  1. If he has DH iodine can aggrivate it. Faux milks usually have carageenan and/or sea salt in them. Carageenan is enough to make me itch if I've flared recently. Also, some dh people are salicylate sensitive and coconut is a very strong salicylate. Google "thyca" for a list of iodone rich foods to avoid...and read the DH forum here. Ice packs help...
  2. ....and unless I missed something up there you are IGA deficient which means your iga is invalid. And I don't see other Celiac blood tests. We're there more????? Does the Igg mean anything in absence of other tests? Someone else chime in....
  3. The new train of thought is Hashis is caused by gluten intolerance....
  4. Well, I think I'm cured. Made a giant pot of Italian chicken soup ( chop chop chop), some Chebe focaccia, and a KA chocolate cake with buttercream frosting. 3 hours of chopping, mixing, and washing dishes later I was exhausted... In the summers here I hate to eat - I'm in the desert SW and 100+ degrees makes my stomach turn if I have to stand in...
  5. Don't worry one bit. My son lives quite well without gluten at home (as does my husband). When you're out and you can control your contact (and Dad can handle it and the clean-up) let 'em have it. It is amazingly simple. Worry about something else, like your flowers for the wedding, or your honeymoon .
  6. Haven't tried their pasta but I tried their "fig newtons" and they are pretty good. I like corn/quinoa pasta so probably wouldn't try the rice.
  7. Kettle brand chips are great and gluten-free. Tostitos restaurant style are labeled gluten-free. Mexican food is a better bet but ask of the chips are fried In a shared fryer with wheat, and if they add wheat to their sauces for thickening. Chipotle is a fast-ish food chain (Mexican) that does a very good job with gluten-free.
  8. Well, I don't have much for you except this... I'd stay away from McDonalds. Try In-N-Out burger instead. They are gluten-free except the bun and when you order tell them to press the allergy button and it's the bun. They'll wrap your burger in lettuce instead. They will have restaurants on Vegas and Cali and most especially on the road. As far as grocery...
  9. And some dish gloves!
  10. To the OP, my doc thought variances within 1 point were "normal" on a tsh. As long as you didn't get out of range....
  11. Oh man, I am having the worst winter munchies! I could just eat and eat...I want SWEETS! There's a box of KA chocolate cake mix in my pantry with my name on it...it would be sooo easy... Am I the only one that gets like this???
  12. You may not be absorbing the vitamins.... If I calculate correctly you'll get tested again in Feb.?
  13. If you have DH and have been on steroids at the time around Celiac testing you are more likely to test falsely negative. DH Celiacs have patchier than usual intestinal damage and are more likely to test negative on blood tests. Steroids are actually used to treat refractory Celiac and decrease inflammation and that could contribute to a negative biopsy...
  14. Get a Kong and shove peanut butter in there. I assume you aren't allergic to peanuts...
  15. If the dough is ready to bake (and you want to make cookies later) just roll it into a ball, wrap it and freeze it. Thaw it later and roll it out/cut it and bake it. Or, you could use it to make something else as Takala described above.
  16. Have you been screened for other autoimmune diseases like RA? You may also have other food intolerances causing the vomiting. I'd get to an endocrinologist...
  17. I used to (and I'm sure it will happen again) get freaky little rashes on my face when my seasonal allergies got bad or during cold, dry weather. Just be kind and moisturize and if something topical aggravates it, keep it off. The only consistency I've found to helping clear rashes up, regardless of type is moisturizing... Don't use a steroid unless...
  18. It took about 2 months for me to react to topical gluten. Then, after investing in multiple bottles of my skin care (that was "gluten sensitive safe" but still had gluten in it) my eyes started swelling. Changed to MyChelle and the swelling went away. Was still using an Aveda product with gluten (ingredients were on package but I didn't have package) in...
  19. Eventually it will improve. I'm sorry it's so rough right now. It can take a while for the iga to lower in your skin. Everyone is different. Figuring out food ingredients is hard... I noticed I started picking up "favorites" the other day at the store - stuff that has been "safe" and I wasnt checking labels. That's a recipe for disaster and I know eventually...
  20. Good luck. Saw your other posts about a new joint issue. That really sucks. Hope you feel better soon.
  21. Iodine is specific to DH (or thyroid disease..,but that's another post). Iodine fans the flame of DH in a lot of people...so if you have iga in your skin (DH) and toss in iodine you're likely to get more rash. Not all DH sufferers are iodine sensitive, so you never know... But if you have a rash you suspect is DH and you eat iodine (and no other suspect...
  22. Mushroom, thank you! Do you use sorghum and almond flour together? I like the idea of adding a nut flour but don't know of the two are very compatible. Also, are you able to forgo the gums using sorghum, generally?
  23. Okay, I need help. I want to try a sorghum blend using Authentic Foods superfine sorghum... and it needs to be brown rice free (my Mom has a problem eating brown rice, and I need a mix to use while she's here). I'd also like it to be as multi-purpose as possible and not specific to just making specific items as some blends are. Any ideas? Many...
  24. Joe Joe's are like Oreos covered in dark chocolate (I think peppermint flavored) with peppermint sprinkled on top. They had been a seasonal addiction for all. I almost cracked a bottle of wine in the store as I stood there staring at them... and right now I can't drink wine without turning green so that tells you how I feel about them. I have thought...
