ARCHIVED Snyders Gluten Free Pretzels
Alwayssomething replied to Alwayssomething's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
You guys are braver than I am This one is more brown Ravenswoodglass, and super thin. I just had never encountered one in any of the bags I have eaten. I am just to chicken to try it although I have eaten half the bag since I bought it and it hasn't made me sick, so if it was a gluten filled one it probably would have happened already. -
ARCHIVED Snyders Gluten Free Pretzels
Alwayssomething posted a topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Today while eating these at work I found a small thin pretzel in the bag with the normally wider pretzels. It clearly looked like a old fashion thin stick pretzel. I immediately went online and emailed Snyders of Hanover and asked if their certified gluten free pretzels are made on a dedicated line. Here is my response: "The gluten free pretzels are... -
ARCHIVED Carnival Cruise Gluten Free Experience
Alwayssomething replied to DFowers's topic in Traveling with Celiac Disease
Sorry I never came back and replied. We had a very successful cruise. I never did get to try the deli station, and the manager was extremely helpful showing me items that were safe and getting me set up for the first night to insure I had gluten free dinner. I ate breakfast in the main dining area several days, but some days it was just impossible to... -
I started out weekly for 8 weeks then monthly and have been doing that for 2 years. My B-12 was 192 when I started and with last blood work almost 6 months ago I am barely 400. I can tell when I am due my shot by my body not a calendar, and would love to go to every two weeks, but my dr will not let me. I did take a 6 month break to see if my body could...

ARCHIVED Help, Please! I Don't Know How To Eat Out Or If I Can?
Alwayssomething replied to shiffy k's topic in Gluten-Free Restaurants
We travel a lot, and this is something we really enjoy. When I was diagnosed I didn’t want this disease to define me and or control my life and I decided then I would not change this aspect of my life. In fact I was diagnosed in August/September and had a vacation booked for October. In all my trips I have been glutened once. That first October t... -
ARCHIVED Most Ridiculous Gluten Comment I've Heard
Alwayssomething replied to C-Girl's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
While out of town I went to a restaurant I had researched online to not only have gluten free options but good comments from people who had eaten gluten free there. When we entered I asked for a gluten free menu, the hostess told me the manager would come to our table. Great! Until she got there, she asked if I had anything other than gluten I could... -
ARCHIVED Carnival Cruise Gluten Free Experience
Alwayssomething replied to DFowers's topic in Traveling with Celiac Disease
Thank you so much! This information will really help. We just returned from a very successful week in Branson MO. But restaurants are easy to research, cruising is different. I am excited. I will report back on the sandwich station after I return. -
ARCHIVED Carnival Cruise Gluten Free Experience
Alwayssomething replied to DFowers's topic in Traveling with Celiac Disease
Thank you for taking the time to post this, I leave on Carnival Valor in 2 weeks, and never would have thought about the deli or the Lido deck buffet. Awesome info and now I know to ask for a manager for the buffet. What did you do the first night? Everything I see online and speaking with Carnival they just tell me to let them know the first night... -

ARCHIVED Help With My Daughter's 5Th Birthday Cake!
Alwayssomething replied to CeliacMommaX2's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
I am not sure how to copy a website to this, but a really good dairy free, gluten free vanilla cake I have made is from the Primalpalate.com It is the coconut cake, it sounds like it would be strong coconut flavor but it is not and it is very good. I bought the premade frosting and have used other flavors that what she suggest with no problem. It is... -
ARCHIVED Stroganoff Help!
Alwayssomething replied to Ramtar's topic in Gluten-Free Recipes & Cooking Tips
I make both beef and chicken stroganoff gluten free. I use a little bit of corn starch or potato starch in mine to thicken (I have even used minute tapioca in a recipe for thickening) I just tried a new recipe that called for cashewbutter and greek yogurt, as a thickener, I didn't feel like either did a good job adding thickness, but the dish was outstanding... -
ARCHIVED Do You Micro Chip Your Pets?
Alwayssomething replied to BlessedMommy's topic in Introduce Yourself / Share Stuff
We microchipped a dog we had that we should have named Houdini! That was 13 years ago, and we just got a new puppy and microchipped him. We did both when we took them in to be neutered because we were told that the needle was big and although it could be done anytime it was just easier then. I don't remember the exact cost, but it wasn't pricey and it... -

