  1. Yes, I agree with everyone else.

If you see health improvement by going gluten free, then, by all mean continue.

And additional note, please make sure that you personal products are gluten free as well. This includes lotions, lipstick (gender related), toothpaste and shampoos. If you need some safe product information to start you on your way, please ask.

So glad that you are doing well.

  2. I also would like to welcome you to the board. You appear to be a delightful young woman.

Sometimes it is easy to follow the flow. And some times you need to step out of the forest to see the trees. I think that Karen and others have done that.

I think (yes Electra, I think :) ) that since your first thread was a little controversial on soy, it appeared, as others that have come before, with a hidden agenda. You did not give the impression of a typical "newbie", scared and frighten by being diagnosis with a disease that many have never heard of.

If, I in any way was rude or hurtful, I apologize.

  3. wow I have been looking up the dangers and benefits of soy for the last couple of hours and I'm shocked. I genuninely thought soy was very healthy, but it seems as though there is a lot of evidence to the contrary. It seems as though soy can cause all kinds of autoimmune problems and although it may give you a lower chance of some cancers it gives you a higher chance of autoimmune type cancers (like stomach and intestinal cancers)!!

I'm glad I'm not fond of soy, but I'm sure there is a ton more evidence out there that supports both sides of the spectrum.

It sucks to live in a nation that allows marketing and profits to overwhelm us with the positives without giving us the negatives in the same clear fashion.

Hopefully none of the negative things I've read about soy are true!!

This is a Celiac. com message board. You need to chill on your personal issues and your political stance. We are here to help people, not join people on a personal band wagon.

Alot of people depend on our recommendations and we need to be 100% in that. If you cannnot claime that, you have no need to post here. Recommendation are very serious. "I think" carried no weight here. We deal in facts.

  4. I was curious if other were experiencing the same thing.

Over the holidays, I talked to a lot of people, that had heard that I was on a medical restrictive diet. Several people inquired. Most were well meaning, concerned and interested. Several others approached me and asked about the diet and said that they are going to try it.

"I have hear that this is the NEW diet and I am going to TRY it for the new year." (As is stared at them and wanted to throw up on their designer shoes)

I do think that dining gluten fee is on the upswing. Whether it be gluten related of popular request, I don't know how it's happening but as long as it's happening is all good with me.

I do think that gluten free dining , aside from those of us who require it, is a fad diet that is growing in strength.

I am curious if others have found this same response.

  5. Angie:

There is a connection between Raynaud Syndrome. This is one of the "sideliners" of celiac. I guess I made up this word "sideliners" - you go about your business to be gluten free and sometimes the "sideliners" get you.

Sometime, your fingers or toes go white and loose circulation. They go white, loose feeling, then turn hot and burn. This may be a "sideline" to celiac, but not necessarily a symptom of celic, but also in association with.

I hope this will be helpful.

  6. Surgery can certainly be a trigger for Celiac to kick in.

I am glad that you doctor thought enough to do a celiac panel on her. But, I understand that they can rule in Celiac, but cannot rule it out. It's refered to a false negative.

It should not take long to get her result back. Then you will know which direction to turn.

I wish you both comfort while you wait.
