...
