  1. I don't know if you are familiar with TJ's products...but their labeling is a bit different. They will say "no gluten ingredients" and likely say what shared lines it was made on. When I first went gluten-free I didn't bother reading the shared line info there, just picked up "no gluten ingredients" products...and kept getting sick and breaking out specifically...
  2. Stuffing. A breakfast strata... If you aren't picky about French toast... Anything that covers the taste. gluten-free bread actually bakes well in casseroles, etc. (thank goodness!).
  3. I shop there all the time and have good luck with certain things...but chocolates and nuts seem to be where it falls apart. I'm trying Minty Melts and Chocokate Liquor Filled Cherries. So far so good... Both are made on shared equipment but not wheat shared.
  4. Really? We have BC BS Mass (but we aren't in Mass) and ours was much lower. Then again, that was 3 or so years ago. Hmmm...
  5. Armour wasn't covered under my prescription plan but it was still less than paying for the synthetic - I think it was around $6 a month??? I remember it was laughable, how inexpensive it was when the pharmacists gave me the speech about how it wasn't covered....
  6. Wow, that's an imaginative name. What idiot thought that one up? At least it's descriptive... Do you happen to know if Armour has iodine because it's animal organ? I used to take it, but after the reformulation it just didn't work as well for me. I've purposely gone away from animal (fish and organ) supplaments because I wanted to control my iodine...
  7. Is she eating a lot of iodine? Google "thyca" for a list of high iodone foods. Iodine can make DH flare. Some people feel sick when DH breaks out, others not. It could be just the DH or some gluten sneaking in, or she could have developed a new food intolerance. Double-check everything - just because a food has been safe doesn't mean it continues....
  8. ...during the holiday and surrounded by old seasonal lovess! I almost lost it.... Got out of there with 2 treats gluten-free and not made on wheat lines. I think that was a minor miracle. No, the miracle will be if I don't get sick...
  9. Yeah, iodone overload will probably tell...but that's just WICKED. I vote for self deprivation for a few days - because I'm a weenie about that nasty rash. .
  10. That is an excellent tsh number for most. Did you have a TPO run to see if you are Hashis? Celiac is a good reason to find out, and ask for a full thyroid panel. Sometimes the other tests can be off, and your tsh be normal. Abnormal results on other thyroid tests can be reason for treatment.
  11. Ditto what mushroom said... And you don't have to eat processed gluten-free food. I don't eat much...just a piece of bread here and there, a bagel once a month... I bake occasionally, and do have a love affair with tamales and corn chips. Used to be chocolate - go figure! And if you are suspecting DH, try a low iodone diet. It can help tremendously...
  12. I'm very sorry to hear that, rosetapper. Could you please explain what thyroid med you are on?
  13. There was a Jacksonville thread on here at one point... I paid attention because my parents live in St. Aug... I remember some restaurants being record in the area on that thread. Search under Jacksonville and you may find it.
  14. Shiny metal is what I always saw recommended for best browning. Now I see Wilton nonstick stuff... but I don't buy nonstick stuff for the reason the OP stated. I think gluten-free breads brown/burn faster than gluten breads, so that is an interesting experiment to try with glass or ceramic. That said, I made bread in an Airbake shiny aluminum pan...
  15. We're having spaghetti and meatballs. I'll trade you! That really is great news, excluding corn can be difficult IMO.
  16. You know, I wonder what WILL happen when there is an rx treatment. Will doctors suddenly start dx'ing? I wonder how many people will come out of the woodwork who have been gluten-free but never got an official dx either by chance, choice, or because of negative testing. Will the criteria for dx or treatment be loosened?? Will be interesting to see...
  17. I hate the way articles like this make it sound like you have to eat bland, plain food. The recipes don't reflect that, but the writing does. Just once I'd like to see someone say "I eat just like before, with a few ingredient . I don't see why the recipes would not have been gluten-free, unless the condiments weren't. The author doesn't talk about reading...
  18. When I visited my parents (who live on the beach) I did not break out. I guess I should say it was no worse...it was a slightly red time???? We swam quite a few times while we were there.... This was 1 1/2 years ago. Didn't go this summer, too busy.
  19. Tonight. Used to put it up the weekend closest to the 12th - my Dad's birthday but my son doesn't see the rationale. I still have to get the rest of the house decorated...that's tomorrow. I'm tired.
  20. Some poblanos are pretty warm. They do that to me even if they don't taste hot. Hope you don't wear contacts...
  21. If you stick with whole foods and stay out of the processed foods aisles your budget will go farther. Dried beans, peas, etc. are super cheap and gluten-free. You may need to eat them in moderation in the beginning, though since they can be hard to digest and your GI system will be healing. gluten-free flour mix will probably be the single most expensive...
  22. That's what I was thinking! We usually hit the candy HARD on Christmas morning!
  23. I don't have a casserole tradition but it sounds good. Bring it on!!
