  1. People do it for the thyroid cancer treatment for a 2 week period. I wouldn't do it for certainly no more than 3 weeks max. & during the 3rd week I would be adding a little in. 4th week I would certainly make sure I was getting the min. recommended amt. per day which is 150 mcg. You can go above that. Google thyca.org & look at their cookbook ---...
  2. You can have the potatoes as much as you want. Just make sure you peel them deeply (iodine in the skin) & they must be let's say Idaho potatoes (brown skin/white insides) for the sake of argument. Just not red potatoes or any other kind right? You left off a lot of things you CAN eat now but if you are happy with this menu then that's cool. You...
  3. I am getting the records from doc 1. Just to put him to the trouble of doing it. Let's just say that "I have taken care of the problem". But the fact remains that it happened in the first place & there are lots of patients out there getting caught in this crossfire & I'm sure many of them don't know how to fix it.
  4. This might be more appropriately termed Stupid stuff doctors do & stupider stuff pharmacies do. This is a long, complicated story which I'm going to try & make as short & sweet as possible. The players: doc 1, doc2, NP (nurse practioner) Mu hubs is hypothyroid & takes levothyroxine. We moved & had to find a new doc. We took...
  5. Celiacs can have or develop reactions/sensitivities/allergies to anything at any time. It's more than possible it was the sorghum & quite likely. So now you know to avoid it. I recently discovered the same thing with Quinoa for myself. I felt like I had been glutened & my dh rash flared. I know there was no cc. I quit the Quinoa & cleared right...
  6. Missed this thread until now. So sorry you're feeling ????? something. Glad it appears to be somewhat better & hope that will continue to be the trend. Echo: F*&^ing celiac ---- have to put a timer on time lapsed between brushing teeth & necking. Sheesh! Will we have to worry if they burp while kissing us? Gluten gas transference...
  7. You're right IH she did ask about Feta cheese & we dropped the ball on answering her on that one. Good catch IH. You don't need to leave us. See --- you just caught something! Fashionista --- no feta cheese --- sorry --- only the stinky, very hard cheeses. There will come a day when you can have lots & lots of things. But for now, you need...
  8. Back to the subject of blepharitis --- you may also get itsy bitsy teeny tiny water blisters on the rim of the upper or lower lids. They are darn near impossible to see but feel like a splinter every time you blink. Break them if you can find them & you won't feel like you have splinters but make sure to be extremely hygienic about it & wash your...
  9. I do not do stevia & therefore know nothing about it but those of you who do know about it --- would it work as a sweet replacement for the sugar for Fashionista? IH, I believe Fashionista said she has dumped the yogurt. Oh & Fashionista --- if I recall correctly, the pecans are higher in iodine so you may wish to stick with the other nuts ...
  10. One last typing tonight --- the naked juice -- berries also high in iodine. OUCH! iodine & sals together = no good but you know that already now.
  11. Canola, sunflower & safflower oils are all negligible in sals. Buckwheat -- she can have buckwheat --- Pocono buckwheat my dear. Okay, sorry -- seems Flax seed oil has small amts. of sals. See it listed under Alternatives to fish oils: Open Original Shared Link Nutella ingredients: Sugar, Palm oil (high sal), Hazelnuts (OK), Cocoa (OK), reduced...
  12. Well hell honey, you're fatter than me! I'm 5'2" & 98 lbs. See, you DO have something to be happy about. Now, my hands are getting sore as all get out. Neuro stuff. Can't type any more tonight or I won't be able to hold a fork tomorrow or an apple! I'll click around a little while & see if I can find the flax seed oli info. But I gotta get off...
  13. Cod liver oil --- high iodine my dear Flax seed oil --- high sals Safflower oil = low iodine & low sals Don't even research Olive oil --- I already did -- high sals Coconut oil - high sals Use Vanicream for your dry skin for now. And eat safflower oil. Your skin will eventually get better. One thing at a time, one thing at a time. Baby steps...
  14. Tom, that sounds like either A) gluten withdrawal kicking in What I refer to as non digestion --- where you actually don't have enough stomach acid. Probiotics will help that.
  15. I think we've all MOL been there, done that. I hear your frustration. I feel you fright & confusion & even panic. Been there, done that. I soooo sympathize. And I wish you weren't going through all this. Great big (((HUGS)))!!!!! One question before I forget --- can you stand "stinky cheeses"? You know, like Stilton & the like? I can't hack...
  16. Good. I meant to say also that I called Solgar about those vitamins before I took them just to make sure they had no iodine & they don't. It may very well be that after a couple months of low sals that you can begin adding back in things one at a time & see how you react. Some people find they can do certain sals but not others. Also, you don't...
  17. OMG! NO, I didn't know you were a dancer. 2 guesses my dear. I taught ballet.
  18. I like to think of the initials IBS as indicating the doctors ---- Imbecilic B&$$ S%$&ters.
  19. Sisters, sisters There were never such devoted sisters Rosemary Clooney & I forget who name the movie
  20. Many find it makes a big difference to switch up the days meals. Such as, the first meal of the day would be more like dinner USED to be & then you have "breakfast" for the last meal of the day.
  21. I used to wear contact lenses & had since I was 14. ?8? yrs. ago I had to give them up. A lot of white mucous stuff in my eyes, dry eyes, itchy eyes. Even after giving them up I had problems. Dx? Blepharitis. Haven't had any since going gluten-free. Eye Dr. told me to use Johnson's baby shampoo & a soft cloth & scrub the lower & upper lids...
  22. I hate to say this & it's going to throw you for a curve but right now, going low sal, you need not to take the "natural or herbal" vitamins b/c of the sals. I don't know about "super duper" but it has worked very well for me & that's Solgar brand 'Vitamins Only". Free of sugar, salt, starch, yeast, wheat, soy, gluten & dairy. No artificial flavors...
  23. I couldn't get it to work either until Jestgar posted the link.
