For cold sores try taking lysine. It's a suppliment. It really helps. It's not a chemical pharmeceutical.

Kraft will list words that you should know are gluten containing... such as wheat, rye, barley, malt... NOT just the word GLUTEN. So, for instance, if a product contains "modified food starch"....... WHAT IS THAT????? WHAT is the SOURCE of the starch????? Kraft is kind enough to put in parenthesis (wheat) or (corn) or (potato)..... so that you know...

ARCHIVED I Really Need Some Help I Am Scared
Jnkmnky replied to mommy2ky's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Going gluten free is not a medical situation. You can chose to live Gluten free for a variety of reasons just like you can choose to be vegan, vegetarian, low carb, low sodium... There are great gluten free foods out there. No starving, pregnant or not. You said you chose to eat gluten containing foods because you were hungry.... Being gluten free doesn... -
ARCHIVED Non-soy Non-dairy Milks? Whats Safe?
Jnkmnky replied to VydorScope's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
OH GEEZ.... it's a bible quote? right? This is scary.... cuz I've had my morning coffee and I'm still confused! Your son is so cute! -
There are tons of web sites devoted to the milk issue. You can google them all day long. I think the truth is that Americans have been so brain washed into this idea that you NEED milk or your children will have broken bones that they can't imagine a daily life without the stuff. Open Original Shared Link I told a friend I was eliminating dairy...

I've read that most people in the world are lactose intolerant. That Americans are the rare ones who actually consume dairy throughout their lifetime. Most countries do NOT have Dairy farming or use dairy. Americans have the highest percentage of bone breaks, hip fractures and osteoporosis in the world and are the largest consumers of dairy products in...

Jnkmnky replied to VydorScope's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
OMG!!!!!! Vincent, your son is TOOOO cute! I have a Green Life Juicer... A family member bought it for me about 5 years ago. It costs around $400. With it, I take cut frozen bananas and push them through the "juicer" with the "ice cream attachment in place. Then I add whatever other frozen fruit I want, like strawberries or frozen berries or... -
ARCHIVED Non-soy Non-dairy Milks? Whats Safe?
Jnkmnky replied to VydorScope's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Well, actually... water in recipes works just as well as dairy. How necessary is dairy, soy, rice, almond milks anyway? I think we could actually live without it all together if we think about it. -
ARCHIVED Is It Too Late For My Son To Grow?
Jnkmnky replied to mart's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
My son was dx at three. He's turning 8 in June. He's small. I held him back a year due to developmental delays caused by the Celiac being UNdxed. He's still only taller than ONE other kid in his class!!! Shocked face aside, he's happy, loving school, loving friends, playing like a maniac, laughing throughout every day and a joy to be around. Don't... -
ARCHIVED Non-soy Non-dairy Milks? Whats Safe?
Jnkmnky replied to VydorScope's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
YOU'RE right! It does! I had gone to get my 20 cartons of 365 Organic one day last week, (they last us for months- like 5 months! because we don't use it all that much, but going to go get it is a hassle)... anyway, one of the young workers explained to me that the 365 would be back on the shelves in about a month, so I grabbed two chocolate Almonds, one... -
ARCHIVED Non-soy Non-dairy Milks? Whats Safe?
Jnkmnky replied to VydorScope's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
WholeFoods 365 Organic brand (vanilla flavor) is my kid's favorite. It's also really inexpensive.. I pay $1.29 a carton! Cheap! I use the plain flavor for cooking as the vanilla comes across in other meals. We also use the Almond milks when I'm out of the 365 brand. My WholeFoods informed me that they're currently repackaging the 365 brand and the... -
I've read that the breed, Irish Setter, has Celiac the worst of any breed of dog. That Celiac is practically wiping out that breed.

We make Manwich Sloppy Joes with the chopped meat. I put that on top of the pizza crusts. My kids call them "sloppy pizzas". It's messy, but very tasty. Another one: Soak overnight in scrambled eggs with Cinnamon, sugar and vanilla. Will be squishy in the morning. Fry on a pan with Pam or butter. Cut into triangles and serve with syrup or powdered...

Jnkmnky replied to Ruth's topic in Gluten-Free Recipes & Cooking Tips
You can also dip k-toos into melted mint flavored chocolate! -
Hey, didn't they just release a report that said the calcium in pills isn't absorbed? I think they did. seriously, the almond milk is good in coffee. I like the hazelnut flavor the best. The chocolate is good too.

In my opinion, soy is NOT good for you. There's a thread here started by mssillyacscrewed where it's being discussed right now, actually. We've been dairy (mostly) free for a year almost. It's been fine finding substitutes. We really like the 365 Organic rice milks from Wholefoods. Currently, they're repackaging the products, so they're mostly...

ARCHIVED Asthma
Jnkmnky replied to slpinsd's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
I've had a roller coaster of dxes this past two months. The so called asthma I was dxed with turned out NOT to be asthma! I was taking advair twice a day, got acute bronchitis, pink eye in both eyes, a thrush infection in my throat and felt terrible. I refused to take the advair, and demanded to see a specialist. Got one, and he said I don't have asthma... -
Some things were not meant to be eaten. Just because they found a way to mass produce a product, stirred it up into an "edible" paste, and stamped a positive lable on it (It's HEALTHY for you!)... doesn't make it true. It's nothing more than a cheap agricultural product that a sleazy company or two found a way to market to vulnerable consumers. Look at...

Jnkmnky replied to bluejeangirl's topic in Gluten-Free Restaurants
But don't eat the eggs at Burger King... they use those cartons of prescrambled "stuff" called eggs. Mc Donalds uses real eggs. -

ARCHIVED Looking For Kindergarten Friend
Jnkmnky replied to Fiddle-Faddle's topic in Introduce Yourself / Share Stuff
try people finders.com I did it for you and tried to post a link to the 77 tracy stewarts that came up... but the link was empty when I checked it. I didn't put in a state. I just did the name, and it worked. -
Open Original Shared Link I've been on a mission to inform others about soy for a year now. Thanks for bringing it up again. People wonder why our country has had such an increase in thyroid trouble over the last decade... they can attribute it to the use of SOY in our diets. I'd rather rid my pantry of gluten any day than try to eradicate SOY from...
