  1. last night i grilled a 4 lbs. pork loin on the grill. Marinated in apple juice and garlic plus salt/pepper. Took 2.5 hours but was well worth it. Now I have left overs for the next 4 days! YUM
  2. It would be nice to find friends who were gluten-free too. I miss my old friends but everything they do revolves around drinking beer and they are down right mean about my diet. I pretty much gave up ever going out with them. Work is not much better. Being social and going out to lunch is out of the question as they just don't get this diet and disease I...
  3. I just started this diet bout 2 months ago now and I went to the store and bough Rudi's bread instead of Udi's and ate the whole loaf over the course of about 1 week. Do they do that to intentionally confuse me. The breads are right next to each other and I just assumed the Rudi's was gluten free. But its not and every flavor has wheat. It makes sense now...
  4. Can you post that or send it to me? I would greatly appreciate it. The Lara Bars are just not good. I like the Zone ones though.
  5. yeah it might just be all in my head but when if find something be it coffee or whatever that just says 'natural or artificial flavors' I get spooked. That could mean anything! The Lara bars do a number on me too and the flavor is not really what I'm looking for. The Zone perfect ones do not say gluten-free anywhere and all the flavors I saw at Walmart...
  6. i just need to find a new flavor i like i guess.
  7. Been drinking maxwell house hazelnut coffee on and off cause it was in my freezer and I'm pretty sure its killing my gut. Does anyone know if this stuff has gluten in it? I tried looking on their website and googling with no luck. the container shows 'natural flavors' as an ingredient but i guess that could mean anything. Whats a good gluten free coffee...
  8. If you haven't already, demand to see the detailed pathology reports from your last scopes. My old GI told me nothing abnormal was found, by once I saw the actually printed reports I could see in black and white that something was not right. I took it to another doctor who agreed that it was Celiac along with some other issues.
  9. Dr. Jean Wang at Washing University School of Medicine in St. Louis. She is one of the GIs on staff there. Hope you can get some help.

    ARCHIVED Tampa

Heading to Tampa Bay, FL for a day trip, possilby 1 night next week. Anyone know any good places for a gluten free meal, in or around downtown? Let me know Thanks Nate
  11. Just wanted to post this out here for anyone looking for a GI specialist in and around St. Louis, MO USA Dr. Jean Wang at Wash U Med Center, attached to Barnes/Jewish/Childrens I had my first visit with her yesterday and her team, amazing staff of Drs. and very informative visit. highly recommeneded.
  12. from what i understand the blood test is just a measurement of the antibodies your body produces to fight gluten. Some people will have negative results to this test or have readings completely different from someone else. Its not a positive/negative test but a measurement of antibody levels. The test results are open to the interpreation of a Dr. who may...
  13. I agree, I"m not sure how old you are now, but my symptoms got progressivley worse over the years. It started out with an occasional sign or sickness here, and eventually 10 years later I was in the ER 4 times in one year. So tread carefully if you decide to not go gluten free. Sometimes the disease is so gradual you may not notice it until you have all...
  14. Thanks, I"m still somewhat skeptical about the whole thing. I guess years of being sick will do that to you. But there is a small flicker of hope in my brain now. So i'm just going to cling to that and hope things get better eventually. I do feel somewhat better after 4 weeks gluten free, but I'm still having stomach issues and fatigue real easy. And yeah...
  15. Well after 10+ years I was finally diagnosed with Celiac yesterday at the Washington Universty Med Center here in STL. They also said I have GERD, and possibly post-cholecystectomy syndrome. It took 4 GI doctors, 1 surgeon, 2 primary care doctors, countless trips to the ER, 3 endoscopies, 2 colonoscopies, 2 negative blood tests, numerous CT scans, and...
  16. and another reason i never eat out. People make me sick. Touching someone's food is about as personal as you can get. Yet we pay these people next to nothing to do it. I'll cook my own food. Thanks
  17. I love your quote in your sig. sums up my life.

    ARCHIVED Weight Loss

I guess thats it there. My body doesn't handle anything well. or reverse that and say my body is still rejecting something I'm eating. I just haven't figured out what that is yet.
  19. The only thing I've realized from being a newbie is that I cannot do this on my own and I'm not getting any better. I'm still eating things that make me sick the next day or within hours. So gluten-free may not be my only problem.
  20. well thats depressing. What is the point of all this then? gluten-free this gluten-free that if no one knows whats really in this food I'm eating. Ugh
  21. My biggest issue has been beer and alcohol. I stopped drinking almost 10 years ago and the few remaining friends I have still do not understand. They take it as a personal insult that I don't drink with them. I've basically turned into a social hermit. I don't get invited to hang out or go see bands because everyone knows. 'oh Nate doesn't drink'. And now...
  22. Whoa. wait a second. Udi's has gluten in it?
  23. I just found 1 source through google that shows my one of my meds has gluten in it. I'm borderline freaking out. Whats the best way to find this out for sure?
  24. You must live somewhere on the East Coast. NY and Mass are notoriously high on smokes. I live in MO and 1 pack is 5.50, but its not so bad when i only smoke 4-5 a day. 1 pack can last me up to 5 days sometimes. I need to quit really. I've tried 3 times and failed each time. Once I made it a month, another time 3 months. But i always go back. Its probably...
  25. Thats my point. The guy is to busy doing TV spots and promoting his own ego to actually do any research or treat people. Real Drs. do research, write papers, do studies, and treat patients. Not go on TV and sell books and crap. Also giving sound bites for Oprah and doing TV shows that have little if any value to the general public. Real Drs know each person...
