  5. It doesn't have to be a lifetime diet if it doesn't work. Its often called a gluten free trial. Go gluten free for "x" amount of time. If it works, stick with it. If it doesn't, then go back to gluten.
  6. Yes, that can be true, but its usually more of a concern for younger children. You'll need to ask your doctor why they think it may be Celiac. Also ask them what other conditions they are considering beyond Celiac. Ask them how many biopsies they took during the scope....they need to have taken 4-6 for it to be accurate (so that they don't miss any...
  7. It means on this test, you daughter didn't test positive for elevated tTG antibodies. It could mean she doesn't have Celiac, or it could mean that the testing didn't pick up on the damage she does have (if she has Celiac). www.celiaccentral.org and www.celiacdiseasecenter.columbia.edu are good resources to check out. When do you get the results...
  8. Yes, and it always turns out great. Stuffing is an easy one, luckily. Hang in there---it will all work out.
  9. The IgA test (305) measures to see if your body makes enough IgA to do accurate testing. If it is low, other tests may be false negatives. According to this, your daughter is not IgA deficient. Total IgA testing alone is not a Celiac test, but is used to assess the accuracy of the other Celiac tests. If you don't make enough IgA, even if you have a raging...

  13. It means you definitely have Celiac and you are lucky to get diagnosed . Hard to say about the level of damage ... there is some literature that some of the antibodies may be predictive of what your villi in your intestines look like. Be thankful you didn't have to struggle for diagnosis and you can move on to eating healthy and taking care of you and your...

  19. My apologies for the confusion over "DD," but I am happy the mystery has been solved. It gave me a very good laugh this afternoon though! Bev, I'm thinking of you!!!
  20. Popping in to tell you all that I spent the day at one of the least likely places a Celiac would go to. An all day beer fest! I, of course, was not drinking, and was the coolest DD to my husband and friends. I refused to touch anything in the whole place!!!! But, a beautiful day and a lot of fun, even for the sober girl . Can't say sober...
