  1. for the first eight months or so, only about 7 foods didn't bother me. apples still do, actually. only a few fruit i can down without getting really irritated.
  2. the tingles in your legs, if they are not b12 derived, are probably not MS, unless you have other symptoms, too (esp. optic neuritis). celiacs can get a lot of MS mimiced symptoms. don't worry about that one - and if you are, request seeing an ompthamologist and get an MRI.
  3. conversely, i also get very ill from a minute amount and have never had problems with anything from bob's gluten-free line (i've never had a pre-made mix though, like the brownies, but i use the flours). alternatively, i've tried pacific's hazelnut milk and got very, very ill.

    ARCHIVED Liver Biopsy

teebs, for what it's worth, i see an internist rather than just a GI. (i see both, but it was the internist who wanted the biopsy).
  5. the reason costco cannot label is because they buy out smaller companies and post their name on it... if you look closely at some of their things, you'll notice it. because the companies they buy from might re-formulate, costco would have to keep on their toes, too. in canada, at least, this applies. the "Kirkland" jelly beans are Jelly Belly. Their Kirkland...
  6. there are a few reasons. first, because there is a risk eating out - and taking that risk does not interest me. second, pre-made foods often aren't healthier options. i learned how to re-create everything. third, even before hand, i've always stuck to a whole foods diet. another reason is, i am allergic to rice and buckwheat, and intolerant to casein, and...

    ARCHIVED Liver Biopsy

normal liver enzymes are 40 or lower. mine were above 800 for about 3 months, and i had so many tests done. they teetered to about 250 for three months after that. there was a lot of concern - i had every test known to man, done.
  8. we use costco walnuts and almonds without a problem - i assume they are all manufactured the same.
  9. i had mono when i was in grade eleven and had it so horribly bad. i was in the hospital, taking percocet, on steroids (for swelling in my throat, as it started to close), and missed three months of school. i never felt normal again - lo and behold, celiac arrived.

    ARCHIVED Counseling?

Change that first sentence to 'third' instead of second, and that is the exact same post I would have written.
  12. i make a homemade gingerbread type crust with crushed mesa sunrise + teff flour + earth balance + sucanant. you can crush cookies, i've heard, but i don't want to waste my baking on THAT

    ARCHIVED Question

ONLY gas-x soft gels are gluten free. Their others are not.
  14. CarlaB! In Canada, Smarties are NOT gluten-free... We call what you call Smarties "Rockets". I just want to clear that up in case she is Canadian! In Canada, Smarties are like M&Ms, but they have wheat.
  15. the first day i was diagnosed, i went to their house. they said that all of their things have to be toasted. that might help.
  16. hi emma, kudos on the book. feel free to pm with if you have more questions later on. natural, fresh produce. to 'reverse' your question: 'products' (pre-made) and 'restaurants' are two things i never venture.
  17. shai - that didn't happen to me (eating too much), but because i am a vegetarian, and casein free, and won't eat eggs, and have limited grains (also allergic to buckwheat), i LOVE soy. tofu has always been one of my favourite foods, and i have feared becoming sensitive to it. same with nuts and peanuts... i eat hearty amounts of all three daily. luckily,...
  18. Smart Balance and Earth Balance are the same company. Hopefully someone can answer your query, though.
  19. one doctor told me that... i said, 'then how come i have trouble breathing and get hives when i eat it, followed by diarrhea and stomach pain? there must be some sort of issue with it.' he sort of just stared at me. and so, i did many 'personal' test, including rice of all sorts, with no other foods, and same thing. i do it every few months, as i often...
  20. I use Earth Balance or Soy Garden - both are vegan (therefore, casein-free), as well as gluten-free.
  21. I am quite certain that is the same company as Earth Balance vegan margarine, which I use - that says gluten-free right on the container. I know that all of their butters and vegan margarines are gluten-free, so I would think they would have labelled it. i just checked the website and the cheese shreds say gluten-free.
  22. the Unsweetened ones aren't in Canada.
  23. I make them just like IrishKelly, as I am gluten and casein free, too. However, I make them that way for others, but for me, use quinoa puffs, as I am allergic to rice. It's a nice change!
  24. I'm allergic to rice, and have been from the get-go. It's not really that hard - I've never tried a pre-made gluten-free product though! THAT was frustrating at the beginning. However, if everything is causing you a problem, it might be something else - not every single food. I'm not that much help in that case, but wanted to assure you a rice allergy is...
  25. So Nice Noel Nog is gluten-free. It tastes exactly what I remember egg nog is like (it's a soy milk, I am casein-free). I think Silk makes one, too... But So Nice is really good!
