  1. Both my hubs & I have dh & the slightest amt. of gluten can set off an outbreak so we need to be extra careful. We would like to have some beer but worry about getting cc'd. What gluten-free beers have you guys tried & been okay with? I figure you will have the skinny on this question b/c if anyone is going to react, you guys will.
  2. I like Chopin Potato Vodka in Kern's Apricot Nectar. Ohhhhhhh yummy, yummy in my tummy! You can add sparkling water if you like for some fizz.
  3. You betcha I get enough water! I did read that about dehydration but nixed it immediately as a cause. I drink enough water to drown a horse. An I visit the ladies room 40 times a day b/c of the water intake. Okay, here are the #'s & ranges Alkaline phosphatase 157 range is 39 -117 Albumin 5.6 range is 3.5 - 5.2 Good to know about the CBC...
  4. I just got some labs back & am waiting for the doc to get them & get around to calling me about them. I probably won't hear from him until Tuesday. But in the meantime I was wondering if anyone else has had these come back slightly high? I read up on them & it seems they can be a sign of liver or kidney problems but also a sign of intestinal inflammation...
  5. I was short on time earlier but here are some more links for you. You should read them all - all the way through. https://www.celiac.com/forums/topic/98712-dermatitis-herpetiformis-and-other-rashes/ https://www.celiac.com/forums/topic/95643-interesting-reading-on-dh/ https://www.celiac.com/forums/topic/91453-having-skin-biopsy-monday/ https:...
  6. I seriously doubt your PCP would take a biopsy. Here are some links: Open Original Shared Link Open Original Shared Link Open Original Shared Link Open Original Shared Link
  7. Thanks GFin DC. Yes, GFreeMO is having a rough time of it --- a really rough time.
  8. Oh you're most welcome Marcus! Yes, you're right. And you had been gluten-free for 2 years so that didn't help your blood panel. IMHO you would need a super long gluten challenge to overcome the 2 years PLUS the (if you have dh) dh factor making it negative. And still you could turn up neg. on the blood. The problem is, if you have dh then you're probably...
  9. The biopsy really can only be taken during the rash b/c the biopsy HAS to be taken from CLEAR skin ADJACENT TO an active lesion. Read some of the posts on here in the dh forum. It will give you links to the proper way to take a dh biopsy AND PERHAPS MORE IMPORTANTLY how many derms screw it up even though they act like they know what they're doing! YOU need...
  10. That's not how mine behaved. I also wouldn't say dh is full on all the time ---- not in the very beginning anyway.
  11. I can see why it would stone you. Ugggggggg.
  12. Let me make myself clear..... the Claritin only helps some with the itching but NOT with dampening down the rash itself. But I do notice some help with the intensity of the itching.
  13. I get dark spots on the skin where the dh has been but thus far they have all faded in time to be back to normal looking skin. It takes 6 months or more though depending on the severity of the lesions or rash in any given area. I wonder if your calling dimpling what I call bumps. I have "uneven" skin --- that's the only way I know to term it. It's like...
  14. I don't know mamat --- she said she was gluten-free for 4 months --- that alone is enough to make the biopsy negative so we don't know about the effect Dapsone may or may not have on dh biopsies.
  15. Thanks for that hopeful news Prickly!
  16. Raisins are dried grapes. I remember reading on thyca when I first learned about the iodine connection that raisins were on the iodine no-no list. That would also put grapes on the no-no list. Guess what? Vino --- made from grapes. The thing is that thyca changed their list & lots of thing I remember being on the no-no list are no longer specified on...
  17. They don't say. And the study was on;y done on 11 people. I kind of don't like studies involving so few people.
  18. No, they were not tested for celiac disease. An excerpt: Before starting therapy with dapsone, patients underwent the following laboratory assessment: full blood cell count (including differential white blood cell count, platelet and reticulocyte count), liver and renal function tests, urinalysis and glucose 6-phosphate dehydrogenase levels. Full blood...
  19. OH! I didn't know Medscape was free. Thanks!
  20. Can't access it prickly. It says we have to have a password ---- yours. Can you copy & paste it for us please?
  21. Looks wonderful! But I am dairy free b/c of iodine & it's effect on dh. Coconut happens to be one of the iodine rich foods so no coconut for me. No coconut milk, no nothing. One of these days I'll be on the other side & won't have to screen everything for iodine content.
  22. Stupid tired ---- I've been there. Hate the stupid tireds.
  23. You must be shaken to the core. You missed my winking smilie. I'm not really mad at you dear ---- I was pulling your leg. I have come to terms with the fact that I can not have dairy for some time yet but when the day comes that I can.......LOOKOUT!!!!!!!! Dairy overload. I think I'll be smushing pieces of cheese up my nostrils! The Boston thing...
  24. Yes, I let Irish know why I was MIA. We still have a lot of settling in & organizing to do but are trying to balance that with just de-stressing & enjoying the property we bought. We sit on one of the porches & just listen to the birds sing & watch the wildlife. Now I've added a little experimentation time for gluten-free baking. Thanks...
  25. Hey there Ski lady! Nice to know someone noticed I was MIA. We bought a house & have been moving, settling in & getting organized --- or trying to. So now I have an oven that doesn't burn everything & am finally able to begin experimenting. Warm water in a bowl --- good idea. Takala --- wonderful instructions there -- thank you!...
