  1. Yes it IS possible. If nothing else there is always human error. BUT it is very very very unlikly and easy to check with a simple gluten challenge. Are you SURE your 100% TOTALLY and PERFECTLY gluten-free?
  2. Careful.. it might not be gluten-free. To activate charcoal they use an "organic material" , quite often thats coconut, but it CAN be wheat. One of our more esteemed members here found that (well in her case it was coconut that was the problem) out the hard way when her water filter on her fridge was contaminating her water.
  3. This is my thought too. It be nice to let my son eat a supposedly gluten-free meal at a restaurant with out worries.
  4. If you mean you want to increase your FAT INTAKE that is different then GETTING FAT. To gain weight, INCREASE CARBS (esply SIMPLE CARBS) not FAT. Increasing FAT is healthy, but will usually lead to weight LOSS not gain. As for what is a good fat, this summary says it nicely..
  5. Everyone in this thread that said stay away from gluten , for life is correct. I am guessing that these docs are confused by: The so called CODEX standard that implies "very low gluten" is good enough (unless its been updated?) OR The fact that different people react to different levels of gluten in different ways because they are different...
  6. Did not have have time to read the whole thread yet, but my 3 year old son is the only one that has celiac disease in our house, but we made the house gluten-free because its simpler and MUCH less stressful.
  7. Nancy, try this test.... First you need to fast for at least 8 hours. It easiest to do this while you sleep. Next test your blood. A normal reading at this point is 70-110. (if you reading is OVER 115 or 120, stop the test and get an appointment with an endocritologist or how ever its spelled to get the Oral Glucose Tolerance test asap) Next...
  8. That would be likly due to the fact they are NOT on the gluten-free menu for McDonalds and have wheat listed in their ingredients....
  9. I wanted to write this up in hopes of saving someone else the suffering I went through. When I first joined this forum it was for my son who we learned had celiac disease. But over time I was myself getting sicker and sicker. This is my story of the road to dx and finally beginning recovery: My major symptoms were uncontrollable shakes, vomiting, nausea...
  10. I disagree, my Oster Express Bake was around $50, bought at target and has made every single gluten-free bread both mixes and "from sctrach" with out issue. I just run it on its "normal" cycle, and "medium" for the crust. It has never failed me. I know the conventional wisdom on this board is against me on this, but it is the truth.
  11. First you need to get a handle on what your fighting. Step one. Strip her diet of all foods containing the top 8 allergens : * Milk * Eggs * Peanuts * Tree nuts (such as almonds, cashews, walnuts) * Fish (such as bass, cod, flounder) * Shellfish (such as crab, lobster, shrimp) * Soy * Wheat (I would...
  12. Natalie, As for you question about lotions, I guess you missed my reply several posts back, so here is .. (the short answer, is yes. gluten-free Everything)
  13. Has anyone tried this stuff? Open Original Shared Link It was just mentioned to me on a coffee forum (Yea, I know I am sick LOL) and it sounds perfect? They evne mention gluten-free in bold in center of the page! No calories/sugar/fat/etc make it a perfect additive LOL.
  14. Strictly speaking you NEED food, shelter, and clothing. Beyond that everything a choice (with consequences of course!) . But no, you do not need another biopsy. You already have a DX of celiac disease so there is nothing to be gained UNLESS they are looking for something else also.
  15. Try the gluten-free/CF diet for 30 days. If you see a turn around, then you have all the answer you could ever need. When you find a new doc, tell him about how your daughter reacted to the diet and you will likely get a much better response then the Entorlab. BUT if you are going to try this, you have to go ALL THE WAY. No exceptions, no cheating,...
  16. If a child has been mostly gluten-free for almost 2 years (would be 100% , but been a couple hickups ) would the $99 dollar stool test still work?
  17. Note on the "little grumpy" comment.... SOME kids wake up screaming scared, many just plain upset. Do not worry if she does, its NORMAL. She will not likely not even remember it later. Its a well known, but often forgotten to be mentioned side effect with small children and anthestia of any kind. Some kids do not have a problem like this, I do not...
  18. When I had mine done (twice) I was completely out for it. I would do it that way again. I would not want that memory if nothing else. Just make sure you have some one you completely trust along to ask questions and take notes.
  19. Vomiting might be a good thing in this case, it might get rid of most of the gluten. Not fun, but could reduce long term effects I would think. Plus it will DEFINITELY encourage her to stay gluten-free
  20. EXACTLY! There is a lot you have to give up for this diet, but not pasta! Tinkyada not only tastes perfect, but it also holds up BETTER in cooking then so called real paste. Take it from an Itialian, PASTA STAYS ON THE MENU (unless your avoiding carbs.... )
  21. Treat the symptoms is all you can do. My son is the same age as yours, and I would rip his teacher a new one for that. A mistake I could understand, WE ALL make them. But the opportunity for trading pizza unknown to the teacher should be eliminated. My sons preschool teachers have taken to sitting next to my son while everyone eats just so they can make...
  22. Why is the name of it so important? Tell everyone you have the extremely rare Pedro Disorder if you want. With my son, I tell people he has "Lots of food allergies" and leave it at that unless they push. 99% of the time that is enough for to accept any food decisions/questions I might have with out any problems. We always bring his food when we eat...
  23. I know how the heart works, and what a LBBB is. I do not recall you asking anything about that. I thought you were asking if Gluten COULD cause a LBBB, and IF IT DID would "get better" going gluten-free. And I think we all said its possible. I am sorry if I misunderstood your question. SIDE NOTE: For others reading the thread, here is a nice easy to read...
  24. What are your symptoms then that you are calling post exertional fatigue? And I am sorry if you said this already, but how long have you been 100% TRULY gluten-free? Did you check all you soaps, detergents, lotions, perfume, makeup, shampoo, conditioner, etc? How good are you about watching for CC risks? I personally think that celiac disease can "fake...
