  1. I'm so glad to hear this info! I have really been wanting to try them but was not sure if there might be a possible down side, I didn't want to add anything new into the mix that could throw things off. It sounds like the results are all good so no reason not to try them. This makes me very happy Thanks for including brand names too.
  2. Hey CS Don't know if you were still looking for an answer to your original question about a GI. I just wanted to add that as far as I know, it's the small intestine that gets damaged with Celiac, but it's the large intestine that's checked with a colonoscopy, so it shouldn't matter if the GI knows about Celiac or not. Of course it would be nice to find...
  3. So sorry it's been such a long and painful road. Happy for you that you got the the dx and disability....finally... unbelievable how long it took and what you had to go through in the meantime. We're so at the mercy of Doctors and they can be so clueless!!! ...not to even get started on the insurance companies. I'm sending positive thoughts your way that...
  4. Thanks guys It has taken two years since going gluten-free to get to this place. It is very overwhelming at times. I still have ups and downs. It's hardest when the brain fog and anxiety hit me. Sometimes I have to stop and remember how much I've improved. It did get worse before it got better as it does for many of us but now I can see the positive...
  5. Lucky we have him on tape... wow, puts everything into perspective doesn't it , poor guy. I'm going to look up what happened to him. Life is fragile. Make the most of it!
  6. I have to agree. Everyone here should see that, it is hysterical, boy can we relate. Also, I love that guy, never seen him before. Stand up comedy can be so.... what's the word... un-funny!!! Glad to learn about a good one. Thanks
  7. Seriously, I'm just at the beginning, but I've been through so much already I've developed fortitude. I'm following the low histamine list and I already feel so much better, and it hasn't even been a week. I'm now only eating 0 foods (the lowest histamine foods) Yes, I've yet to have a reaction-less day, but I can feel the difference, I can always tell by...
  8. Ummmm.... I want to change my answer, as they say. I posted recently feeling unhappy. The title was “Tired of Having no Life” and one of the responses I received changed everything. The response said that having a life, or not, is a choice. So, I’m choosing to have one. There’s nothing wrong with a good rant now and then, we all have the right to do t...
  9. OMG, that will take forever!... just kidding. Thanks for the tip. You could write a great book with all the stuff you know! I've finally learned not to be in hurry and enjoy my life just as it is instead of being in a hurry to "get better". I'm much happier this way.
  10. I promise not to make this a place for my own personal critique on everything I watch, but I just wanted to share this one thing because laughter is soooo healing and we all could use that. I watched the most hilarious Ellen Degeneres stand up routine from 2000, called "Ellen, The Beginning" It was so hilarious, I can't think when I've laughed that much...
  11. No, I don't have thyroid issues but I have been tested for it about a million times! I know what I have is a Histamine Intolerance. Something I'd never heard of before a week ago. My diet had been really loaded with high histamine foods before I started over on the low histamine diet. I'm feeling much better. I cooked more broccoli today, fresh from...
  12. I also really enjoy doing for others and have a bit of hard time when others do things for me. I just try and remind myself that I'm worth it and that what I do for others is coming back around to me that day, sort of like it's my turn. I have a hard time when people seem to feel bad eating things in front of me. I just tell them it's nothing to me, I...
  13. The way I look at it, whether Celiac or NCGI, it's never a good idea to mess around with anything regarding our immune systems or inflammation. Our bodies have given us a warning sign. Gluten and intolerances in general aren't something to be taken lightly. That ball can get rolling until it's big enough to crush your life, like it has mine for the time being...
  14. I think some of us are inclined to have histimine issues for whatever reason. I'm the only one in my familiy with allergies though... bees, wool, cats, mold, dust...
  15. Bummer! Those tree pollens and Santa Anas! I don't get the inhalant stuff... so far. The gurgling stomach yes. For me it's hunger from trying to figure out what to eat now. The learning curve is straining my brain. I'm getting the hang of it though! I'm cooking tonight! Hope it's less windy for you tomorrow CL!
  16. Histamine issues are what I am dealing with also. Some may have celiac issues only, but many of us have leaky gut or other gut related problems which opens the door to many other food intolerances. I’m seeing an allergist soon for allergy testing and I assumed that was where I would have my DAO enzymes checked. It sounds like I need to have my GI check t...
  17. Yes, broccoli is listed as a low histamine food on every list I’ve checked which is why I ate it. My symptoms were itchy, irritated eyes, headache, achy all over, nausea, slightly swollen throat - same as with the high histamine foods or histamine liberators I’ve been having trouble with. I have an appt with an allergist in two weeks to have allergy testing and...
  18. There are a few of us on here with histamine issues. It's a leaky gut related problem that stemmed from my gluten intolerance. That's why I posted it in "other food intolerances". CC is cc, so I was wondering about the possibility of teflon soaking up things like oil, garlic, soy, like that, just like it could do with gluten or anything else that becmes a...
  19. Thanks for this info, I'll check it out! I'm really glad to hear you are feeling better! I eat chicken breast every day and I have to be careful not to have too much at once, which is actually true in general for me. I do much better with more smaller meals. I make chicken soup, with just bottled water, sea salt, and chicken breasts w/o skin. I let...
  20. This relates to the histamine issues I’ve been posting about. I used a Teflon pan to saute broccoli in olive oil with sea salt, and I had a reaction. I haven't used this pan for awhile, it was used before mostly to stir fry different vegetables, garlic, and soy sauce. I’m wondering if it’s possible to have a cc from using a Teflon pan that’s bee...
  21. Yes, corn is used in so many foods in so many forms. I have been sensitive to it for a long time, but not super sensitive like some are. I found that avoiding foods that are made of mostly corn allowed me to be less careful with the additives on that long list you found, those amounts are smaller. I still get corn in my supplements, (those darn things are...
  22. I have found lists online of foods that contain histamine and that are histamine liberators, so I have those. I'm doing better, as I find which foods are working for me and which ones aren't. I am finding the lists to be mostly accurate for me, sometimes not. I'm still testing foods and as I eliminate the ones that bother me I should be doing better and better...
  23. I like both cilantro and basil a lot. Those are good ideas. It seems almost as if most everything I eat now is making me sick to some degree. The only thing that made me feel good today when I ate is was an apple. I never thought this whole dietary thing could get so much worse. At least I only felt truly bad with a couple things I ate, I can add those...
  24. Thanks for the tip. I know I'll find new tricks like that one to replace the other things. Plain food is really boring I have to say. I'm really tired from my symptoms so it's hard to be starting a new learning curve. It's got get easier I imagine. I'm not a mango fan but pineapple maybe, except some info I read says that's a food to avoid. Cantaloupe could...
  25. OMG, my joy of being of help to others, and relief in finding new information to help myself has disintegrated into depression. I'm starving. I don't know what to eat yet, even though I already went shopping. I keep repeating the same sequence of actions: open the refrigerator, roll eyes, go flop on the bed to watch TV, back to the refrigerator, and so on...
