  1. I think I saw one post from someone in India. Have you searched the forum for "India"?
  2. I've become a huge fan of corn chips (Tostitis has one labeled gluten-free) and salsas. Most salsas are gluten-free. I live in the southwest so there are generally a zillion to taste. I also found a tamale restaurant that is gluten-free and I buy them and freeze them and pop them out all the time. I am a fruit and nut snacker, maybe rice crackers. I...
  3. This is stretching it but I've observed a friend of mine who has twin girls - one twin is diabetic and has some limits on her physical activities due to the diabetes (and incidentally just delivered a baby and had a very high risk pregnancy) and the other is very healthy, not diabetic and an athlete. Mom just had her gallbladder out. Do you know how...
  4. You make a good point. I think we sometimes miss the first eruption of DH. In retrospect I had a spot on my thigh I suspected was ringworm but was probably DH. This was about 6 months before the "big rash" erupted under my arms and became a permanent resident. And that's just the spot I remember - very possibly could have been more before that.
  5. I made pancakes using KA flour. I make a full batch of batter and refrigerate half overnight for the next day's pancakes.... Anyway, the batch using the chia was fine the first day (noticed no difference between using chia and xanthan). Second day it was hideous. Made another batch leaving out chia and xanthan... first day was better than the two using...
  6. Yes, they whisper sweet nothings as they land on your hips...
  7. I haven't seen anyone mention grinding. You do whisk them in water. The longer they sit, the more they dissolve.
  8. Gluten had started giving me migraines. Not daily, they were triggered by bad seasonal allergies or bright lights (action movies, car headlights). So, if you are getting cc'd at home that could be doing it. Also, I went through hellacious headaches going off an antihistimine. Tylenol fixed it. I get a few headaches now when the barometric pressure changes...
  9. Check out these recipes. She uses chia and flax. Open Original Shared Link
  10. I'm sorry you're in so much pain. I had awful plantar fasciitis for years from my Hashis. I took a yoga class and she had yoga balls and they were great for concentrating pressure in my back and other hard to reach areas. I especially love the spikey yoga balls - half circles with rubber spikes that you step on. I still use these if my feet or legs hurt...
  11. Dairy (milk products) are in this case not in the same category as eggs. So you can have a problem with one and not another. Also, when traveling and eating out it is almost impossible to tell if you are getting glutened. However, if you notice a problem eating milk products by all means drop them until you get home. Hood luck, it's terrible travelling...
  12. I find it's generally the liquid or fat ratio. I made some chocolate chip cookies too wet (I know the recipe works since I've used it before) and they did that. Also, some gluten-free recipes need to have the fat reduced by a bit - maybe 1/4?? It's really trial and error. I also have luck separating eggs and whipping the whites stiff and folding...
  13. 20% of Crohn's patients are Celiac. So it MAY run together.... If you want to tweak your brother lay that one out with an Udi's grilled cheese. Make sure you smile.
  14. Bad Chad... No, I doubt I always get sick from gluten or break out in a rash...because I have been sick very few times and only broken out once and I seriously doubt I've really been THAT lucky not to get glutened in the last 5 and a half months. That said, we went out Friday night and I ate from a gluten-free menu...and they didn't leave out the shrimp...
  15. Roda's suggestion is the best one (wet paper towel). Don't grill them! Kinnikinnick has a bun that is more like a roll. It falls apart easily, though. I've learned to use very few bread products - hamburger and hot dog buns are the two I buy because I simply can't replicate them and they are so specific. Bread crumbs or bread chunks in dressing...
  16. Anything is possible. Allergies can develop at any time. It's also possible that iodine builds up like iga antibodies (what causes dh) build up - and the effect can be cumulative. I really don't know. And I don't know anything about a skin iodine test for DH. My adventures with iodine have all been by ingestion. My suggestion is to withdraw high iodine...
  17. If you are allergic to iodine you would react with sloughing skin. Not all DH sufferers react to iodone but a fair amount do. I react but have never tried a skin test. Eating sushi and a day of eggs and dairy is enough proof for me.
  18. I don't have a recipe offhand but if you like chili rellenos they are made in an egg white batter....
  19. This looks easy. Open Original Shared Link
  20. I'd try adding cocoa to the meringue cookie or the whipped cream. Also might add coffee extract. I'd try orange liquor as well as sherry or bourbon...toss winter fruit in Cointreau and simple syrup and pile in the meringue.
  21. Btw you can freeze egg whites! Open Original Shared Link
  22. Tart Angelique 8 egg whites 2 cups sugar 1 tsp vinegar 1 tsp. vanilla 1/2 pint whipping cream Flavor cream highly with sherry or whiskey. Add 2 tablespoons sugar. Beat whites for 10 minutes, add sugar gradually by sifting a little in at a time, beating for 10 minutes. Add vinegar and vanilla. Put in a large deep cake pan with loose bottom lightly...
  23. Fluff cakes 6 egg whites 1 cup sugar 1/2 pint cream 1 tsp. vanilla Beat egg whites 30 minutes add sugar very gradually.beat more. Drop the mixture from a spoon about 3 inches apart, on a well greased wax paper placed on a baking sheet. Light oven as you place cakes in. Bake very slowly about 40 minutes. Serve with whipped cream, put the cream on...
  24. I have pics of my rash on my iPhone. I guess I could whip them out if needed. I won't advise others to take pics of GI issues, but assume there's at least one jerk who deserves to have such pics tossed in his/her face for pressing for details.
  25. Tiny sips of Gatorade. 1 sip every 15 minutes, accompanied by a sip of water. Try a baked potato for food. When I was sick a few months ago and dry heaving that's what worked for me. Typical food poisoning involves both ends....not saying you didn't get something bad but hoping you didn't because it usually takes longer to get through than gluten...
