  1. I don't like the surgery idea at all.... But it's up to you. I'm looking into trying the "mediterranian diet" since I decided to become a vegetarian. It has lots of nuts, beans, fruits and veggies with some fish and poultry. Maybe if you went a route that just radically changed your diet, removed all processed foods and ate natural foods, you'd find yourself...
  2. Can you imagine??? That would be so cool if you've figured this out. What are we paying doctors for anyway???? Someone should start a website called "medicalmysteries.com" and have chat rooms devoted to symptoms and let the little, unpaid, non-hmo, uneducated folks like us sort out the maladies. Hey... nobody steal my idea.....
  3. Open Original Shared Link Uh-oh... You may have to look around a bit.
  4. A friend of mine encouraged me to get Kale today... I had to ask for help identifying it at the store ! So, I got it to shake up my dark, green calcium sources and .. it's pretty good! It's better than cooked spinach becasue it's not slimey. Here's how I prepared it... Kale olive oil garlic salt Pacific brand mushroom broth Cook...

  11. You do KNOW that Celiac disease can't be cured, right? I've also never heard of a true remission. Good luck with what you're doing. Go get a biopsy in a year and let us know the results. Also, if you're truely cured, call that Dr. Fasano and let him take a look at you so the rest of us can get cured and have a Dominoes Pizza party!
  12. Open Original Shared Link Here are a bunch of corn free products from Allergy grocery. If you look through the products, you'll see that at least some of them are probably stuff that your local health food store carries. You don't have to buy them on line, but you'll have a head's up on what's corn free without having to read labels. The Agave nector...
  13. Is he refusing to go gluten free if the tests don't indicate a need? I'm neg for everything, but my body doesn't like gluten. Would your son consider doing the diet for a few months to make HIS own decison? That may make him feel as though he has the control.
  14. You may be surprised, as I was, that protein is not that difficult to come by in a veggie diet. Too much protein causes your body to NOT absorb calcium!!! That's why getting your calcium from dairy means you need to INCREASE your daily quota of Calcium!! If you get your calcium from a nondairy source such as green leafy veggies, you need a lower daily...
  15. Well, I'm going for it. I told my kids and husband. They're ok with it. We're having split pea with OUT ham tonight.
  16. Hey, that's what we do! Plus, here's a tasty alternative... we used peppermint patties on them rather than chocolate! It was a hit. Rachel... Thanks for the compliment. That was TOO nice, really.... but I'll take it!
  17. Seriously, the mac and cheese at the commissary is only $1.75. Now you can do the math at how badly WholeFoods is ripping you off.
  18. In light of recent arguments, let's each think of some advice or info you've received from a poster on this board that helped you deal with Celiac disease. It's not necessary to remember the poster's name if you can't. Just let others know the advice or info and make sure it came from someone here. For me... I learned that Post Cocoa and Fruity Pebbles...
  19. Hey, thanks! We have tons of garbonzo beans here because my kids love them. I'll make it tomorrow. Lollie, I love anything with basil!
  20. I thought my son had asperger's but he has Celiac. When the peptides get into your brain via a leaky gut, you get a doped reaction. Gluten free, my son is completely normal. On gluten, he's extremely dull, doesn't really talk, can't focus, has no energy, looks drugged. That's the PEPTIDES.
  21. Well, good luck with whatever happens next.
  22. Ok. Your response was way more thoughtful than my question! But you hit on some of what I'm thinking about. I just looked up a good web site Open Original Shared Link and it has tons of great, and practical info on eating a healthy vegetarian diet. While I was making salad for dinner tonight (which I do often as we are dairy free and need our calcium...
  23. WHY I'm suddenly considering this... Is it primarily Health reasons? OR am I getting grossed out by eating animals? Both are true for me in smallish degrees. I just have been feeling this pull to go vegetarian. Sometimes when I eat meat these days, I get so grossed out and I don't know why. I chalk it up to the feed they give these animals and the injections...
  24. I shop with K all the time. This may be nothing, or it may be something... When I went to place my order for $119. last night, (that included the $10 shipping charge) I was just about to hit the button to charge my credit card when I realized the total charged to my card was going to be $124. So I didn't hit charge my card. I emailed K and asked why...
