  1. Well, I'm commited to going coffee free. I did it once for like three years, so I know I can do it. I AM doing it right now... just that I really like the stuff. Well, it's no longer a choice when the consequence is inability to function, I guess. Being gluten free, mostly dairy free, coffee and soda free... well, it's all for the best. The burps have...
  2. A nice massage can really help.. Pay for one if you don't have someone to do it for free! Maybe it's your bed??? I got a sleep number bed and my life has changed! Hello, I'm a 30. It's like sleeping in a hammock at 30, but my back loves it.
  3. Thanks fiddle... the GI told me to get a few bottles of mylanta and prepare for the worst. Tums doesn't help me much at all. He said to expect it to be pretty bad for at least the couple first days... by the FIFTH day to expect it to be better IF it's going to get better!!! double yikes!
  4. My problem is that I've been on the prilosec for so long( 2 1/2 months ), that a rebound effect is very likely. I tried to go off it while my husband was home and WHOA! I couldn't take the pain. I took a pill by 1pm on the second day. Plus, I burped constantly. I opened my mouth to talk and burps came out. It wasn't a small deal. It was like constant...
  5. A dx isn't going to make your life better. There are things you will be UNable to do if you have a dx of Celiac disease. Stuff like Joining the military, becoming a priest, getting good health insurance. You can face obstacles with a dx of celiac disease. Best to keep it quiet, imo. There really is no benefit that I've encountered with this dx... sometimes...
  6. I'm being haunted by the dr right now to go get...an mri? I think he wants?? Or a cat scan? I forget. His office calls me three times a week to see if I've schedualed it. To rule out cancer. Fun. But I'm apparently in no hurry. Maybe it's pathological denial? Whatever. I've been busy with Easter and spring break with my kids. I'll make my drz...
  7. COLD TURKEY is the only way. Your body's immune system is working at full force for a crumb. I had separate everything for the first 4 years... it was fine. Now we're all gluten-free thanks to the book, "Dangerous Grains". Available at amazon. Our favorite foods are all from Kinnikinnick.com Ordering is simple and easy. Been using them for...
  8. Peeps are SO gross. Every year my kids want peeps. Every year I buy peeps. Every year NOBODY eats the peeps...cuz they're GROSS!
  9. I must be tired after stuffing 120 easter eggs... I laughed out loud at the "wax".... I'm still laughing.
  10. Yeah, I second Rachel. I never had my son go any further than a blood test. I simply don't agree that it's necessary. Drs LOVE to run these tests. Think about how unnecessary it is, though. Your child has a dx. What is really going on here? Celiac disease is FINALLY getting the acknowledgement it's desparately needed for decades, so here are all these...
  11. Just stare at the person for that one extra second that makes it uncomfortable. No snappy comeback beats an uncomfortable moment....
  12. I don't know what your insurance looks like, but for me, I'd rather try one of the procedures rather than live with the symptoms of reflux. For me, anyway, it's all I can focus on when it gets going. It rules my life. I haven't gone off the prilosec today because I didn't want to be in the throws of fiery agony for easter baskets and hunting.. That would...
  13. Well, that was a heck of a story! I'm glad you're feeling so much better. I believe gluten may have caused my last bout of arthritis pain and brain fog. You can't have rye, though, if you want to be gluten free. Not just cut back on it... you can't be having it at all. Do you have a good source of protein? Veggies and rice aren't going to give you...
  14. Open Original Shared Link I think this is the primo health food store on Long Island. I don't know if you have a WholeFoods, Henry's, Jimbos, Trader Joes..... Google them. My friend goes to Wild by Nature and says they have loads of gluten free foods.
  15. Joy reminds me of my horrible mil. BLECH! And I've only been able to watch that stupid show about a half dozen times. Nothing about it appeals to me. Eh, I'm not a tv person anyway.
  16. Some people who have been sick a long time find themselves feeling pretty crappy for awhile... how long were you sick? Some people feel great right away. There might also be some kind of withdrawal from the gluten particularly if you have a very leaky gut causing a lot of Peptides to get into your system. They have an opiate like effect and can be...
  17. Could reflux be causing some of the throat symptoms???? An ultra sound can be ordered by your primary care dr for your thyroid. You shouldn't have to wait to see a specialist to get that done. I just had it done... found two lumps... oh joy! Also, blood tests can be ordered by your pcd. That will tell you quickly if your thyroid is functioning properly...
  18. Yes, I believe food can come back up. That's not what's happening to me so much, though. You may want to talk to a dr about your experience. It could be the beginning of a weakening of your LES *lower esophogial Sphincter* (spelling questionable there)... I'm just thinking that if this is the beginning for you of developing GERD, you may want to take...
  19. Had a great GI appt today. Will try to go off of the Prilosec beginning tomorrow. The Dr said to be prepared for rebound effect! Have two bottles of Mylanta on hand, he said to use it as often as necessary and to give it a week to see if I improve. He also has at his disposal the new pill/camera technology in place of an endoscope as well as the nonsedative...
  20. I emailed Olive Garden a year ago and asked them to add Tinkyadas to their menu along with Chebe bread sticks for Celiacs... Their response was that they were not considering this at this time. Very eye rolling tone.
  21. Get out into the sun!
  22. I don't think it would go over too well... remember last month when some folks were talking about starting a "catholic community"? It was like a second crucifixion! Good thing the Amish started their communities a long time ago.. No one would "put up" with that nonsense today!
  23. Nini, I think Pepto has aspirin in it and isn't safe for young kids.... I might be wrong, but I remember it that way. Just to let you know.
  24. Great info about dairy is on the Gluten-free Casein-free website for autism. Their explanations are very thorough.
  25. Jolie is a narcisist at best. Harmless, unless you're a handsome man's wife, but only an interest because she does things others wouldn't for the attention it gets her.
