And the crowd goes wild..."New Pic, New Pic, New Pic" Don't leave us in suspense, Susan! Happy to hear it has worked out. My aunt lives in CO and is really into beading. She teaches every so often at conventions and such. She has her own line of beading note/greeting cards. Patti-so what are you thinking of doing to your hair! Cold is still in...

happygirl replied to rinne's topic in Introduce Yourself / Share Stuff
Can someone give me an overview of symptoms of Lyme? -
I'm right there with ya. But sometimes, you have to go through the "bad" feelings to get to a place of good feelings. (I say this as I am craving chocolate something awful, and am reacting to it.) Ugh. Good luck with the mayo, etc.

Shalia, Feel free to pout. And even as you go on, you'll probably still pout now and then. But, you know this because you are gluten free. Check out spectrum organics. I think they have a non soy based mayo. I think its canola based. Laura

ARCHIVED I'm Hungry All The Time....
happygirl replied to Lollie's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Can you do nuts/peanuts? I used to eat those a lot-they were very filling for me and really helped with the feeling full part. What about gluten free crackers or pretzels (dipped in a sour cream or cheese dip)? Those might keep you fuller, longer. -

ARCHIVED Traveling For The Holidays :(
happygirl replied to emcmaster's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
These are the things that we never thought we would have to think about when we were diagnosed with Celiac! What a strange world we live in. Couple thoughts run through my mind, although I'm sure you've already thought of them. Can you call the family and discuss your concerns? Talk openly with them, explain the situation, see the response. They... -
ARCHIVED Not Serious?
happygirl replied to Ophelia42's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Wow. I'm sorry you were given such medically incorrect advice. Celiac is Celiac---you don't outgrow it, nor can you re-introduce gluten. I highly recommend reading Dr. Peter Green (From Columbia University, and a leading Celiac physician and reserach) new book, Celiac Disease: A hidden epidemic. It is a fabulous book that really explains Celiac Disease... -
Susan- Oh my gosh. You poor thing. YOUR POOR HAIR. Waiting anxiously to hear about it. I had a hair disaster a few months before my wedding. Yes I said wedding. Talk about sheer panic, so I can completely sympathize. Can't wait to hear about it! So today was my last day of work at my "old" job. Cried. So sad to leave some of my friends! They have...

Except for BW3s (which I used to looooooove), every wing place we have checked out all fries their wings in fryers that fry other gluten containing ingredients (usually breaded appetizers). I don't know anything else about Domino's menu as I haven't eaten there in years, but just wanted to put that risk out there.

ARCHIVED Celiac And Dairy Products
happygirl replied to suzven's topic in Food Intolerance & Leaky Gut
Many people end up developing numerous food intolerances. Count me in the group. You also might want to try doing it first thing in the morning (so you haven't eaten anything else and you know its the milk/lactose/casein that is causing the reaction). It might be multiple foods, or may only be one. Good luck, and let us know what we can do. -
I believe the consensus on this board is that um, bodily fluids, are safe. However, make sure that he has brushed his teeth/rinsed, etc after eating gluten free food for kisses!

ARCHIVED Where To Go For Assistance?
happygirl replied to Julie M's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
Yes, you can be glutened through a toaster that has wheat crumbs all in it. Its referred to as "cross contamination" (i.e., safe ingredients, but prepared in a way that has touched gluten containing source." The same goes for butters, mayos, dips, etc (they need to be used exclusively for only gluten free food...so if there is double dipping, it is SAFE... -

try www.kirkmanlabs.com - they make vitamins that are gluten (and other allergen) free. I like them a lot. also, www.gfsoap.com makes gluten free shampoos, soaps, conditioners, lotion, etc. Is everything safe from cross contamination in the house (i.e., no double dipping in butters or mayos), no crumbs, not using the common toaster to toast 'her' food...
