ARCHIVED Gluten Contamination Problem In School Meals?
shadowicewolf replied to Medusa's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
Ignorance is bliss when it comes to some people Can you buy chance get a menu of what they are having for the week and pack a similar packed lunch for your daughter? That way she would be able to eat something similar and maybe not get picked on for doing so. -

ARCHIVED Does It Get Better?
shadowicewolf replied to shadowicewolf's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Thank you everyone It makes me feel a little better to hear that. My finals are finally over and i get to return home tommorow I'm hoping once i'm back into my 'normal' routine of things it should help some. I also intend to try to make some chicken soup, since it has 'healing' properties, i figured why not try and make it? I'm keeping my dairy... -

shadowicewolf replied to Dee777's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
Wow. Thats terrible Cheese is my go to food (chedder). I know that it is lactose free as is some other cheeses. Another thing i have found that helps a little is sweet potatos. I don't know why but sometimes they help. No problem i like to help others. -
ARCHIVED Distended Belly- Need Help Please
shadowicewolf replied to suziq0805's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
Another thing that pops up from reading this, are his intestens doing what their supposed to be doing (as in regular bowl movements and such)? I'm slightly a medical nerd and i read somewhere that that can be a result of the inestens not moving things properly thus the distended belly. -

ARCHIVED I Don't Want My Husband To Go gluten-free But Will I Still Be Safe?
shadowicewolf replied to HS7474's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
It shouldn't be too hard. Designate an area just for him and tell him he can't go outside that area of food prep. Make him store his gluteny foods elsewhere, having seperate pans and such... -
Would you want to risk it? I personally wouldn't. It shouldn't be too hard, take a big cooler and make stops along the way at stores and such, much cheaper as well.

ARCHIVED Labs
shadowicewolf replied to SAVANNAH21's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Blood tests can give false positives, like with all other tests. However i think (think) there are two tests missing from that. -
ARCHIVED Gluten Free And Hives?
shadowicewolf replied to atb913's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Can you absolutely rule out CCing? I think you got into something that caused you to have that reaction. -
ARCHIVED Blood Type And Food Intolerances
shadowicewolf replied to Looking for answers's topic in Food Intolerance & Leaky Gut
I'm AB- (yey for rare blood types) and have noticed no food allergies besides red food coloring (which is that even a food?) and Celiacs. My mother is also AB- and has problems with greenbell peppers (slight stomach issues nothing bad). But outside of that, nothing -
ARCHIVED No Way To Turn Entire Home gluten-free
shadowicewolf replied to Aphreal's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
Initionally we thought it was going to be hard (i am the only one going gluten free, sadly ). We found that: Its much cheaper to make our own rice flour and bake our own bread (big expense right there) Its better to be a veggie lover (as i was before this diagnosis) and buying veggies and potatos and such on sale, same with fruit. I'm... -
ARCHIVED Worth Getting Diagnosed?
shadowicewolf replied to Brrrandy's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Yes, it would give you peace of mind. It would also give you an 'official' excuse not to eat some things (joking of course). But, i've heard you have to eat some sort of gluten before being tested. I don't know if this is true or not but i wouldn't want to. -
Same, however at the moment, i have just been 'grazing' by eating a little bit here and there. If i don't eat something i get light headed

ARCHIVED Lost 4 Pounds Since Going Gluten-Free
shadowicewolf replied to CruiseWriter's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
I understand the weight thing completely. My case was a bit diffrerent. Originally before all of this mess started i was just under 180. Then i got sick and was diagnosed after loosing about 20lbs in about a month (!!!) not the best way to do it. I have since lost another 5 since starting this diet. I've found that my previously tight clothes are no longer... -
being the paranoid person i am, i refuse to take anything 'experimental' and the like. Highly doubtful it does anything.

ARCHIVED What Blood Tests Do I Need To Determine If I Have Celiac?
shadowicewolf replied to jwblue's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Thats the one! -
Is it hard to make rolls and such at home? I'm very much... afraid to eat out at this time, so i was thinking why not make my own.. And about the miso soup, is it hard to make homemade? I do so love it, but once again, i'm afraid to go out and eat it

ARCHIVED What Blood Tests Do I Need To Determine If I Have Celiac?
shadowicewolf replied to jwblue's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
I can't remember what it was called. But the one i had looked for the amount of antibodies (?) that were present in the blood. I don't know how it works, so please don't quote me on it. -
ARCHIVED What Is The Point Of The Biopsy If You Have + Bloods
shadowicewolf replied to Meg123's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
So then its not worth it? I'm not a fan of biopsys and i don't react well to anistesia. My blood test was high (like over twice te amount allowed) and i have noticed a difference since going gluten free (no more D!). My mom still wants me to be seen by a GI doctor. -
ARCHIVED Latex Free Band-Aid?
shadowicewolf replied to Simona19's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
Oh i can totally understand. I found out my issue with the band-aids after a mole removal gone wrong (long story short, stitches were taken out too soon, big open wound). Was not fun. But yeah, i tried a nexcare bandaid earlier... and startend to become irritated by it sooner than i ever did before. Ick. It stinks -
ARCHIVED Breads & Baked Goods- Any Tips On Keeping Costs Down?
shadowicewolf replied to HopefulMama23's topic in Gluten-Free Recipes & Cooking Tips
i'd invest in a bread maker. Flour however can be a bit costly. But if you have a way to make your own flour from rice it would be much cheaper.
