  1. We have a great Paleo Book that we enjoy a lot, it is called Paleo Comfort Foods by Julie and Charles Mayfield. I have a website I just made the BEST cake I have ever eaten, it is Open Original Shared Link. Also I like a website called punchfork, on this webstie you can choose your diet type (glueten free, vegitarian, paleo) and it will search the world...
  2. I had a lot of success eating gluten free in Charleston, but it was two - three years ago and I was only a couple weeks into being gluten free, so even though I emailed everyone before I left about gluten free, I still probably had some cross contamination questions I didn't address. I will look for my list (I am a planner) and see where we ate and come...
  3. I purchase mine in Super Target or Publix by the bags of chicken patties, and those type things. The bag is white and has green writing. They have a few grilled and no breaded as well as breaded. They do sell non gluten free as well, but the gluten free ones are marked right on the front of the bag.
  4. Dermatitis herpetiformis (DH) is not a skin allergy. Rather, DH is a chronic, extremely itchy rash consisting of papules and vesicles. Although it is often confused with skin allergies, it is actually associated with Open Original Shared Link (celiac disease), a sensitivity of the intestine to gluten foods in the diet. celiac disease is also not a foold allergy...
  5. Peeptoad - Soulds like you have DH, there is a section on this board about dermatitis herpetiformis, I bet if you look at some of those photos and read up on it (based on your current description) you will find that this is what you have. A lot of the people that have this not only have to go gluten free but iodine free as well. You also say when you eat...
  6. I can not say if these products contain nut oil or not. But I went to over the counter gluten free products and was still having a lot of trouble, dermatologist said I could expect to be hyper sensative for a few years to other things as well. Anyway, I use Originial Srouts hair products, they are ceterified gluten free and free of many other things and...
  7. I had celiac years before I every had DH (rash associated with celiac), of course I didn't know I had celiac because all my tests were coming back negative and I keep getting the IBS diagnosis. When I first broke out in the rash, I was still eating gluten, and was tested multiple times for wheat allergies, through blood tests as well as pick tests, and both...
  8. Yes Zatarains spanish rice is safe, they have a couple others that are safe too, I believe that the last several times I have picked them up they even have a big "gluten free" dot on on the front of the boxes. I know you were asking for dinner options, but if you ate a dinner type meal at home before work, you could always pack more like a lunch option...
  9. I love to make Zataran's spanish rice, refried beans and put it and all my "nacho" fixings in a container, after I warm it up I add lettuce and sour cream and have a taco salad, sometimes with chips sometimes without.
  10. I have been gluten free just over a year and have several other autoimmune diseases as well, but about 3 months ago I had terrible issues with sciatic, I went to a chiroprator and added stretches and even was haveing deep tissue massage. I was getting very little if any relief, but my chiro is the lead dr on a Fibromyalga board so he had a lot of experience...
  11. Hi, I took Culturelle and switched to Align, I really like Align and love that I can find the bigger box at Sams. I didn't have any issues with the culturelle except heartburn, which I don't have on the Align.
  12. I have never had any trouble with the NY style potato salad from Publix, the mananger at our deli verified that it was gluten free before I had it the first time, but that was a year ago. I eat it probably once a month with no issues. The rotiserre chicken there is gluten free too, and the chicken comes in bags of the merinade, those bags are in boxes...
  13. I have gotten a flu shot for years, but last year when I was having all my DH issues and still undiagnosed I was afraid too and when I asked my Dr. he told me I should be ok and then ended it with "don't make a liar out of me now" so I chose not to get one. In the last two years I have added 2 autoimmune diseases to my lifestyle and I always have an elevated...
  14. Thanks for posting this, we are headed there in December. I am going to print and keep this for when we go.
  15. Since seeing your suggestion for eliminating Iodine as well I have been symptom free. Yahoo!!! How long do you suggest before I add it back a little at a time?
  16. I am going to my dermatologist in a couple days for a rash that doesn't appear to be DH like my other rashes have been. I have been gluten free for almost a year (October will be one year) if I understand things correctly I can not be tested for DH becuase it will not be accurate since I have been gluten free, is this information correct?
  17. I too have this along the back of my neck and on my scalp, sometimes behind my ears and was loosing huge clumps of hair, I have thick hair so it wasn't noticable to anyone but me, but I swear I could have made a wig or two with it. My rash was all over my body and actually was diagnosed with a positive TPO for hos$#&moto's by an allergist, the Endo he...
  18. Eatmeat - Yes it has been responsive to going gluten free, I have been gluten free since last October, I have now eliminated Iodine as I also have Hoshimoto's. Right now I am almost clear. My original rash when I was diagnosed was full body and was very much like my face. Now I notice it has moved, my body itself (other than my arms) do not react if I...
  19. Hope I did this right! The pictures of my "typical" DH are not very good, but here they are. http://i1266.photobucket.com/albums/jj538/eeyorelvr38/IMGP4579.webp Here is what I say is not typical, but this is also where I have my first reaction and well as my worst reaction. This one is just a few of the spots http://i1266.photobucket...
  20. Thanks Squirm and Eatmeat - I have taken many pictures, but none of them seem to really show what is going on or do it justice so I kind of gave up, next time I will try again. My arms seem to break out fairly typical as well as my scalp, my face and neck break out a little different, but yes I have seen a picture or two that resemble mine (I might have...
  21. Squirm - oh I do believe that iodine plays a big role and I found out the hard way that sea salt was not good. I was eating these amazing chips called corn poppers and I keep breaking out, I thought it was corn, but I knew I could eat other corn things, then I realized they were Sea Salt corn poppers. No more for me But if you do stumble across that...
  22. When I went to my dermo he said that for at least two years I would have some outbreaks that would appear for no apparent reason and also that I may be hyper sensative to things for that time as well. My question is I seem to now be reacting to something else (probably Iodine since I also have Hoshimoto's, and research shows this too is an issue) does that...
  23. So my it was my grandma's 87th birthday, and to date I have not had a lot of success with baking, most things just do not taste very good. I found a chocolate cake recipe that sounded great. I made it the night before and frosted it and put it in the fridge, the next day 12 people had their slices and were already eating when I started to dig into mine...
  24. These were my most obvious, but after being on meds, I realize I had many more. My hair was falling out in huge handfuls (luckily I have thick hair). Weird ridges in my finger nails. Exhaustion. But my problem was not resolved until I broke out with DH and since mine isn't your "typical" rash the allergist I was sent to suspected thyroid and...
  25. Mango's, Barefoot, Texus de Brazil. Kitchen has emailed me and will accommodate gluten-free. I understand arepas is corn flour and makes a great sandwich. If you think of ANYTHING, please let me know. Thanks again.

Sounds like you had an awesome time.
