  1. Ever considered lyIng at the hospital? I would. Geez, that's a lot of stress.
  2. So glad it went well. Cocktail hour always does, right?
  3. I let mine sit out 1 day. I also make it ahead and freeze it...but am wondering if that's good or bad for gluten-free cornbread. I'm on the cornbread treadmill...more experimenting to come. Cornstarch is an excellent thickener. DOnt know about tapioca.
  4. Uhm, if you have a skin problem you suspect is DH I'd be very wary of Rice Works. One of the worst "flashback" moments I've had is after eating a small bowl of them. Instant DH. Also had neuro issues but that happens with DH for me... They are loaded with salicylates, salt, food colorings...quite honestly one of the junkiest foods I've ever seen. But...
  5. A week probably won't change blood work; however, no one really knows. Just get it done ASAP. And if you put him back in gluten and it starts again that's a good indicator it's gluten/wheat related. Don't give up!
  6. Omg I couldn't stand anything sweet the first trimester. I made biscuits and almost vomited at the first bite...they tasted sweet (1tbsp. sugar). It passed.... The only think sweet I wanted (and craved) was apples. Couldn't stand coffee, milk, bacon.... The only thing that stuck the full pregnancy was milk. Fat free was tolerable, but barely if...
  7. Yes, one must remember the students are being instructed (and therefore their learning reflects that of their instructors).
  8. Hmmmm..... Ham/cream cheese wrapped asparagus. Relish tray... Turducken roulade stuffed with cornbread dressing. Carrot souffle. Some sort of green beans....perhaps wrapped in bacon and baked??? Gravy (from chicken drippings since that roulade won't give up juice). Homemade, liquored up cranberry sauce. Perhaps Chebe rolls/bread sticks.... Chocolate...
  9. It could relieve some, but probably not all. Could also be an allergy (which doesn't eliminate Celiac, but allergies are fast-acting and fast-going, generally).
  10. Ooh, valley fever can be BAD. Lethal, actually. Ironic how most people are asymptomatic, but it really hurts others.
  11. Have fun. Yeah...if it acts like DH it probably is. That's the only consistency I've found in the zillions of posts compared to the scanty and repetitive info I've found.
  12. Love it! Laughed out loud at the "if I take a sip of your soda will I catch your "bread thing"..... I'd like to add that you may be Celiac if you watch what people eat and think "you're NUTS!".
  13. See the description for the last eczema type: Open Original Shared Link Perhaps this is what the derm thinks it is? If s/he won't biopsy (to see if it's DH) there's really not much else to do but try to relieve symptoms. It's incredibly frustrating, I know. Whether mine is DH or eczema or little aliens in my skin....gluten withdrawal seems to solve...
  14. Perhaps. Pits and grow lights? Many veggies can be grown in pots - tomatoes, potatoes, herbs, peppers.... Apples can be kept in a cellar for a while after harvest.... Find a local permaculture group.
  15. If you can stand in the middle of a candy store and not be tempted to taste even one piece for fear of spending a week trying to detox....you might be a Celiac. Btw the top shelf liquor one is sooo true!
  16. Bell peppers - tag but nothing about wax, just a bar code and producer name. Clementines - ON BOTTOM of box but no tag on bag in box. Cherry tomatoes - no wax info and in little plastic container packed by grower. Not super shiny. Organic apples - no wax info, but they aren't super shiny. In bag from grower. Just what I had on hand...
  17. Try probiotics and digestive enzymes ( gluten free, of course!). I use pb8 (but I think it has milk), and Digest Gold (don't know about the milk). Both help a lot in the beginning, especially.
  18. I never see signs saying produce has been waxed...when it obviously has been. The only time I've seen it is on a bag (packed by grower) - said "resin".
  19. I've seen it said "food grade wax". Beyond that it's tough to nail down. Perhaps if you call the grower? Maybe Stephanie knows... I did see organic apples at TJ's labeled as having a coating.
  20. I'd make them fix it somewhere else if you're reacting to gluten like that....kids aren't exactly neat and clean chefs and flour FLIES through the air....
  21. I have no idea why or how but it's common knowledge that companion planting influences tastes of fruit/veggie producing plants. I'd have to dig out all of my stuff (which I'm not gonna do) but certain produce is more negatively affected than others (and certain plants are more guilty of causing it than others). It's also very likely that "stuff" sticks...
  22. Uhm, yeah! I'd get my hands on the negative Celiac blood tests - all of those tests, actually. If you aren't Celiac, you could be gluten intolerant-same cure...no gluten! Good luck and hope it goes well.
  23. Perhaps it would be a good idea to get a copy of the biopsy lab report and any associated comments, notes? Never know what they say.... Many people need probiotics/enzymes in addition to a gluten-free diet to get their system working again. I can't believe they didn't address your C earlier. Ugh!
  24. It's a super-duper probiotic. It's not unusual for people with digestive issues to benefit from probiotics and digestive enzymes. I'd definitely give it a long trial ( 3-4 months) then get another endoscopy. I'm glad it's working for you. C is literally a pain in the butt! The question is why do you have the "ulcers"?
  25. Yes, it can happen. Wheat Germ Oil does it to me...in cosmetics, shampoos. I've had a few "WTF, you've gotta be kiddin' me" moments in the last 5 months. I particularly loved my eyes swelling after applying eye cream.
