Are there any Chebe recipes for cookies, or cupcakes? Does chebe make a good dessert if you modify it a bit? Has anyone added cocoa powder, chocolate chips, vanilla, that sort of thing to the chebe and have it turn out good? What about peanut butter, chocolate chip cookies or cupcakes... would adding baking powder make them cupcakey?

ARCHIVED New Cocoa Puffs
Jnkmnky replied to VydorScope's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
I love this website when I learn stuff like this..... Vincent, my 7 year old thanks you! -
Open Original Shared Link There were some funny new slogans and some cute new kid stuff here at Cafe Press. My son has an entire wardrobe of their clothes. The 3/4 sleeve shirts with the jersey like look hold up great. He also has a hooded sweatshirt with the silly yak... it's been through two full seasons of washing and wearing constantly and still...

She could have "them" in moderation... ? Do you mean gluten - in moderation? Just curious. -
ARCHIVED Gluten Free Is Not That Hard!
Jnkmnky replied to chrissy's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
It wasn't so easy five years ago when I started my son on the diet. Today it's super easy. I have my entire family on the diet and it's nothing (except pricey). When we found EnerG's Crackers, our life was complete. They're the best "saltine" substitute out there. All of my food groups are covered and I don't feel I'm making any sacrifices at all... -
ARCHIVED Mashed Potatoes
Jnkmnky replied to NOBREAD4ME's topic in Gluten-Free Recipes & Cooking Tips
Rice milk for mashed potatoes is good. I also add flavored oils instead of butter. My whole foods had all sorts of cool oils, like avocado oils... some with hints of lemon or basil.. makes interesting mashed potatoes. I also add finely minced garlic, garlic salt or gluten free Pacific brand chicken or vegetable broth. -
ARCHIVED Mcdonalds Question
Jnkmnky replied to DragonQueen's topic in Introduce Yourself / Share Stuff
Ok. I consider myself a pretty militant anti gluten mom for my 7 year old son. I got him fries the other day and he was fine. The testing proved that the fries are safe for celiacs. I am the type who won't even let my son have food that says "processed in same facility as wheat", but I think the fries are fine. Seeing as he's had no reaction, I'd say... -
ARCHIVED Easter Candy
Jnkmnky replied to Moongirl's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
I stuffed 75 plastic eggs one easter with various candies... Well, at the last minute I decided a good mother would double check ingredients. So I did. And the egg shaped recess peanut butter cups had WHEAT!!!! So, always check your candies particularly if the shape is changed for a holiday theme. Nobody wants to check and unstuff 75 plastic eggs at... -
ARCHIVED Need Your Advice
Jnkmnky replied to MattUK's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
I came up negative but had serious health issues resolved by going gluten free. You don't need a test or permission to go gluten free. You could begin the diet now that you've had the blood work done. Since you've had symptoms for such a long time, you may not feel great right away. You should be prepared to give the diet at least 6 months to do you some... -
ARCHIVED Babies With Celiac: At Risk For Autism?
Jnkmnky replied to Fiddle-Faddle's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
My son looked like a mild form of autism prior to the gluten free diet. He is NOT autistic in any way, shape or form. But to think that GLUTEN in his diet camethisclose to having him dxed as autistic... I can't believe the lack of knowledge about how food can impact a person. I was raised on twinkies and coke, cheetos and kool aid, chef boy ardee and capn... -

I don't like Starbuck's coffee at all. Anyone else? The taste is so sour. I do like the frappacinos (sp) though. -

Mc Donald's new coffee is really good. I've been going through the drive through early in the morning lately. -
ARCHIVED My Son Is On An Emotional Rollercoaster
Jnkmnky replied to Sagesmama's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
I have three kids eating gluten free. We shop at www.kinnikinnick.com They have great donuts, chocolate chip muffins, bagels, pizza crusts, "oreos" *K-Toos*, white sandwich bread, Hamburger buns (cut into three slices and use two for a burger... they're very thick.) Montana chocolate chip cookies, and the tray buns are all fantastic. -
I'm trying to do it, but I can't figure it out. Nevermind.

I don't know how to make the pictures I took smaller to fit as my avatar. Anyone know how to do it?

ARCHIVED Holy Day Of Obligation - Ash Wednesday
Jnkmnky replied to penguin's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
These aren't gluten free. They're low gluten. Great link though. Thanks. I printed it out for my priest if this is the route we go. Has anyone found a study that confirms no villi damage as a result of consuming these hosts? I'd love to see a study where a low gluten host consumer was biopsied and showed no villi damage. Thanks. -
ARCHIVED Holy Day Of Obligation - Ash Wednesday
Jnkmnky replied to penguin's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Ash wednesday is not a holy day of obligation. Fasting is not a commandment, just tradition. I am really having problems with the Catholic church lately. I can't stand all the hoops they put up for us to jump through. If you want to follow all of the rules, then do your best. If not, don't imagine God's up there checking off all the "disappointing" things... -
ARCHIVED Crackers Anyone?
Jnkmnky replied to Eva12's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
Ener G makes an excellent cracker called Crackers. Just like a saltine. -
Rachel, thanks for sharing that. That makes me feel so much better. Now when I'm upset and crying and asking for help, I'll just recall that your answer took a couple of days! I'm going to try to keep imagining that God's help is on the way for me. It's on the way. I'll have an anwer in my hands in a little more time. I really needed to hear that story...

Thankyou. No, I don't have family. Not from my side or my husband's side. I have a sister who's a high powered type of woman with no kids who lives in NY. I have friends and they're really great. But we all have kids and no one can stop and take on my needs. Everyone's offering, but I feel so depressed and my house is a mess.... One friend took me...

Rachel, thanks again. Now stop reading horror stories on line! I'm already praying for you. You'll be fine. I have a dr appt on tues. Everyone, please keep me in your prayers for that appointment. I'm trying to be positive. I'm probably going to be deserving the "most needy poster at celiac.com" award, but please keep praying for me. I'm very upset...

I can't thank you enough. But if you ever need prayers, Rachel, just ask me. I'm learning some really good ones this week! Btw... I went to Catholic Mass today and the homily was all about Jesus healing people!!! I was blown away. The priest was saying he had worked in all sorts of health care places and seen people healed by miracles. He said...

Thankyou so much. I believe in miracles. I know I can be healed through prayer. (guys, I'm really working hard to say that with an ounce of faith. I'm having a hard time because this pain is all the time and it's preventing me from sleep. Please keep up the prayers. I've had some amazing things happen in my life due to prayer... for instance, my...

I'm asking everyone I can to pray for me. I've been dx with asthma and GERD. I don't want this. I believe in prayer. I believe your prayers in addition to my own can heal me and change my dx. You don't have to do the St. Jude Novena below, just any prayer you want. Please help me. I don't feel good at all. Thankyou very, very much. I'm just some...

Everybody, thank you for the kind words and support. I'm very fearful about how sick I feel. I'm not a strong person when dealing with illness. I'm the first to admit it. I can't tolerate being sick. It makes me cry like a baby. My husband is in the middle east for two years (been gone for some months now) and I get scared thinking that I'm all my kids...
