  1. Hi Everyone- angie, your "big girl" is sooooooo cute. OMG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Lisa- You're getting your lobster! Yeah!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :D :D :D :D When are you going to come up here and eat some with me?

Laura- yeah, 2.5 years can feel like 40!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!Ugh!

Resolutions? I resolve not to make any. :P :P

Actually, that's not true. I resolve to either go back to yoga or ballet. i need the exercise and my back needs the posture focus!

I just wanted to say HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! in case I don't make it back on. I'm currently sitting her in a FLEECE toga (I'm not gonna be cold!!!!!!!!!!!!!!) and yes, I will take pictures and post them.

Love and       to all my peeps and really, Peace on Eearth. God Bless Everyone, no exceptions.

Angus says, "Woof, woof grrrr, woof!" which is Aussie Shephard speak for he loves you all too!

B: can I get there without going through New York, that totally sucks. Hey, you come down here bring the lobsters and we can enjoy the Outer Banks. Such a deal? and as Karen would say "eh". OOOOh let's roust her.

  2. Rusla will be here around 9 EST.

I will be here about, until the lobster is cooked......drooling as we speak. We hate big parties or even small ones on New Years Eve. I think it's a throw back to when I never had a date on New Years Eve. We like it alone and quiet. Quiet it is except for the snorring from the chair next to me. :P

  3. I wasn't suggesting taking salt in water like I am for Lyme, but using salt regularly on food. Salt is our primary source of iodine, which is necessary for thyroid, but if you're using sea salt, you need to get iodine from another source. Salt is also a necessary nutrient that MOST people get too much of, but people eating a healthy diet often don't get enough since it's taboo to use salt.

    Carla:

I understand and I do agree with this post. But without knowing someone's medical history, I think that we should be cautious about suggesting things. What may work for you, may not for someone with a heart condition, blood pressure problems or cholesterol issues. We are not doctors.

I do appreciate your concern and helpfulness here on this forum :)

Rebecca, I do hope that you warm up soon. :)

  4. Thanks I will google him now. I don't use salt hardly at all. So sea salt I will get some and use it.

Is it a specialty item or does any store carry it?

    Rebecca:

I would recommend that you discuss this with your doctor. What may work for Carla, may not be the thing that you should do. :) Perhaps your doctor could look into checking your thyroid.

  5. Welcome to the Board:

Celiac Disease take an average of 11 years to diagnosed. So it is highly likely that your doctors could have missed it.

It can be diagnosed through a blood test, and endoscopy exam with biopsies or some eliminate gluten from their diet and see a positive result.

Gluten is a protein found in wheat, barley, rye, malt and oat may also be a problem.

If your course of action is to pursue testing, you must remain on a gluten diet until testing is completed. Should you decide to try gluten free, you have to go back to the basics. Chicken, beef, fish, potatoes, rice, fresh veggies. Eliminate seasoning except salt and pepper.

There is tremendous information on this site and I would encourage you to read, read and read some more. There are so many very informed people here who are willing to answer the simplest of questions.

I do hope that you can find the solution to your illness soon. If we can help in any way, please feel free to ask away.

    Lisa

  6. Lisa, girl, you know I'll be here :) Someone apparently has to keep you entertained while Jim is sleeping, right ;)

Do I hear him snoring already?

Better snoring, than over my shoulder......ya know what I mean ? <_<

No, I guess you don't. Answer the question when you have been married 27 years. <_< (I love this icon)

    I know I have a witness?????

  7. I have NO idea what this means, but I gotta tell ya.....it sounds naughty!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Jess- You look so beautiful in your picture!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Because, Miss Bev, you silly girl, I did not want to go through the two second effort to spell check Champagne. Christmas is over and I'm lazy...so cut me some slack jack. B)

I guess a good chilled Champ. would be good, but I would prefer a warm one. :P

  8. Tippy:

Most newbies identify themselfs as such. As I have seen, most if not all get a welcome. We have a wide variety of people who specialize in their duties. Some are welcommers, some are good with products and some have the technical abilities.

It does seem to work well. But I do understand your thoughts though.

  9. Gluten is a protien contained in wheat, barley, malt, rye and most oats due to a high rate of cross-contamination.

They key to remaining gluten free is to learn to read lables. It's a tough ride for a while, but it gets better.

Gluten often plays hide and seek, as it can hide in envelope glue, soy sauce, some spices, lipsticks, lotion, shampoos

    Here are a few starters:

Vann's waffles (have gluten free variety)

    La Choy Soy Sauce

    Jiff Peanut Butter

All of Mrs. Dash seasonings are gluten free

McCormick Spieces will list wheat on their ingred. list

Stick to fish, meats, chicken, rice, potatoes, and fresh veggies.

Processed food is to difficult to tackel at the moment.

Gluten free bread is awful, except for Angies (a forum member), but few have her gift.

As I mentioned before, do a members search for "Nini" and click below her signature and you will be able to down load several files that, at this time you can't live without.

Good luck, and feel free to PM me at any time.

  10. I'm glad your eyes are getting better.

I've had problems with re-wetting drops too... I was very careful checking out the ingredients when I bought them, but they definitely stung and made me light sensitive (so they probably caused dilation). I don't know why. Guess maybe we're stuck with dry eyes.

    :lol::lol::lol:

    All better now, thank you.

  11. Although in this case it sounds more like an allegic reaction gluten can be absorbed by the mucous membranes and could get into the bloodstream and brain through those membranes. If a person has neurological impairment because of the celiac this would be more of a problem because the GI tract may not be as adversely effected.

I think that you are correct. It takes more consumed gluten for me to react intestinaly. But in the year and a half that I have been dealing with this, the slightest amount can effect me neurologically. We traditionally do a pot-luck Christmas Dinner and as I tried to eat what is known, I am certain that gluten slipped in somewhere. Since, I have been, as my husband calls me "spring-loaded", sort of an edgy feeling.

Off topic, but the dilation is going away and the vision is clearing. It should be ok in the am.

Thanks for all of your impute.
