  1. ooohh... Feel better!
  2. Kinnikinnick chocolate cake mix is really good. Not dry or crumbly. MOIST. And dark chocolate fudge frosting by Pilsbury helps too. That would make me feel better...
  3. Sorry he's so sick. I'll say a prayer that it passes quickly.
  4. Gross. I'm so glad I have a farmer's market to go to every week. I'm so sick of all the additives in my food.
  5. We use real maple syrup but I make it last longer by adding jams and jellies to it. Smuckers jams are great in the syrup. I stir in a lump of jam, heat it for about 15 seconds in the microwave and stir and heat it again for a few seconds. Kids love it. Also, one of my kids won't eat syrup since I put cinnamon sugar on waffles one day. Now it's cheap...
  6. You know what... The diet is going to be the best indicator of celiac disease in a baby. That's all you can really do with a little one. BUT, it's not a fuzzy kind of .."is she better?". You'll know pretty quickly as long as you keep her 100% gluten free. You'll see a remarkable difference that will take the place of any medical test. The trick is the...
  7. This may not be easy to begin while living in Japan with ingredient labels and all ... But it's critical to begin the diet ASAP. You will probably know rather quickly if the diet is effective in STOPPING those horrible symptoms. Think about yourself having diarhea for a week... I feel really bad for your son being sick that long and you not being able...
  8. Said a prayer for you.
  9. Someone who claims to have cured autism shouldn't be ranting forever and then not spelling out the exact things needing to be done to eradicate autism. I'm mostly annoyed that I read the entire thing. I really hate looking at the world through paranoid eyes. Reading stuff like that makes you afraid to trust anyone. I don't think it's anymore healthy MENTALLY...
  10. SUBWAY SANDWICH BREAD..... No, seriously, it makes me cry.... I'm a native New Yorker ... I've given up on bagels and pizza.. for the love of potato flour, can they come up with some french bread rolls that I can make a decent sandwich on?!!
  11. Hello. Three young kids here, so I know how important it is to have a good cake for birthdays. I would only use a cake mix by Kinnikinnick. They are the absolute best. Moist and exactly... and I mean EXACTLY like gluten filled cake. Order a bag from Kinnikinnick.com and make a cake yourself to test it out. You could also have a cake prepared for you...
  12. Well, what's the remedy? She says she has the homeopathic cure for autism and all other vid induced diseases. What is the remedy?

ARCHIVED Doctor In Long Island, Ny [?]

I don't know anyone to recommend, but welcome to the boards! I'm from L.I. originally... In southern Ca. now... How's the weather?
  14. There's modified food starch and I can't find it online. Has anyone used it? Actually, reading the ingredients is kinda scary.... full of junk. Well, if you know, please let me know. In the meantime, I'm going to see if I can figure out how to make lemon gloop the old fashioned way. I have a lemon tree with about 50 lemons on it right now, so that may...
  15. Been there. And you know something, I think you're lucky to have that day care person with celiac disease... None of my son's teachers have even heard of celiac disease until he came along. AND the fact that he wouldn't drop dead right in front of them like the peanut allergic kids kind of makes them question how truely terrible celiac disease actually...
  16. Ok... you're just nuts!
  17. Hey! You're not stricter than me!! lol I packed his drinks, too.... And you might as well *all parents* get used to doing this too. It goes on in every grade. Kindergarten, 1st grade, and so on. Class parties, Friday "treat days", birthdays, ... My son always has a stocked lunch box in his classrooms every year with treats, puddings for...
  18. What exactly are they in charge of food wise for your child at preschool? It should be pretty limited. My son did preschool. He's nearly 8 now. We never had a problem. I came down like a protective mama bear on his preschool. They had snacks every day, and I packed my son's food. They played with playdough, Home made version with flour, and he was...
  19. I was dx with asthma two months ago... which I now am told I don't have at all... Another story... Anyway, advair, which I took for about a week, nearly killed me! I ended up with pink eye in both eyes, acute bronchitis and an all over feeling of dying. Then, the same week, the fda put advair in a so-called "black box", meaning it's kinda dangerous. ...

    ARCHIVED Shakiness

Maybe that answers why I had the shakes a couple weeks ago. I then had horrible joint pain for nearly 7 days and brain fog that was debilitating. I didn't actually eat a large portion of gluten, must have been in a sauce on a meal I ordered at a restaurant. Adding shakes to my list of gluten symptoms...
  21. Does anyone recall her eating gluteny foods while on Survior?
  22. Check all holiday candies as change in shape!!!! can mean they added gluten!!!! Shocking, but true.
  23. She has to be consuming wheat in order for the blood test to have a chance of being accurate. Testing in young children is not reliable. The dietary challenge IS reliable. My tests came back neg for the gene and sensitivity. My dietary Challenge indicated that I CANNOT eat gluten. I am healthy when I don't eat gluten, I am miserable with brain fog...
  24. Right ON! Since when is PIZZA a reward anyway??? It's one of the foods (along with Oodles of Noodles) that I swore off when I graduated college! BLEEECH!
  25. Totally agree with you here. I was thinking how to reply to the original poster with this very sentiment. Alcoholics can't have drinks at parties, diabetics can't eat the junk food. There are so many injustices every day. We all suffer with them. Just be glad you can hang out in company you enjoy and have a great conversation about anything but...
