  1. Wasabi powder? It's horseradish, but distinct. Dang sure unstops my nose.
  2. For me that would be a big tattoo!
  3. I looked at a lot of them before I chose Medic Alert...I like their service and profile abilities. Thing to remember is you want something that looks like a medical bracelet/necklace. The goal is for it to be seen in an emergency. Unfortunately if it's too fashionable it's just jewelry...
  4. Sorry it's so bad. Do be careful with the steroid creams on your face. Many are too strong for the delicate skin of the face, which is why Derms usually rx a specific one for the face.
  5. Be careful with the chiropractor thing, especially of s/he claims Celiac can be cured or put into remission by something other than a gluten-free diet... Same thing with thyroid stuff. Carefully research what is said..... Now, I know at least 3 people will scream about that.
  6. And BTW his best bet at a "regular" grocery store around Phoenix after 9 pm is a Fry's Marketplace (a BIG one). They usually have a big natural foods section with lots of gluten-free options. Safeway has started labeling some foods as "gluten-free" with a sticker on the shelf underneath. Fry's does the same, just more of them. I THINK Basha's has a...
  7. If you are noticing contact reactions from wheat you need to STOP EATING IT AND TOUCHING IT NOW. You can develop allergies at any time and you never know when the next contact will give you an anaphalactyc reaction. It could also be something else in the cracker, but if going gluten-free has helped in the past the two reactions are a really good hint...
  8. Yes, I use BRM baking powder and the batter is VERY THICK. Mine are about 1 inch thick, my Dad's can peak at 2. He's the pancake king. Of course, these are gluten... I'm going to try my old recipe and see, using gluten-free flour. I had not tried converting recipes because I thought they wouldn't work, but I'm ready to give it a whirl. I think I'm...
  9. You're thinking of food, I get it. But what your son needs to understand is that the locals (except those who are in the building trades) are INSIDE by the end of May during the day. We hear news reports daily that time of year about CareFlights for tourists stuck on the side of a mountain, or on a hike, dehydrated and burnt to a crisp. You can't just...
  10. I live in AZ (lived in the Phoenix area, now Tucson). There are very few gluten-free options outside the major metro areas, unless you can cook with whole foods. Also, it's beside the point if he has an issue with heat. This is heat x 2, on steroids with a grudge. You CAN NOT avoid the sun unless you are inside during the day. It reflects, it bounces around...
  11. I have a MedicAlert bracelet. I think they have some with leather bands. Look at see.
  12. You probably can, just not if it's from the store named after that big river.... Anyway, aside from what was said above some people just "feel bad" on iodine. I never tried it because my mother tried it and it didn't work for her. Bad excuse but I'm glad I didn't since all it gives me is a freakin' rash!
  13. Ok, so I tried the KAF pancakes. Again. Every other time (3?) I've followed the recipe and used xanthan gum. It was exactly the same using chia. I did double the chia (2 tsp.) because the recipe has always made flat pancakes and I was hoping for a bit of lift. No luck. That said, I don't like the recipe. The pancakes are flat...like fast-food pancakes...
  14. Omg I get panicked just thinking about it...
  15. This is why I ask.... https://www.celiac.com/articles/21880/1/Is-Gluten-Sensitivity-a-Neurological-Disease/Page1.html I assume it would help with DH (iga is an autoimmune reaction).
  16. My dq2 is clearer, does that make sense? The dq8 is a translated gene. I still wonder about the dh, and neuro issues...and does it stop the autoimmune cascade?
  17. And is it effective against DH? I'm half dq2, half dq8. Wonder if it works on half genes?
  18. Okay, WHAT vaccine?
  19. Thanks for the info. The sales girl knew nothing about how they came to be found... I bet SuperMoose will enjoy one. Maybe I'll put one in his stocking .
  20. We stick with Kongs. My dog literally destroys anything else...in two minutes. They were selling antlers (as chew bones) at the pet store. Thought about it and couldn't get Bambi out of my mind....
  21. That's a complicated question, and I don't have the answer. Hashis patients can swing between the two...I think I have swung and I am on rx daily. You may have other hormone issues, also...just because they are in the normal range doesn't mean they are balanced. I think low vitamin/mineral levels can contribute to the palpitations-cal/mag, iron, vit...
  22. I so get this. I had no Celiac antibody testing - my ND assumed "gluten intolerance" instead of Celiac because I had no gastro symptoms and was dx'ed with Hashis and "felt bad from thyroid stuff". She thought my rash was ringworm... Good news, she quickly recognized the mistake. Bad news is the window has passed. Sometimes I wonder...can I eat a...
  23. Use chia instead of gums. I'm going to try KA pancakes in the morning subbing chia. I'll let you know...
  24. I'd try the blood sugar thing first, seems the most obvious. Try adding fiber in every meal, it stretches the protein. Eat every 2 hours before you're hungry. I'm sure you know all of this, but just thought I'd toss it in. I went through a phase with blood sugar. It was awful.
