  1. With your artichoke dip, on a small scale I would do rice crackers. Carrots and celery would be more economical.

We just had a wedding for my daughter in June for 400 of my closest and dearest friends. :o

Just remember that you don't have to have a great deal of food, just enough to nibble. I would also recommend that you have several food areas. People like to nibble and talk. One long buffet table would cause a congestion.

    Here is what we served:

Seasoned Smoked Pork Tenderloin, with various mustard's, and wild rice

Smoked Whole Salmon served with a Caesar Salad, Crackers (you could have it on your salad or

on a cracker with cream cheese.

Various cheeses, pates and fruit on large marble slabs

Fresh tomatoes, mozzarella with balsamic dressing.

    Strawberries dipped in chocolate

    Grooms Cake (a southern thing)

    Wedding Cake

We had three food stations, with small luncheon plates and every food station could create an entire meal. The wedding was at 5:30 so we needed to have some hearty food.

Best of luck to the two of you

Oh, instead of a mash potato bar, you can boil or roast some baby red potatoes and season with Mrs. Dash and olive oil and use toothpicks to eat..

  2. Jerri:

I am sorry that you have had it so rough. How were you diagnosed?

What are you doing regarding the gluten free diet.? Dairy offen can cause intestinal distress. Have your checked all your toiletries. After 18 months, I would assume that you have check for hidden gluten. If diligent, you should have felt a great deal of improvement.

Celiac, as I am sure that you know can be controlled solely by dietary restrictions. Have you been diligent with that?

There are other things that can mimic celiac symptoms.

I am sorry for so many questions...

  3. Wow, it's great to hear another success story.

This Site has been a life-line for me for so long and every day I learn a little bit more. I stumbled here almost two years ago trying to google this strange thing that I was diognosed with.

I have learned so much from those that came before me as well as after me. The vast knowledge of so many, whether they know it or not, has helped so many people.

And another side line benefit is that I have made so many friends here and other than a few, I have never met. :)

It's always been a safe place to fall - someone will always pick you up.

  4. That is what i thought, but i guess i was hoping they could tell something. She does not have medical insurance right now because of variuos pre-existing conditions, so no one will take her. So she cant just get lots of test done. But the dr she went today wants her to do an colonoscopy so i was hoping they could look for celiac at the same time.

Is an colonscopy used to look for crohns, or is that an endoscopy to.

    paula

Yup, colonoscopy can indicate crohns in the large intestines.

  5. My gastroenterologist is a huge gluten-free diet fan. He's been to seminars all over and has seen so many cases where everything seems normal including blood tests, biopsies, etc and yet the patient responded to the diet. He feels that's the only reliable "test" and believes that someday the science will catch up with what they're observing.

Wow! How lucky you are to have such a wise doctor. :)

  6. Someone on this board a while back before I started visiting posted a long discussion about how some still feel symptoms many months after going gluten-free. I was recently diagnosed in Feb and really took her research into yeast overgrowth to heart b/c the symptoms are so much the same. I am now eating a very large container of plain yogurt with fresh fruit every two days. I am hoping that will help me greatly. Momma Goose however is the Board Expert so I would also look into the things she's suggesting. I know...some days it's like trying to avoid air. Hang in there!

Oh My. I don't think anyone is an expert at this stuff. You did bring up a very good point in that there can be other things here working and bacteria overgrowth is a possibility.

  7. Hi, I was wondering if anyone knows if a generic drug substituted for prilosec is gluten-free. It is called omeprazole, made by sandoz(geneva). I looked, but can't find any info on it and my pharmacist is no better than a piece of ....

Also, I read that wallgreens brand is ok. I need to take an 81 mg. aspirin everyday and can't find one that is guaronteed.

    Can anyone help?

    Omeprazole is gluten free.