I also take Levothyroxine and mine is Mylan and have not had any trouble. I called Mylan when I first went on it about 4 years ago and they told me it was Gluten Free, as my pharmacy couldn't tell me. In the 4 years I have been on this medication I have had it filled at a mail out pharmacy as well as local and it has never come from another manufacturer... -

ARCHIVED Slicer At The Deli?
Alwayssomething replied to Nikki2777's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Deli's should be slicing cheese on one slicer and roast beef on it's own slicer (rare/blood can't touch other meat) then other meats on their own. If they do not have separate slicers they should be cleaning between the beef and other meats or cheeses. Also you can ask for it to be cleaned before you have yours sliced. Publix supermarkets by me have... -
ARCHIVED Most Ridiculous Gluten Comment I've Heard
Alwayssomething replied to C-Girl's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
I had someone tell me that I could have the brownies she made because she only added nuts, no flour. This same person saved me the Teddy Graham from the top of a cupcake that someone had made becuase the "knew you couldn't have the cupcake". I also had eaten a very plain basic meal at a restaurant on several occasions and never had a problem... -
The What's For Dinner Tonight Chat
Alwayssomething replied to jess-gf's topic in Gluten-Free Recipes & Cooking Tips
Karen - it didn't get mushy or anything, which did surprise me, but because the manwich is wet the egg mixture didn't "flow" between everything it really sat on top more like a sheppard's pie. And of course it cooked more souffle like which was only "ok" on a manwich. We will be sure to try it closer to the original recipe next time, I am sure we will... -
The What's For Dinner Tonight Chat

Last night we tried the "Impossibly Easy Cheeseburger Pie" only I used Mamwich with the hamburger meat, it was "Ok". I will admit i was not sure if the top would come out more bread like or quiche like so I knew this was a risk. I wouldn't make it again with Mamwhich but will be trying it from the original recipte soom. I also made the Cinnamon... -

ARCHIVED Flying And Travelling With Celiac And Hotels, Etc
Alwayssomething replied to KnightRobby's topic in Traveling with Celiac Disease
Open Original Shared Link I have never been asked to throw away any food I have tried to take aboard. I looked on the TSA website and it looks like most things they will not let you bring aboard or things that are gel or liquid type, I do see that they list spreads like cheese and peanut butter, but your go picnic meal will be sealed so I can't imagine... -
ARCHIVED Flying And Travelling With Celiac And Hotels, Etc
Alwayssomething replied to KnightRobby's topic in Traveling with Celiac Disease
I travel quit a bit, out of the country only to Aruba and Mexico which is a pretty short flight. But whenever I fly in the country I always take nuts, go picnic meals, or Snyders pretzel sticks and the individual "bowls" of Peanut butter. Those types of things always make it through security in my carry on. For my checked luggage (probably the only... -

I had a heck of a time finding one, I went to every Lowe's, Home Depot, Target and Walmart in the three cities closest to me. I had a coleman one twice in the past B.C. and loved it. I finally ordered one online, should be here just in time for my 9 day trip in a week. -
ARCHIVED Going To Work...how?!
Alwayssomething replied to tor101's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
I had to apply for FMLA, and that allowed me upto 12 weeks of time off excused by law. My company didn't pay me for those days but they were available whenever I needed them, and for two years I used some of them. The second year I believe I only used three days, so the third year I did not apply for them. This time can also be used for Dr's appts as... -

Alwayssomething replied to across's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
I thought I would pass this on for anyone else who carries granola type bars in their purse/bags, I live in a hot state and keep complaining about mine getting soft, melting etc. Someone suggested I store it in a eyeglass case. This prevents it from getting smashed, not so much the melting, but at least if it gets warm now it holds it's shape.
