  1. No, they don't seem swollen. I tried your fingertip bending test, and I could do it, although it hurts. LOL At this point, I have no idea what my body is doing. LOL I had many symptoms improve after going gluten-free like gut bloating, migraines, stomach aches, and plantar fasciitis. I had some things that I thought got better, like hair loss, but...
  2. Many fruits bother me. Raw apples and pears give me a lot of trouble, I have to limit my tropical fruits like mango and pineapple. I seem okay with berries but too many strawberries bother me too.
  3. Have a cinnamon bun for me. Best wishes!
  4. I would assume that you have celiac disease with a positive test over four times the normal, and a history of other autoimmune disease. The DGP IgG is 99-100% specific to celiac disease so a positive test is almost surely caused by celiac disease. See this report, on page 12, for more info about the reliability of the tests. 5. I thought my joint pain was gone. I really did. For about 11 months my joint pain was pretty minimal. I had some really minor flare-ups in my shoulders and fingers, and my hip pain was not advancing much at all.... BUT I was on a full replacement dose of hydrocortisone, due to suspected "adrenal fatigue", for that time period so I now strongly suspect that...
  6. Show your doctor the rash. He'll be able to tell you more than us. Best wishes.
  7. I like to use a Glutino Double Fudge Brownie mix along with: 1/2 -2/3 c flax meal 1/2 -1 tsp baking powder 1/2 c Vega One chocolate protein powder (optional) just over 1/3 c melted butter or coconut oil 4-5 eggs 375F for 20-25 minutes for cupcakes. About 30 min-45 min for a cake. My boys also love angel food cake for birthdays.
  8. Was she breastfed? Gliadin is found in breast milk, and it is that gluten protein that celiacs react to. Scientists are not sure that it can set off a celiac reaction in infants, but if the child was born with active celiac disease, it makes sense to me. Open Original Shared Link Celiacs are often lactose intolerant because the intestinal villi which...
  9. Darn insurance. Just so you know, the doctors' favourite test to run is usually the tTG IgA.
  10. Do I need to worry about the Tim Horton frozen beverage machine that makes 99% gluten free drinks on it? Yes.If it is not being cleaned well between each drink you should probably skip it if it could be contaminated. When I get a latte at starbucks, I get them to use a fresh container for me so I can avoid issues like that. It's a hassle, but I'm not...
  11. If at all possible, it is best to have a few tests run because the sensitivity (how many cases out of 100 celiacs it would catch) is as low as 17% in the worst tests (AGA ones). If insurance will cover at least a few, I would push for it as much as you are able. This report shows the sensitivities of the various tests on page 12: Open Original Shared...
  12. LOL Well thought out. And I like the zombie approach. LOL
  13. It can take days to weeks to recover from one exposure to gluten if you have celiac disease. Symptoms do not always correspond to the damage that is being done to you body when a celiac eats gluten. If you eat the bagel, you might feel poorly and that could affect your energy for a few days to weeks. Or you might feel fine, and then after a few more days...
  14. This study, on page 8, points out that a biopsy is warranted if celiac disease is highly suspected. The biopsy should only be done after positive blood tests if celiac disease is not strongly suspected... it sounds like you have good reason bto think it's celiac disease, along with a family history to back you up. Open Original Shared Link I'm guessing...
  15. Yep, you are quite positive - about 4 times the upper normal limit of less than 4... definitely no grey area there. Even if your numbers were lower, you should know that we have celiacs around here who had a completely normal tTG IgA but extensive intestinal damage, and there are some with very high numbers who had very little intestinal damage. I...
  16. I was going to add the tests to ask for but I see I'm too late. I hope the appointment went well.
  17. There are over 300 symptoms of celiac. You have quite a few of the more common ones. I do think you should be tested. I have a young cousin that was diagnosed with celiac disease and his only symptoms were ADD and some cognitive/concentration issues.... That was all. With a list like that, most doctors would test you. Good luck.
  18. I would consider keeping a symptoms / food journal while you re-introduce gluten. For some people, certain symptoms will appear very quickly while other symptoms will creep up and build over time. Keeping a journal for a few weeks, or a month or so, may help you catch any changes. Good luck!
  19. It was probably one of these articles on non-celiac gluten sensitivity (NCGS) that he saw: Open Original Shared Link Open Original Shared Link It doesn't look like a really well done study, IMO. Good luck with him at the doctor's office.
  20. Eek. I wouldn't want to go either. That being said, I ate gluten for close to 40 years with undiagnosed celiac disease and it didn't kill me... but it was close. Starvation is pretty certain within a few weeks to months of no food though.
  21. The Celiac Disease Complete Panel (second test) looks the best to me. Really all it is missing is the EMA IgA, and that one is rarely positive if the tTG IgA is not. Good luck.
  22. It could be celiac disease. Your symptoms could be from celiac disease, and I think you might as well get tested. There are celiacs around here with fewer symptoms than you, so I think it's worth a shot. These are the most common tests. Try to get as many of them done as possible as some tests can show a false negative. tTG IgA and tTG IgG DGP IgA and...
  23. I agree with Lisa, I think you should get more tests done too. Some celiacs are negative in some tests (like the tTG IgA) while positive in others. It is a good idea to get as many tests done as possible in order to get a clearer idea of what is going on. Pages 10-12 of this report discuses the accuracy of the various tests that Lisa listed for you....
  24. Back... As I was saying, 124 is a bit low but it could just be a natural low and will bounce right back up. From what I know, doctors do not worry much about it until your count is below 100, and they start treating it by 50, and quite aggressively treat it if it hits 30. 124 is not too bad. When I had my case of ITP, my count was 2. I do think you...
  25. LOL
