ARCHIVED Is It Stress Or Celiac Desease
nvsmom replied to mochabutterfly's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Sorry to hear your having a tough time. Hope you feel better soon. If you do want to get tested for celiac (since you have so many of the symptoms), do it soon and don't stop eating gluten beforehand or it will nagatively affect your blood tests. There are lists of the tests you can take floating around in Newbie 101 posts around the forum; they'll... -
Gluten Free Pantry has a nice brownie mix that could sub for a birthday cake with a nice frosting. It's cake like but nt really a birthday cake so it might work. I'll be using that for my son's 5th birthday next week; he's having a military birthday so I'm putting a small tank and military figures on top. I'll also be trying a couple of recipes from...

Someone pointed out this thread on microwaved bread on another spot in the forum. The recipes and reviews look good but I've yet to try it: -

ARCHIVED Protein Drink To Drink At Work
nvsmom replied to Googles's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
I like Advanced Whey. There's not a lot of ingredients. I usually add it to coffee... just be careful the coffee is not to hot or it curdles. lol -
ARCHIVED Does Bacon Have Gluten?
nvsmom replied to Myooshka's topic in Introduce Yourself / Share Stuff
Schneider's (spelling?) Naturals Bacon now has "Gluten Free" on the front top corner of their product as of... Sunday, July 8; I saw it, and bought it (in Calgary), this week. I'm happy about that since I like their product and love the fact that it is nitrate free! ... and no, I don't own an iphone. LOL -
I used a biocard test that a local health food store had ordered in for a special promotion (was it celiac awareness month in May?). They don't normally carry it. If she is not going to be here for a few weeks, she could order it ahead of time through some store or pharmacy. Good luck.

I thought i was gluten-free for the first 1.5 weeks but discovered I wasn't. My hummus has gluten and I forgot about checking one vitamin. I was having bad headaches too... thought it was withdrawl. I guess it was pms. I am almost 100% sure I am gluten-free now, and have been for about 4 days, and I feel just beat! My headache is back and huge and...

ARCHIVED gluten-free Beer
nvsmom replied to nvsmom's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Oooh Thanks for the information and the link (I don't know how I missed that one, and I went searching and only found old info ). Green's sounds like it would suit my taste. I don't drink beer often, but when I do I like a dark beer... a porter or stout. Ugh! My mouth is watering just thinking about it! I don't know wheteher to laugh or cry. LOL... -
ARCHIVED gluten-free Beer
nvsmom posted a topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
I'm going away to the beach on vacation and I'd like to bring some beer along...especially since my hubby has increased his beer consumption in the evenings by 400% since I was diagnosed celiac... I swear! Can anyone recommend a gluten-free beer that is pretty good? I've yet to try any (I'm very newly diagnosed) and I'd hate to buy (or order) a 6 pack... -
My late uncle had gout, and his daughter has celiac...

LOL Bikinis... lol I am a newbie and today I received my first comment from a stranger about passing up food... I guess that's a celiac milestone, eh? lol I was at a Calgary Stampede breakfast (during the 10 days of rodeo and exhibition, they have at least a dozen free pancake breakfasts all over the city everyday - they feed 1000's for free...

ARCHIVED New Beginning?
nvsmom replied to Lumi's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
If you want to have your blood tested for celiac, you should do so before you start eating gluten-free because the test results will become negative once you are gluten-free. The same goes for the endoscopic intestinal biopsy. If a diagnosis is not needed or wanted, then I wish you the best of luck with the new diet; I hope you see lots of improvement. ... -
ARCHIVED Before You Knew It Was Gluten...?
nvsmom replied to heathenly's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
1. Yes. I remember going to the doctor as a young child and being told "she's just one of those people who gets stomach aches after she eats". After a while I learned not to double over when the stomach aches hit and just get on with the day. ...And my mother told me I had issues with C even as an infant; this is back in the day when "solid" foods were introduced... -
ARCHIVED Paleo Diet Vs The Gluten Free Lifestyle
nvsmom replied to lewiss's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
As I understand it, the paleo diet does not allow beans...I can't remember why. -
ARCHIVED Bacterial Overgrowth - Anyone Familiar With This?
nvsmom replied to Sunny1008's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
My doctor tested me for this at the same time as celiac. Happily it was negative so I'm unable to help. I hope you are feeling better soon. -
I'm really new to this (2 weeks attempted gluten-free but I've been celiac my whole life) so although I'm not sure what normal feels like yet, I do know that my stomach gets upset at the start of my period. The day before I get quite bloated (the pg look) and on day 1 my stomach empties much more thouroughly than normal (I am usually C). I usually back pain...

Sorry to hear of your diagnosis but welcome to the board. I'm also new (2 weeks).... it's quite a learning curve isn't it? LOL Best wishes with your biopsy.

ARCHIVED Recovery Time
nvsmom replied to wayneglutzky's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
WayneGlutzky... I like that although I'm a Flames fan myself. I'm another newbie (almost 2 weeks in) who is still in recovery/withdrawl after 30 odd years of glutening. My body seems to be going about recovery in a different manner than you and Kayshae: In the past I put on weight easily and now I'm losing about 4 lbs a week... Strange how it's so different... -
ARCHIVED How Bad Is Cheating On The Gluten Free Diet Periodically
nvsmom replied to icm's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Thank you, Peter. I think I understand what you are saying. I keep thinking of the visuals people are providing: the crumb of toast or the 1/8tsp flour and how that could fit into my day (I am trying hard to avoid those things). I guess I'm wondering how many parts per million, compared to my 1500 to 2000 calorie day, that crumb or 1/8tsp of flour would... -
Ugh, I haven't gone bathroom in 3 days and I'm starting to get rather uncomfortable. LOL I wish it would get going again. I'm starting to get quite a distended belly, and it's gross to think about why. That's TMI isn't it? I just realized that I hadn't checked my fibre supplements to see if they are gluten-free, and one isn't. I haven't really...

ARCHIVED Low Blood Sugar
nvsmom replied to KMMO320's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
I have no idea if it's linked to celiac but I get that too. I get the shakes (can really see it in my hands)and a bit faint if I don't eat every couple of hours. I know I have very low blood pressure, so I always assumed it was something to do with that... -
ARCHIVED All The Symptoms But Negative Blood Work...
nvsmom replied to ~TheFanny~'s topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
As long as you don't need an "official" diagnosis, then I would just keep doing what you are doing. If you feel you would need results for something in the future, you might want to do it now; it sounds like going back on gluten after being off it makes reactions so much worse! Best wishes to you! -
ARCHIVED Now What's My Problem?
nvsmom replied to livelifelarge24's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
I am one who always has C. I have since I was an infant and I have no idea if it will on this diet (I was Dx'd very recently). Unless I take extra fibre, I only go every few days. I do find that stress or excitement definitely mucks me up. If we travel, I don't go for days and days, and then I very the bathroom a lot but not quite to your extreme. And...
