  1. Yup...This is our annual event. We usually have about 20 people over. The guys watch the game the girls watch the commercials.

    This year:

Pork Tenderloin with Paul Prudhomme's dry rub. (on the grill)

    B&B Baked Beans -doctored up

    Large Salad

Gluten cornbread for the others. (someone else makes)

    Easy

    My daughters birthday also.

  2. Ahem....we need a picture of the Goose. We've waited long enough :P

Hmm..with duress, I will work on that issue. If I can e-mail a pic to someone, could they work to post this pic? Computers and I don't understand each other. And, I am please to do what I do. Karen so wonderfully found the best, most glamours goose that I have ever seen.

My father always said to me "the expectation is always greater than the realization". In this case, how true.

I will work on the realization.

  3. Teresa:

I am sorry that you are feeling bad today.

Some times we just have to listen to our own bodies, no matter what others tell us.

You might not have celiac, which is indicated by the flattening of the villi in the small intestings. I am sure that you know that. You may have a gluten sensitivity, which is corrected with the same diet.

I too have found that the longer I am gluten free, the more sensitive I am to gluten, where as, I may not have been in the past.

This too shall pass, in the most literal way.

OOps, I missed the self-diognosed information. Thank you Patti.

    Welcome to the board!

Many of the symptoms that you have described can be attributed to Celiac. Many people often grain weight. In my case, I lost weight.

Diabetes is also associated with Celiac. If you scroll down on this sites home page, there are many article about Celiac Disease and related disorders.

If in fact, you do have Celiac, the only true cure (it is never cured, it is managed). is to be totally gluten free. This also included lipsticks, shampoos, toothpaste and many products have hidden gluten in their ingredients.

Should you or your doctors suggest testing, you must remain on gluten to achieve accurate testing.

We all know how overwhelming it can be in the search for good health.

If you have any question, always feel free to ask.

  6. Jessica, this is a good thread. Thank you for starting this.

I don't intend to be about me, we all can do these things.

Have you ever been behind a low income person, buying a loaf of bread and a package of sandwich meat in a grocery line. They put back the meat because of lack of funds. I paid for the man's sandwich meat. It cost me almost nothing and he would not be hungry.

There is an older Viet Nam Vet, in a wheel chair, who hangs around a convenience store here. When I go there, I buy him a cup of coffee. I don't know his name and he quietly tells me thanks.

These are simple gestures on our part, but, they can mean so much to others.

We hosted a foreign exchange student so she could experience this part of the world. THAT gesture will NOT be repeated. :(
