ARCHIVED Ocean Spray Cranberry Juice
alex11602 replied to Marilyn R's topic in Gluten-Free Recipes & Cooking Tips
Is it only a certain batch or flavor or the sparkling? I have 4 different flavors at home plus the sparkling. -
I just watched that episode and while I didn't care for it as a show, I didn't find that the facts were managed too horribly. While they did show people cheating on the diet, the one who needed gluten free for medical reasons did not cheat and I think it did bring up a valid point that the diet can be difficult to adhere to at first especially when you...

Do you see the plus and minus sign in the upper right hand corner of the post? The plus ups the posters reputation and the minus lowers it, so it's done by people saying if they like that post or not. Hope that helps.

The What's For Dinner Tonight Chat
alex11602 replied to jess-gf's topic in Gluten-Free Recipes & Cooking Tips
Leftover roast beef, probably smashed potatoes with a drizzle of olive oil, salt and pepper and maybe some leftover carrot fries and I am going to attempt to make my husband mac n cheese with the Tinkyada elbows and extra sharp white cheddar cheese and no cows milk, lucky I love him because I have a feeling it will take a while to get right. -

In my experience with my 5 year old daughter, regular playdough is not ok for us because she doesn't always remember to keep her hands away from her mouth. Good Luck. -

I just wanted to throw out there that I was just on Butterball's website and they list their Gravy Ingredients: Water, Modified Corn starch, Maltodextrin, Salt, Rice Flour, Cooked Turkey, Onion Powder, Caramel Color, Garlic Powder, Spices. To me these look gluten free, please tell me if I am wrong because I can not manage to make homemade gravy for... -

ARCHIVED So How Was Thanksgiving?
alex11602 replied to sandsurfgirl's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
I'm glad that everyone had a nice Thanksgiving. Mine was really nice also, we went to my mom's house and I made a chicken and rice dish with sausage for our dinner plus carrot fries to share, but when I got there my mom had turkey, broccoli and raw mushrooms that we could have too plus she made one batch of cranberry sauce with stevia since I can't really... -

ARCHIVED I Just Want The Holidays To Be Over
alex11602 replied to alex11602's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
I talked to my mom yesterday and she said that she was going to make the stuffing gluten free and would make baked apples for dessert for my family. I was extremely shocked because she has always made the same foods from the same recipes and I am so grateful. I still say that the holidays are a bit trying though. -

My husband is extremely understanding and I am so grateful for that. He went gluten free with me and our daughters and found that he felt better too so he definitely understands. I guess there are alot of things to think about in the next few weeks. -

ARCHIVED I Just Want The Holidays To Be Over
alex11602 replied to alex11602's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
I don't work right now and they don't take being gluten free seriously at all. It's a very small family get together...my husband, my daughters and I going over to my mother's house which is my mom, dad, sister and grandmother. We were only diagnosed by dietary response so we are stuck. And no one is allowed to help my mother...she doesn't like having people... -
Normally I wouldn't complain in the least about not being able to eat everything because I am so grateful that I don't feel sick all the time, but this is our first holiday that has alot of things served which we can not eat. I am not sure if I can deal with the holidays this year, especially Thanksgiving...we always go over to my mom's house, no matter what...

The What's For Dinner Tonight Chat
alex11602 replied to jess-gf's topic in Gluten-Free Recipes & Cooking Tips
We make ours by cutting up baby carrots (you can use regular too) and putting some olive oil and seasoning on them. In an earlier post I think I said that I put salt, pepper, brown sugar and cinnamon...it's all to taste. Then bake at 350 til the carrots are tender and slightly brown, I think it took about 20 min in my oven. -

ARCHIVED Please, I Need Urgent Advice
alex11602 replied to CNV2855's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
There are some people that just have to have the carbs and since you feel better when you eat potatoes I would say that may be the problem. I know that I get ill if I do not have either potatoes or rice. -

ARCHIVED Ugh! People Just. Don't. Get. It.
alex11602 replied to zus888's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
I just wanted to add something about the self-harm with saying that it will not help anything feel better. With cutting there is one moment where the adrenaline makes things seem better, but that moment passes very quickly and self mutilation is addictive due to that release of adrenaline. In turn to keep feeling better you would have to keep cutting and... -

That sounds delicious!!! Thank you for the recipe. -
I got a pumpkin that we stuck Winnie the Pooh things in and my oldest will carve pumpkins with my sister while I make caramel apples this weekend. Also I'll be taking my daughters trick or treating on Halloween (they are both being cowgirls this year) and then they will give whatever they get away, probably to kids on my daughter's soccer team, in return...

I'm so sorry that you are having such a rough time. For the pumpkin pie you can use an alternate milk, I have made it with coconut milk before and the texture was no different and it also worked with our homemade rice milk even though it took some time to get the right consistency for the milk.

We really started noticing weight gain at the 4 month point with my youngest, she was 15 months old when we started the diet and it has been 7 months now and she has gained quite a bit.
