  1. nisla is correct, as always. kraft is good about labeling them, but make sure you know what to look for so that you read every single time, even if it is a previously safe product. if you have questions on specific ingredients, feel free to post and we can help you out. or, check out the list on celiac.com
  2. Dr. Green talks about migraines and Celiac/gluten in his book. page 84: "The well defined neurological associations with celiac disease include the following:" peripheral neuropathies, ataxia, epileptic seizures, migraines, brain atrophy and dementia. page 89: "A recent stuy on blood flow abnormalities in the brain showed a direct corrleation between...
  3. When I could eat all that yummy stuff (I now have other "issues"), I would just modify any 'normal' cheesecake recipes...I was more likely to do that than to follow a "special" gluten free recipe. Sometimes I would get it from Better Homes and Garden Cookbook, sometimes from the Kraft/Philly cream cheese webpage, etc. Instead of a graham cracker crumb...
  4. steveindenver, like others on here, this is a regular occurence for me. it used to upset me, now I don't care. I'm just happy that I know I can eat and still function in the afternoon by eating MY food--then I don't have to worry at ALL. I always bring something yummy-and lots of it! so I don't go hungry. And lots of snacks. Casseroles, homemade mac...
  5. If you have other specific questions, call the lab, tell them you have questions and would like to speak to the nurse. If she (I think her name is Phyllis) is available, she'll talk to you right then. If not, they'll take a message and she'll call you back to discuss your results and any questions you have. It was great---we spoke for about 15-20 minutes...

ARCHIVED Recommend A Doctor In You State

Dr. Patricia Raymond Hampton Roads/Norfolk/Virginia Beach have not seen her myself, but have heard wonderful things about her. She is the advisory doc to the CSA group.
  7. Patti-Almost all of the muir glen tomatoes have corn derivatives in them (i called and asked). So, it could be the corn, potentially.
  8. Susan, what team is yours? Then we'll talk....
  9. It is hard to say that categorically, "any" dressing is safe. It completely depends on the brand. However, many italian dressings are safe. Kraft brand dressings will always label any gluten containing ingredients. I know some of the wishbone italian dressings are safe, as well as the hellman's. Newman's Own is good about listing ingredients also. But...
  10. I make cornbread, slice it/cube it, dry it out, then saute onions and celery in a lot of butter, mix them all up, and bake. Delicious...I served it last year to my husband's whole family (and even made a separate "wheat" one)....and they liked this one better! It was almost gone by the end of the meal! good luck!
  11. dr green's book also mentions that maltodextrin is safe...and if it weren't, and was wheat related, bc of the 2006 labeling law, it would have to declare that it is wheat derived.
  12. (have to throw this in....LETS GO PENN STATE! and WAR EAGLE!)
  13. I got a few really special gifts... a blanket from Things Remembered that has a little patten in one corner, with our names and dates (there are various patterns/what you want it to say). We were given that by a groomsmen and his wife (my husband was in his wedding as well) and we treasure it. It is just such a sweet thought. We have started that as one...
  14. well, there is a casein allergy and a casein intolerance. (just like gluten) I think most people on here are intolerant, not allergic to casein. Try having her drink lactaid milk (milk without lactose, but has casein). Or, have her eat dairy products and take one or two lactaids. See what happens. My sister thought it was lactose for the longest,...
  15. Susan, so sorry about the painting! My heart dropped when I was reading your post. Let us know what happens. Bad, bad dingos.
  16. Can'teveneatrice- I would be highly suspect of all legumes, based on what you wrote. (I am a legume-intolerant person, among other things). Peas, peanuts, lentils, beans (including soy)....Its one of those slippery slopes---once you have one "issue," you seem to have more. A dear friend of mine has a son about your son's age....had horrible eczema. Convinced...
  17. 2kids--- yes, definitely think about casein! I thought mine was lactose...lo and behold, it was actually casein. Keep us updated---hopefully it is only lactose! You are great to be such a pro-active mom! Laura
