  1. Hi Carrie, I also have reacted to "gluten-free" things, and have never had an issue with Frank's Hot Sauce. I've only had the original and Chile/Lime varieties.
  2. are you eating a proper diet? that really could be one of the only issues.
  3. i have heard from a handful of people allergic to ragweed they could not tolerate stevia. if you have no other intolerances to those other products, i wouldn't doubt it.
  4. I use Burt's Bee's Hand Salve and Vaseline for very dry skin. My skin is extremely dry and more so at this time of year.
  5. Hi there, I made a dumpling soup the other day, and they turned out exactly the same. The recipe is on my website below if you would like it, however, I just adapted mine with the correct flours and xanthan.
  6. I use Bio-K, and love it. Never would change. I use the Dairy-Free version.
  7. I have a suggestion for you - I, too, live in Canada and close to the border (but in Niagara). Do you have any friends in Michigan area? Sometimes I ship things to a Buffalo friend from Amazon.
  8. hi Chelsea, i've two questions: 1. i've a huge pharmaceutical list with the status many medications. does it have any other names? (gastrocrom isn't on it). 2. have you actually experienced the reaction? if it were a scratch test, it's quite possible it's inaccurate - those are only 50% affective (so says my internist and GI). i'll check the list...
  9. scratch tests for foods are only 50% accurate. i cannot drink wine because of the sulphites and casein. and the alcohol. but otherwise, the aforementioned ingredients.
  10. Two of my favourite places! Brooklin and Bowmanville...
  11. i would also assume it was cross-contamination. breakfast makes me think eggs (in a potentially scratched teflon pan?) or bread (in a toaster)? hope you feel better!
  12. hope that helps! i don't see why not about the vinegar - esp. apple cider. have fun!
  13. i've used the flax replacer method or ener-g (depending on method) for all of my baking with results. just sub it in.
  14. i use bragg's liquid aminos.
  15. 2tired, i have made both of my bread recipes in there both in one, and without, with success. i just sometimes prefer using my mixer - i have a bit of a crush on it
  16. i emailed my sister (who is a chef), and looked throuhg some things i have written down and have some ideas (but i cannot vouch for them... please let me konw though, if you do try them and they work) first recipe: 1 tbsp ground flax 3 tbsp water 1 tsp. salt 1 tsp. sugar 1 tsp. ground mustard 1/4 tsp. cayenne 1 1/4 c. oil 3-4 tbsp. lemon juice...
  17. i am a vegetarian, and do not eat dairy or eggs, also. i've never ate pre-made 'fake' meats and so forth, so i am not sure what to tell you there, but i wanted to say that it's really easy to make your own.
  18. i know some people can have soy in small amounts (like lethicin or protein, as opposed to 'soy beans')... can you?
  19. my homemade flax bread on the site below is the one that all my gluten-eating friends and family says tastes the most like the real thing. it's easy, and you don;t have to toast it, it doesn't crumble, and it doesn't need a bread machine.
  20. Hi Adelle, I am the celiac in my house, too. When I was first diagnosed, I got really ill and moved back in with my family. As a result, we had a completely gluten-free house. My mom went completely gluten and casien free with me, because she has MS, and we heard it could. For my dad, the onyl time he eats gluten is stuff packed for his lunch for work...
  21. carrots have a high GI - are you perhaps sugar sensitive?
  22. thank you for clearing that up. i thought i was going a little nuts.
  23. it was a carob from bob's red mill. i didn't realize the two different plants, despite carob being gluten-free, in general. if you want to pm me, i can help you out with meal plans and so forth. we can exchange emails.
  24. really? i'm not correcting you, i am truly asking - perhaps gluten intolerance can, but celiac disease cannot be cured...i thought? the rest of your statement makes sense to me (can reverse damage, and so forth), but what do you mean by corrected? regarding the rest of the post - i felt this forum and board was helpful for the most part as i realized...
  25. your story sounds so eerily close to mine - even the numbers i was 22 when i was diagnosed, also. what freaks me out about your story is that my lowest was 78lbs, and i teetered around 92 for awhile. i was in the hospital for a long time, and i hear you on frail - my body was bruising itself just from leaning on it. about the weight - are you SURE you...
