  1. I wanted to add, I can't tolerate the Amy's enchiladas. However, I don't know if it's due to CC or because the food is extremely greasy!
  2. I have never blamed, nor do I get mad at my Pharmacist. My blame lays entirely on the manufacturer and the obvious need for change regarding a consumers ability to easily determine what is in their medication.
  3. I didn't get her name unfortunately. I seriously just wasn't expecting to be treated like that. I will probably send a copy to the FDA, and the AMA, good idea! I did find out that the brand name is gluten-free so I asked my Dr. to write me a new script for brand only. At this point I don't care if their medication is gluten-free or not, they're not getting...
  4. I'm addicted to Amy's mac and cheese, and so far I've never had a reaction to it.
  5. Thanks for posting that!
  6. I've written a letter to their HQ, I do better expressing myself if I write it down. I've also written a letter to my Senator. I'm not expecting much to come from either but we'll see. It all started with the Cipro thread. I just think it's completely insane that it is this difficult to find out! I still haven't heard back from them and I'm not thinking...
  7. I'm having my own drug issues but thought I would share that I spoke with Mylan today and the man told me that they do not put gluten into any of their medications. They only use corn, potato and rice starch in their medications. FYI.
  8. Wow! I have just had one of the worst customer service experiences EVER!!!! I called Purepac Pharmaceuticals (part of Actavis) to verify if their Spironolactone is gluten free or not. First I was told I would have to leave a message and wait for someone to call me back. So the lady transferred me and low and behold someone answered the phone. It...
  9. I watched it on TV, lol. Does that count??
  10. I was bummed....it was totally cloudy here last night!
  11. When I was a new celiac, my Dr. didn't warn me about the serious consequences of continuing to eat gluten. In fact he jokingly told me about a patient he had who would eat gluten in order to lose weight every now and then. (I have never had weight loss issues, but weight gain, btw) I mistakingly thought a little wouldn't hurt me. Then I started researching...
  12. I guess for me I actually enjoy it more now. Before, I was so sick that I very rarely ate out with people other than my immediate family due to the fact that I always had issues immediately after eating. I hated being invited to eat at people's house because it always ended up with me running to the bathroom. Now, although there are many places I can't...
  13. They are sooooo good about it. You're going to have an awesome time!!!
  14. We went to Disneyland shortly after I was diagnosed and I was in heaven! I thought it was awesome! I'm counting the days until we go back in Jan. '09!!!
  15. I'm so sorry to hear about your dad. I was on Coumadin for a little over 2 years due to a pulmonary embolism. It can be a real pain the butt until you get your INR regulated, but hopefully he won't have too hard a time with that. A consistent diet is key, as well as taking the Coumadin at the same time every day. Poor guy, that really sucks. Did...
  16. You know it still really boggles my mind that they put WHEAT in medications. It seems to me there are so many other less allergenic fillers that could be used.
  17. When I first went Gluten Free I pretty much stopped eating bread, just because I hadn't found a gluten-free bread that tasted good. Some were more palatable than others but were still mostly disgusting, lol. Now I pretty much only eat Kinnickinnick bread. To me, it almost tastes like "normal" bread and it feels more like normal as well. You can see where...
  18. I just buy 100% Maple Syrup.
  19. That's so true and it goes for everyone, not just people with Celiac.
  20. No, not really a laxative, more of a bulking agent. I try to eat fruits and veggies, but honestly don't do as well as I should.
  21. For those of you that might possibly use a fiber supplement would you mind sharing with me which kind you use? I went looking the other day and all of them were made out of wheat something or other. It said it was gluten-free, but it still made me nervous.
  22. Hahahahaha, too funny!
  23. Do you mean this place?? Open Original Shared Link
  24. I totally agree with you. I think as Celiacs, we need to bear the responsibility of choosing whether to risk eating out or not. There are so many variables that are totally out of our control when we eat out.
  25. Glad you're here! It can be SO overwhelming at first, but trust me it'll be second nature to you in no time.
