ARCHIVED Walgreens Lemon Magnesium Citrate
FruitEnthusiast replied to powerofpositivethinking's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
You may have used Mag Cit before. If not, it helps a lot to chill it first and drink it with a straw or even two straws. That way it can go down your throat and practically bypass your tastebuds altogether! It also helps to have a small chaser of fruit juice or something you like ready to go before you start to drink it immediately after. I found these tips... -
I wanted to second this, and add a thanks to all the moderators for being so on top of things, knowlegable, and supportive. This site wouldn't be what it is without you. You're awesome!
-
You look so healthy in that second picture! (what a cute baby pic) I agree that what we are doing to feel better now is making us healthier in the long run. We are going to be the healthiest people because we were forced to be.That's the payoff! At least that's what I believe. I was not diagnosed either. Personally I think if you believe you are Celiac...

ARCHIVED Suddenly Sensitive To Lotion?
FruitEnthusiast replied to FruitEnthusiast's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Ok, so I've re-washed my bedding, towels, everything that's touched my skin. I showered and scrubbed with a washcloth washed in the All free and clear, before using the re-washed clothes. That seems to have helped, but I haven't re-washed my hair and my scalp is still itchy, so I need to wash it again with something fragrance free. I have a generic version... -
ARCHIVED Why Do I Have Symptoms From Activity?
FruitEnthusiast replied to CaliSparrow's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
This is also my theory about why I get so worn out. I like to find comfort in that actually - I'm tired because my body is healing. I find I need LOTS of sleep and when I get too tired I get depressed or anxious. At that point I try to take a nap, sometimes I sleep or other times just being in bed without any TV or music, just being in bed in a quiet dark... -
Rice Is Making Us Sick!
FruitEnthusiast replied to Angelmomh2's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
When I was first diagnosed gluten intolerant, I found I could not tolerate grains of any kind. I haven't tried any of them again yet because I am still recovering and don't want to have problems. I believe there are many people who are able to incorporate gluten free grains back into their diet again successfully and others who are not. Don't know which one... -
ARCHIVED Suddenly Sensitive To Lotion?
FruitEnthusiast replied to FruitEnthusiast's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Yep, as I read all of your posts, and the more I thought about it, I too think the laundry detergent is the culprit and is at least the beginning of the solution. I still had the eebie jeebies all over when I tried to go to bed and it was hard to get comfortable enough to fall asleep. This morning I'm going out to buy a fragrance/dye free detergent to start... -
ARCHIVED Suddenly Sensitive To Lotion?
FruitEnthusiast posted a topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
I've been using Curel body lotion for longer than I can remember, and I like it. Of all the ways I tend to be sensitive, one thing I've never experienced is a problem with products bothering my skin. Yesterday I put in on all over, like always, after my shower and I felt itchy all over, not horrible, but annoying. I knew something was starting to make me... -
ARCHIVED Anyone With Nerve Issues?
FruitEnthusiast replied to CaliSparrow's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Well, this is weird. I'm feeling better and better lately, especially the last few days, and now the neuropathy in my feet has returned. For me it feels like soft vibrating in my heels. Doesn't make sense. This a symptom that has returned a few times before, then dissapeared again. It's never really uncomfortable, but the timing is puzzling. I'm wondering... -
ARCHIVED Need Encouragement
FruitEnthusiast replied to FruitEnthusiast's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Thanks guys This site has always been helpful and people are so supportive. Getting that one harsh post was a jolt, and I temporarily wondered about whether I wanted to post again. I wasn't going to let it stop me, this site means too much to me, but it has done my heart so much good to read your responses. You guys are the best! -
ARCHIVED How To Deal With Losing The Freedom To Eat Out?
FruitEnthusiast replied to HavaneseMom's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Sorry your'e having such a hard time. Try not to be hard on yourself about feeling this way. You are experiencing a loss, and just like any other kind of loss, it's painful. It is a big deal to adjust to no longer be able to have something right now that meant a lot to you. Going on vacation is usually associated with a feeling of freedom to let go and do... -

