  6. It sounds like cross contamination, but you can't totally rule out bugs etc., I find when I've accidentally been CC'd my stomach can't cope with vitamins as the gut is already damaged. Being in England I don't know what is available where you are to stop you being dehydrated and this is more important than food when you've had such harsh symptoms for so long...
  7. I agree, it's completely normal. Having said that, things do get better as you learn to adjust. I have adopted the 'attitude of gratitude' though, it makes me appreciate what I have got and not what I don't have. It's probably done me a favour, as I look very carefully at what I am eating now, and my diet has improved immensely - I didn't realise how much...
  8. Like other comments on here, I think you have a lot going on and it could be a combination of all the things you mentioned. After I had my children, for months after I lost a lot if hair. Having said that, years later I did find I had an under active thyroid (which can cause the symptoms you have described - there's a very long list!) I also developed diabetes...

  10. Being allergic to something and being intolerant to something are two different things. If it happened 'out of the blue' one day after Christmas, maybe you have reached your tolerance level to gluten/wheat? Have you tried eating gluten/wheat free bread or pasta to see if you can eat that? There are lots of other food choices you could have without wheat,...
  11. It sounds like your room mate has self confidence issues trying to belittle you in front of someone else, and it says more about her/him, than it does about you. I have been diagnosed coeliac but I would always respect someone else's choice if they felt they had coeliac disease - after all it's your life, and your body, and it's you that suffers if you make...
  12. It could be sugar, you are right to be cautious. I am finding I cannot tolerate a lot of sugar. I can't eat gluten free bread either and had wondered if it was the yeast? I have recently started taking dairy free probiotic, have you tried it? With regard to your biopsy, if you have been wheat free for 9 years, unless they are looking for anything else...
  13. I'm sorry to hear you are having a bad time of it at the moment. I agree with other comments already on here. I would definitely get your thyroid checked as those symptoms sound familiar, but it could be a nutritional issue, as the symptoms can be similar - although I'm not a doctor I'm just speaking from personal experience. I urge you to see your doctor...
  14. Welcome to the forum. Have you had your thyroid checked at all? Including TSH levels? Unfortunately if you have one autoimmune disease, the chances of having another are increased. One of the main symptoms I had before my under active thyroid was diagnosed was 50% hair loss (fortunately at the time I had very thick hair). Don't be too disheartened if it is...
  15. You need a vacuum cleaner with a good filtration system and even better a HEPA filter and that should do the trick. I would not advise dampening the plaster first, especially with an upright vacuum cleaner as it could damage the mechanics. For added protection use a face mask, you can also buy these with filters (from a DIY store). Of course, it would be...
  16. Hi! I have nerve damage in various parts of my body, but not sure whether it's relative to my Coeliacs though. My spine damage isn't (severe sciatica because of degeneration in spine) but I have it in a leg (for 30 years) and my arm for about 20 years. I've only been diagnosed as coeliac 11 months.
  17. That's interesting. Last week I had a scare like that too, mine was down the whole side of my right cheek and under my jaw bone to the right side of my neck. It stayed with me until I woke up next morning (having had it from mid afternoon the day before). My mother suggested it could be a silent migraine (I've suffered with migraine for many years but never...
  18. I don't know whether you can get it across the pond, but I use Kingfisher gluten free toothpaste, mit's the only one I dare use as I haven't found any other gluten free toothpaste.
  19. Yes I agree about the diary. I'm making notes on symptoms as I go.
  20. Thank you, it confirms the fact that once we begin our celiac diet, other intolerances come to the surface. I'm still playing detective at the moment and keeping a food diary until the culprit is exposed. I was disappointed that after only a short time on the gluten-free diet that I started to feel ill again, as I was pinning my hopes on a quicker recovery...
  21. Regarding the meat, I didn't eat much at all and my doctor told me to eat more of it as I was severely anaemic and needed iron tablets for ages, my ferritin levels were about as low as they can get. I did eat more meat but I've encountered other problems causing a lot more reflux and GERD (I have a hiatus hernia too). It must be difficult if you don't eat...
  22. You have my sympathies, I am going through something similar myself, and know how hard it is trying to get answers and pinpointing what causes illness. Most of it has been said before, but I was just wondering, as you have given up dairy, have you check the ingredients in Nortryptalene? (and amitriptyline) as in UK this contains lactose and if you are intolerant...
  23. I seem to be going through the same thing as you and I know it gets you down after a while. I think you could be super sensitive like you say. I rang Coeliac UK yesterday here in Britain it's a charity that helps people with the disease. They suggested I spoke to my dietitian about a FODMAP diet. Wonder whether this would help you too? I ended up Googling...
  24. What other things affect you Ron? That's exactly what I'm going through at the moment, and the fretting about it, is only making me worse? Any advice please?
