  1. I ate there many times last year while visiting on business. It's awesome! S
  2. I'm having both of these done next week. I'm not as terrified about the procedure itself, but I am concerned about being able to drink all the icky stuff. I'm not good at getting myself to drink stuff that tastes bad. I guess I am a little concerned about the outcome. Weird as it sounds, I might actually be glad if they find something since at least I'll...
  3. If your up for a little bit of a drive, maybe 20 or 30 minutes, try the Pacifc Edge restaruant at the Carmel Highlands Inn. It's pretty expensive but outstanding! They will make any accomodation for you. Open Original Shared Link Susan
  4. My food intolerance test had results for both egg whites and egg yolks. I react to both, but egg whites are more of a reaction. Sorry, I can't really answer your question. I guess you can try eating yolks to see what happens. S
  5. Hi, Very generaly speaking, a TSH between 1 and 2 is good. So, you may be taking a dose that is a little too high. I'd talk to your endo. Sometimes people feel great with a lower TSH and sometimes not. I think it's an individual thing. Do you have any hyper symptoms (Open Original Shared Link)? I would not stop taking it unless the doc tells you to...
  6. Another possibility is another food intolerance. I had frequent headaches that were better after being gluten-free, but would still happen almost every day. I found out that I have a big reaction to almonds, and I think that was a big contributor to the headaches. They've definitely been better since getting rid of the almonds. S
  7. I've had many people say the same thing to me about weight, "oh, no wonder you're so skinny". They say I'm so disiplined and that they could never eat like I do. Then I explain (again) that it isn't a choice and that I get really sick from eating gluten. They act like it's just a choice, like being a vegetarian. And, they act like my not being overweight...
  8. Luckily, I get to travel to Phoenix once in a while and eat at Picazzo's. It's wonderful! I really wish there was one here in the Bay Area. Anyone want to pool resources and open a franchise? There's an article in Living Without that talks about how each Picazzo's location sells 500 gluten free pizzas per week when they originally estimated selling only ...
  9. This is the same thing the manager said to me at my local Outback. He said they pulled the menus because they found some problems with it but that it will be back when corrected. He said if I'd ordered it before and not had problems, to keep ordering the same thing. They would make sure it was safe. He was very nice. S
  10. Yes, I think I'm having trouble with oils. I've suspected this for a while. The other day I could have sworn I got gluten, but what I ate should not have had gluten. It did have a ton of olive oil though. It gave me major gas, but few of my regular gluten symptoms. I got my food intolerance test results and it said I have no reaction to olives though. So...
  11. The headaches could also be related to another food intolerance. I just found out that almonds are a problem for me and eliminating them from my diet has really helped my headaches (which I got every day). S
  12. I have an on and off knawing type of pain below my belly button on the left side. I don't have it for months and then it sort of flares up again. I think it's some type of ulcer. Hopefully I'll get some clues on what going on next month when I get another endoscopy and a colonoscopy. The doctor says he'll give me a camera capsule if nothing turns up with...
  13. Hi everyone, I travel fairly often and there's never much I can eat at the airport. As such, I frequently picked up a bag of peanuts or cashews in the airport stores just to have something to munch on. I went to buy some nuts on a recent trip and reread the ingredients. The most common brand of nuts sold in airports seems to be Snak Club. Well, Snak...
  14. I actually had 2, brought one home with me. I had the pork one, which was great, and the eggplant, which was pretty good (I liked the pork better). I was surprised it was so cheap too. I sure hope they can stay in business. I'll definitely go up there as often as I can. The gelatto looked great! I didn't get any because they were about to close and I...
  15. Hi, just wanted to say thanks for recommending Socca Oven! We tried it last night and it's YUMMY. Susan
  16. I felt horrible on the elimination diet too! Now I think I know why. I got my IgG food intolerance test results which showed a major reaction to almonds. I was probably eating more almonds than usual on the elimination diet because it was something I thought was ok. I kept eliminating stuff but hadn't made it to almonds yet. Erg. S
  17. I think the ban applies to liquids and gels only. I flew a few days ago and brought a sandwich. They didn't seem to have a problem with that. Here's a link to the TSA website. Open Original Shared Link. It doesn't say that you can't bring food, just stuff like Jello, pudding, whipped cream. Damn, how am I going to make due without my customary can...
  18. Hi Erica, My job requires travel, one or two nights away each week on average. I had been doing this job before I found out about my Celiac and have certainly had to make some huge adjustments. I'm not sure I would have gone into it if I had known about the Celiac earlier. But, it is definitely possible to deal with and if the job is something really...
  19. Thanks Tiffany! I will definitely talk with them about doing something similar to what you have done. Susan
  20. I've always had low blood pressure. Today at the doc mine was 98/66. I too wonder if it related to Celiac? S
  21. Hi George, I just got my York IgG tests back last week. The only thing that came back as highly reactive was almonds. Eggs were moderate. I already knew about eggs and hadn't been eating them. I cut out the almonds about 8 days ago and it seems like the results are good so far. My headaches and fatigue seem to have improved. Some of my digestional stuff...
  22. Hi, I'm in the bay area. You might want to join the Yahoo group called "celiacbayarea". It's a pretty active group. S
  23. Hi Tiffany, just curious how you got into teaching the servers about CC at Outback? Are you employed by them to do this? My local Outback is pretty good, but they don't seem overly aware when it comes to gluten free. I would definitely volunteer to spend some time training the servers. S
  24. I've had the same issue with the butter many times. After getting sick once, I now feel my veggies to see if they are greasy! If so, I send them back. The Outback near me got a new gluten free menu about a month ago. I hope it's up to date. S
  25. Hi, Sorry that you are so restricted. I sure know how that feels. It's extremely frustrating. I decided to do a 96 food igg test and FINALLY got it back. It shows that I have a huge reaction to almonds! Of course, I eat almonds every single day because they are in my gluten free bread. DOH. I know not everyone thinks these test are accurate, but...