ARCHIVED Say You Have Celiac Without Dx
FruitEnthusiast replied to patz16's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
In the beginning I really wanted to know if I was Celiac or not for my own closure. I admit it bothers me somewhat not to have a definitive answer, mainly because I like to have answers! I went gluten free before the issue of testing came up so I will never know for sure one way or the other. Now I consider myself Gluten Intolerant because it sounds less... -

ARCHIVED Need Encouragement
FruitEnthusiast replied to FruitEnthusiast's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Wow your description of me sounds like someone else. I am one of the most positive people I know. I keep expecting to be well each time I have a good day because I'm such an optimist. I've had to learn to wait and see if the good lasts or I'm let down. This is one place we can be real about what we are going through. I am so sick and exhausted that I have... -
ARCHIVED Healing Leaky Gut
FruitEnthusiast replied to Quaylern's topic in Food Intolerance & Leaky Gut
I've heard from different sources that L-Glutamine powder is good for healing leaky gut. It's a loose powder you mix into liquid and it's supposed to get into those loose cell connections in the gut and help them tighten back up again. It's tasteless and suspends easily rather than clumping as some powders can. I drink it in plain water. I just started on... -
ARCHIVED Need Encouragement
FruitEnthusiast replied to FruitEnthusiast's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Thank you, yes what I have is an overgrowth of bad bacteria, I think I wont try to give it a name. I cured it once already through diet using alkaline foods, green smoothies, staying away from sugar, I don't even drink juice anymore. It does take time, lots of time. I was doing really well, then I gave my ex husband another chance which threw off my diet... -

ARCHIVED Need Encouragement
FruitEnthusiast replied to FruitEnthusiast's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Thanks so much Irish Heart and Gotta Ski for your input on SIBO. I will look into that further. I hadn't really intended that to be the subject of this post but I really appreciate you catching that. The Doctor's I've seen haven't been too helpful so far, but I can look further to see if I can find anyone with more experience with gluten/Celiac. Looks like... -
ARCHIVED Need Encouragement
FruitEnthusiast replied to FruitEnthusiast's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Not really, I had asked for Dr referrals before. I have a GI and an ND already who have tried their best. Gotta Ski said the Doctors at UCLA were best with newly diagnosed people. I find more helpful info here than at the Dr, anyway so that's why I'm asking for input. -
ARCHIVED Need Encouragement
FruitEnthusiast replied to FruitEnthusiast's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
I tried Metronidazole, but I couldn't take the side effects, bad headaches, and I'm allergic to the other one the Dr recommended, Eurythromycin, so that was a bummer. Yes, I've taken two refrigerated probiotics from a health food store daily for over a year. But, what do you mean, broad spectrum? Mine have Saccharomyces Boulardii + MOS, and the other... -
ARCHIVED Dating Thoughts And Profile Help
FruitEnthusiast replied to powerofpositivethinking's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Wow, all this talk of eating at restuarants and dating is encouraging for someone like me who isn't that far along yet. Something to look forward to! Good idea to share the celiac info on the first date like you have been. Before I was diagnosed I was doing online dating and I already had food limitations and symptoms I hadn't pinpointed yet, and I found... -
ARCHIVED Anyone With Nerve Issues?
FruitEnthusiast replied to CaliSparrow's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
I had to cut out coconut too, but I enjoyed it while I had it! I think I'll get it back in time. My ND said that cheese made from sheep or goat milk is ok, and not like cow's milk. I haven't done anymore research on it so I don't know. I don't dare try it just yet, but it was encouraging to think that one day I might get Romano cheese back. It tastes... -
I’ve been gluten free and recovering from gluten intolerance for almost two years now. I was so sensitive to many other foods too, I’ve been one of the many on here who have had to adhere to an extremely limited diet all this time. Gluten and dairy have been out permanently from the start. I currently eat no grains at all, no nightshades. My diet is ...

ARCHIVED Am I Too Sensitive?
FruitEnthusiast replied to Googles's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
No, you are not being too sensitive. There are a lot of childish boneheads in the world... if only there was a cure for that, oh well. There will always be insensitive, immature people in any workplace, but it's not ok to be teased or to be made to feel uncomfortable where you work. I would say, definitely make your co-workers aware that it is a serious...
