ARCHIVED The Most Delicious Home-made Gluten Free Bread I've Ever Tasted...
lorka150 replied to mamatide's topic in Gluten-Free Recipes & Cooking Tips
hehe, yes. after i read this i thought my post hadn't gotten posted. those are the only three combinations i have used, but i think i did the rice flour only once, as i'm allergic to it, so i dont eat it then. i also do see that they double up, but amaranth flour is quite expensive, so sometimes, i have to make due because of my other allergies. -
ARCHIVED The Most Delicious Home-made Gluten Free Bread I've Ever Tasted...

larry, i've never used those flour blends, and i created the recipe. not trying to be snarky (it might sound that way), but i wouldn't use those, personally, and expect it to be the same. as we all know, as gluten-free bakers, each flour works differently. that being said, i really would recommend one of the ones i suggested. good luck with the bread! -

larry, in the original version, i used (for the gluten free flour) amaranth or bob's red mill all purpose gluten-free. i've also used rice when making it for other people in a bind, and sometimes i add teff if i am changing the taste. although now that all these others have made my bread, i am sure that there are tonnes of combos floating around. ... -
ARCHIVED Looking For Weight Loss/metabolism Supplements
lorka150 replied to Sweetfudge's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
Supplement do not work - they might be a quick, temp fix, but all it really takes (unless it's something like a thyroid issue) is exercise and eating healthfully. I'm not trying to be an arse - just being honest. A few tweaks here and there is usually all it takes if you have just a bit to lose. -

Yes, I definitely just use 'regular' yeast. Regarding the cookbook - I've love to scratch a few of your brains with my ideas, and get some feedback. If you feel like helping me out (and by all means, you don't have to), it would be grand! In that case, please email me! -

Mine were elevated to ridiculous heights (to the point of hospitalization), and I had a liver biopsy done. I'm sure if there is a problem, your doc will recommend the same.

ARCHIVED Questions From Hubby
lorka150 replied to hapy4dolphins's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Hi Nicole and hubby! One of them being, why is it that since we have been gluten-free that when we do have it now, the symptoms are so much worse? Like when were were having it we were just miserable all of the time, but not so sick we are on the couch. You probably just thought that was the way you were 'supposed' to feel. It was common. And your... -

ARCHIVED South Beach Diet And gluten-free Compatible?
lorka150 replied to elfkin's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
The South Beach Diet, actully, focuses on good carbohydrates - lots of veggies, fruits, and whole grains. It's a good choice, but like any diet, it's just logics - eat whole, fresh foods, avoid processed garbage and added sugars, and eat balanced portions of carbohydrates, good fats, and proteins. Combined with exercise, it's the basic lifestyle change... -
ARCHIVED Spices
lorka150 replied to kbabe1968's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
I called Frontier in about July, and they said that all of their spices had 'no added gluten' but it was in the same facility, on the same lines, and they do not test in between. I was fine, and then I bought one (it might have been a fluke) and got quite sick (it was definitely the spice, I re-tested it on myself to make sure that is what it was). Anyway... -

lorka150 replied to mamatide's topic in Gluten-Free Recipes & Cooking Tips
I do have tonnes more that I haven't posted. I don't make buns often, but I made them once (adapting from this recipe), and they turned out nicely, except a little mishapen! I'll dig up the recipe. I should post what I make more often. Thanks again for all of the encouragement. -
