    Along the same lines ... I've been on the diet for about a year, but it took a long time to really find all the gluten in my life. I've just changed most of my makeup, shampoo, soap, etc. But, how about laundry and diswashing detergents? Do these need to be gluten free too?     I had a bunch of trips to Boston last year and ate there a bunch of times. I never had a problem. However, some employees seem to "get it" better than others. I'm not sure how good their training is, but the food is usually great! I wouldn't be surprised if there was a mix up somehow. S

    Hi Jennifer, I'm very sorry to hear about the miscarriages. Hairloss is also a symptom of low thyroid. I'd check with your primary care physician and have them do a blood workup. Women with thyroid problems also tend to have more miscarriages. And, Celiac and thyroid problems seem to go hand in hand. S

    Yes! I get these too. These headaches were one of my worst symptoms. They are better since going gluten-free last year but they still seem to happen at times. I figure it's a reaction to something I am eating, however, I have no idea what. S

    I just checked on Mucinex (as I am about to cough up a lung myself) this morning and their web site says it is gluten free. I've taken Nyquil liquid caps before, but I don't have the current info on it, so I'm not completely sure. S

    Hi Donna, The latest normal range for TSH only goes up to 2 (can't remember the minimum now), so anything over 2 is considered to be a problem. It's pretty borderline (subclinical hypothyroidism), but it could absolutely be affecting you. Many people report feeling good when their TSH is around 1.     I had some great gluten free pasta at Maggiano's (Santana Row) in San Jose. The chef was very nice, made a ton of it for me so I could take some home. I live in the area but get stuck going to the same old places, Outback and PF Changs. However, most higher end restaurants in the area are good about making accomodations.     I don't agree with this advice. If you'd had hasimoto's for a while, your thyroid may already be permenantly damaged. If you thyroid is damaged, being on a gluten free diet will not fix the damage that was already done - although hopefully it will prevent it from getting worse. Susan

    That does sound like an appt from hell! I've had appts like that and it is amazingly frustrating. Hang in there. Doctors are very clueless sometimes. It's not even the cluelessness that bothers me, it's that they are unwilling to listen or admit that they don't know everything. Susan
