ARCHIVED Trapped Wind (Chest Pain) Constipation And Bloating?
Chad Sines replied to Kirstie's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
This is also how i feel when i am having issues with fat intolerance which seems to be something many of us get. Same side effect of too much probiotic, dairy (if you have issues), soy (if you have issues), starting fiber, some of the wheat alternatives (at least for me), and even gut bacteria being off. -
ARCHIVED Fat Metabolism/weight Loss
Chad Sines replied to Chad Sines's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
I could not agree with you more about the adjustment. Sometimes you have to rationalize it out loud for it to really sink in to yourself. I hate that the docs are so quick to remove the GB and tell you that it will change nothing in your life. For some that seems to be true but for many of us, it screws our GI up forever. -
ARCHIVED Fat Metabolism/weight Loss
Chad Sines replied to Chad Sines's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
You got that right. I seem to alternate on some foods. I am cool with them one week and then overnight they kill me. Wouldn't this all be so much easier if we consistently had issues with the same foods all the time. I think this next week I am going to forgo the low carb, eat the low fat and see if that changes how I feel physically. I am just not going... -
I should preface this with I need to lose about 30 pounds. The best I felt in my life was on Atkins, ie low carb, high fat 7 years ago. I seem to have little luck with low calorie, low fat eating as far as weight goes. After the first few days I was great with great labs to back it after a year. GB was removed 5ish years ago when the docs thought my celiac...

ARCHIVED Gluten, Casein, Soy Free And Something Else Can't Put My Finger On.
Chad Sines replied to luvnascar29's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
soy, dairy, and gluten here. a lot of times veggies make it through unprocessed. Others can tell you better, but in the early phases our GIs are just toast. I have issues mainly with fat absorption which is sad because I feel better on a lower carb diet while eating a normal carb diet causes me to feel off. I think a lot has to do with the bacteria still... -
ARCHIVED Reception Dinner Etiquette
Chad Sines replied to Songbirdy's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
I think we often over think these issues. No one really usually cares if you eat at a meal, eat a salad only, or bring your food. The less we make a deal of it, the less people will even notice. Just do what you think you should do on that day and enjoy. -
ARCHIVED Vitacost Gluten Enzyme?!
Chad Sines replied to jessthirtytwo's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
I have tried several different brands of gluten-free enzymes including Digest Gold and all seem to wonk me. Either that or it is an amazing coincidence and I got CC'd from something. -
I like redheads and I have celiac? Coincidence?? Who knows...

ARCHIVED Vitacost Gluten Enzyme?!
Chad Sines replied to jessthirtytwo's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
This is weird to hear because they seem to cause me GI issues even though they are gluten-free. Interesting how we are all reacting so differently. -
ARCHIVED Shaky, Nausea, Feel Weird After Eating.....help?
Chad Sines replied to TTNOGluten's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Everyone seems to be different with what they can tolerate and not tolerate. I had my gallbladder removed about 5ish years ago. I cannot tolerate fat at all until several weeks after gluten-free. If I slip, then it is back to the drawing board. Even a single egg would lead me to run to the restroom, plus lots of bloating, sometimes nausea. We all seem... -
I have no concrete evidence, but I have read that this is outdated and only something that is used in some European producers.

ARCHIVED Reeses Crispy Crunch
Chad Sines replied to Chad Sines's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
As long as they label clearly. It is interesting to me though that they have a list of gluten-free items but it really only has a few items listed. -
ARCHIVED Reeses Crispy Crunch
Chad Sines replied to Chad Sines's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
The joys of a non-answer. Assuming the label is accurate, they should be okay.. Hi Chad, Thank you for contacting The Hershey Company. For your convenience, we have provided a list of current products that have been fully evaluated and qualify as gluten free using standards proposed by the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA). This list of gluten... -
ARCHIVED Reeses Crispy Crunch
Chad Sines replied to Chad Sines's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
supposedly the crispy crunch is from a peanut candy vs bread/cracker. Seems to be safe. Hope they confirm it. -
ARCHIVED Reeses Crispy Crunch
Chad Sines posted a topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Is the delicious, life fulfilling Reeses Crispy Crunch safe? I did not notice any issues on the label; however, the Nestle site does not list it as gluten-free. I found one post on here where someone mentioned it, but nothing else. I did contact the company and am waiting for a response, but curious if someone already knows. -
ARCHIVED Protein Drink To Drink At Work
Chad Sines replied to Googles's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
most of them say milk or water. I have used quite a few whey protein shakes in the past and all said milk or water. Rice protein is water. I took a zip locked baggie of the rice protein powder and a little tiny 6 ounce water bottle that I could put water in and shake. Mixed instantly -
ARCHIVED Stool Color And Many More Questions
Chad Sines replied to Mnicole1981's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
This is a crappy conversation. . Okay. I have been wanting to use that line here for a while. A good many GIs and internal medicine docs will tell you to ignore color or that everything is fine. If they notice a past diagnosis of IBS even if later it is something else, you will often get the "well that is just IBS" response. I cannot count the times... -
ARCHIVED Protein Drink To Drink At Work
Chad Sines replied to Googles's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
egg white protein foams quite a bit. Whey messes with some who have issues with milk. I like the rice protein. -
ARCHIVED Potassium Supplementation
Chad Sines replied to CR5442's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
The salt substitutes have potassium in them too. -
ARCHIVED Why Do Reactions Get Stronger And Other Intolerances Pop Up?
Chad Sines replied to GFreeMO's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
I eat whole foods, no grains, no gluten-free packaged stuff, rare eating out, and experience the same issues. I have had times where I appeared intolerant of eggs, soy, dairy, fructose, and even red meat. For me what it appeared to be was that each time I was glutened, I went through the normal GI issues but a massive fat intolerance returned. Even a very... -
mine gets super bloated where u feel like your entire intestines are inflated. I accidentally glutened Friday and Saturday night (misthought about a snack). Severe heartburn all week, the inflation, blechy. just now getting back to some feeling of normal. But yea, i get the soreness too. Before you know it is Celiac the symptoms are scary.

ARCHIVED Do You Think Everyone Has Celiacs?
Chad Sines replied to 1974girl's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
I only do that to my sister to torment her, because..well..she is my sister. I have had a lot of it going the other way "Do you think I have Celiac?" for everything. Usually my outwardly-directed comments are along the lines of a lot of people have food intolerances, allergies, and other issues like Celiac and do not even know it. These can become... -
ARCHIVED Restaurants Charging Extra
Chad Sines replied to veruca's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
My earlier post was a comment that I would pay extra if I knew the food I was getting was being given the care it needed to avoid gluten; however, in reality this is something that is most likely not happening and never going to happen in most FF and sit down restaurants. That extra price can lead one to believe that it makes the food safe to eat, but CC... -
ARCHIVED Restaurants Charging Extra
Chad Sines replied to veruca's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Here is part of the issue, I think. A lot of gluten free people are gluten free by choice, as a fad diet. We all probably know a few people who fit into that category. Heck, I have had people tell me they want to go gluten-free to lose weight. There seems to be more options each year, so who knows what the future holds. I would never expect the 16-yo... -
Flax meal can make you extremely gassy and give you explosive evacuations without much warning if you use more than you need. Once you get the dose right it is very effective.
