Jennifer:
Thank you for checking in again. It seems like it's been a long time since you have been here, or perhaps never posted much.
I had hot flashes when I was 35, and perhaps that may be young, but not unusual. You could be staring Peri menopause. My Peri-symptoms lasted about 10 years.
If you feel uncomfortable about introducing gluten into you diet and if you feel a difference in you system, simply avoid it.
Your gut is your second brain and it can tell you a great deal of things is you just listen.
You may have a gluten allergy and feeling the effects of what you have been eating.
The bottom line is, if it makes you feel bad, stop eating it.
I hope that this was helpful.

NEWS:
In case some of you have not crossed over to the other threads today.....Watch the "View" tomorrow. Elizabeth is "coming out" as Celiac and they are doing a segment about Celiac. (Friday morning as posted)

Just though ya should know, if not already.

How awful to be in pain like that.
I was thinking that it may be a perforated ulcer. When stomach acid seeps into your body, it can be very painful.
I am glad that you mom is there with you. Please let us know how you are doing.
Thinking about you.

A stone is a British unit equal to 14 pounds. Six stone and five would be 89 pounds.
How cool Peter that you would know. I asked my husband and he knew the reference, but not to calculate. I am impressed. As once again, a wise man

Jerry:
I do believe that stress can be a trigger. I had "IBS - I Be Stumped" for as long as I can remember.
During some HIGH stress business, celiac kicked in ONE day and I could not leave the house for two months. Sometimes I needed to get to the bathroom in ten seconds and it was eleven seconds away.
Yup, stress is a very bad thing in many ways.

I wanted to thank Nancy and Rachel for their research and their willingness to share with all of us.
I have been feeling very poorly this past month. While reading some of the research that Nancy made available, I came across a possible reason for this.
"Long term use of antacids effects and hinders the absorption of B-12".
I have been taking 2,500mcg of B-12 (sublingual) for three days and the fog is lifting, I feel more alert and the shaking has stopped. It has also saved me significant money for further testing. Currently, additional B-12 appears to be the "cure".
So, I just wanted them to know how much the research presented here for us to learn is truly appreciated. Rachel has never failed to give be a very detailed answer to my questions. I recall her saying, "that if it makes one person feel better, it's worth it". Thank you both.
I am very happy to be the the recipient of their work.
Thank you.

Cris:
Someone actually posted something regarding this. The curiosity on my part was that men could use then for a two week period without changing, but women could use this product for three weeks.
But, then, why would I be curious. I know the answer.

B: Funny concersation, but do tell us how your appointment went.
OK, back to the funnies.

I certainly understand your reluctance to use these products. I don't think that I have ever received as response from a company that requested a doctor to pursue the inquiry. I can see my doctors face as I ask him to call or write to a company to see if a product was safe for me. That is totally absurd.
I do think that if you break the products down and ask for specific product information, you will get a more detail response. And certainly, more satisfactory.
I know that Neutrogena has certain products that are gluten free and confident that Crest is a non issue for celiac. Loreal Shampoo is also gluten free.
I have found that specific product information works well for me.
Thank you in you effort in contacting P&G. I am sure it took quite some time.
-
I am not familiar with that. Is there any information that you can post?
-
Elizabeth:
I know that our bodies tell us things and it's up to us to figure it out. Apparently, there is a lack in something that you body is asking for. You should not be hungry after a meal.
I don't know how to answer you questions, but there sure are a heck of alot of peeps here that can.
I will defer to them.

I just noticed....
Happy Birthday and I hope you have a wonderful day.

Oh yeah, Mango has a very valid point. I most likely would not be wise to introduce a new product when you are away from home. Thank you Mango for pointing that out.
-
Momma Goose, thanks for the encouragement. I really do appreciate it.
Those sound like good suggestions. Is McCains oatmeal okay? I haven't had oatmeal since my diagnosis and I REALLY miss it. Where do I find it?
It is my understanding that McCains are gluten free and cross-contamination is not an issue as they are grown in dedicated fields and dedicated processing lines.
Perhaps other will post as it has been subject to discussion here several times.
-
Thank you for sharing that information.
Although, not all the products that you listed contain gluten. All flavors of Crest are gluten free according the the 2006 Delphi Forum Product list. I would like to check on some of the others.
Back later.

I am sure that you will be fine on your mission trip. It is nice to know that mission work is still continuing. What a gift that you bring.
Make sure that you put some Imodium in your travel bag, just in case.
A few suggestions:
Thai instants soups, just add boiling water
Peanut Butter
Lots of Fresh Fruit
McCains Instant Oat Meal
Gluten Free Rolls
Hillshire Farms Luncheon Meat
Sweet Potatoes, White Potatoes (micro)
I hope you have a wonderful and fulfilling time.

I have witnessed more random acts of kindness from people on this board than anywhere else.
Case in point:
A few weeks ago, I received a rather large box in the mail. In that box was a light that specializes in helping those with SAD (Seasonal Affective Disorder). Those who know me know that from November to February, I am a write-off. I have to admit, I was skeptical about light therapy, which is why I never really pursued it, but this person was quite adamant that I try it. I will admit now, that I am quite surprised at how much it is helping..... and I would never have had this additional tool to combat it without this person going the extra mile and sending it to me.
It is exactly what people on this board do: Take care of each other.......
This person would kill me if I named her, so I won't, but let's just say she's the cutest little rodent around! LOL!
Hugs.
Karen
Yup, she's gonna kill you!

I personally would like this thread to be shut down. The header and the sub liner indicates that there is flour in toilet paper. That pretence has been disproved, sighting the prevalence in research presented in this thread. Therefore, it is a documented a non- issue regarding Celiac.
It is an unnecessary concern to the new ones that may inquire here, that they have to travel through over 4,000 views and I don't recall the posts, to get to the answers. That is not realistic, nor is it fair to know whether toilet paper is safe to use.
With over 4,000 views, it is obvious that every one wants to watch the controvery. Yeah, good entertainment.
I would like to request that this thead be closed as not to confuse those that will come behind us.

Welcome to the Club!
I am sure that you will learn more when the biopsy returns and you can sit and chat with your doctor.
I just wanted to add one thing. There is no "Mild Celiac". You either have it or you don't. And, by what you wrote, you have Celiac.
The "mild" is referred to the amount of damage done to you intestines. So consider yourself lucky that you were diagnosed without a great deal of damage. If you do well on the diet, you recovery time will be less than some.
I am sure that you find this as a relief. You can control your health by a diet change, rather than taking pills for the dreaded other ailments.
I am happy for you.
