  1. Brain fog is more serious than we make lite of it. I have two serious months of nothing feeding my brain and I do see results of that. It has changed my life. I often wonder where I am driving when I am going to the grocery store. I constantly remind myself that I am in the mist of traffic and I need to pay attention. I use my computer to write personal notes, because I can rely on spell check, and I don't remember what I cooked last night for dinner. I ask my children to repeat conversations and it pains me that they don't understand. They try.

I am a different person since Celiac entered my life. I will be ok and I am well cared for. Alot of me is lost and I don't feel that it will come back.

So..... a message to the newly diognosed, be diligent and do the things that you need to to to regain your life again.

DON'T LET THIS TAKE YOUR LIFE AWAY.

  2. I find that interesting ... after talking to another site member, in person, we discussed just that.

All my life, (adult life), I have never liked milk, beer, pasta, bread, donunts and always orderded hamburgers and hot dogs without the bun. Maybe, I am one of the weird ones, but I feel that my body was trying to tell me something..... all this pre-dx.

I now find myself going back to tomato products as, V-8 Juice with our own North Carolina Peanuts (planters should be ashamed of themselves), citrus and kielbasa and lots of starch.

If any one wants to taste the best peanuts in the world, pm me and we can send them out (after the wedding- 31 days and counting down)

OH YEAH, I CRAVE BANANAS TOO....FORGOT WHY I POSTED.:blink:

  3. My adivse to you would be to go on a totally gluten diet and request that your doctor do an endoscopy exam of your small intestines. By the time it is scedules, it could take up top three weeks and you can consume your full share of gluten, which may result in a positive result from the exams.

If you feel better on the gluten free diet, well, just continue. I was feeling so bad that I felt that I had to go to a GI specialist, as I was concerned about cancer and had no knowlege about Celiac.

It all depends if you want a dx. I would suggest that you go as there are other concerns with intestinal malfunctions other than Celiac. Check that out and being dx with Celiac is truley a blessing in discuise.

Good luck and keep us posted. Lisa

  4. This may sound a little trivial to you, but, I always have a large container of cooked brown rice in the refer. and I add it to every meal that I eat.. To me it works well. I don't know if that will solve your problems. I do remember years ago when I would be bending over in a cold sweat with what I could relate to labor pains in my abdomin and then finallly to pass what was in me. I thought that I would pass out. Dr. said is was severe IBS (I, Be Stumped?)

Honestly, I don't know when my Celiac started, but I do know when the "high" symptoms kicked in....and I can recall the date. Apparently, I was a-symptomatic, with the genetic link for many years.

Everyone if different here and there are many stories and few are the same. So it is a puzzle that we have to put together for ourselves. There is knowledge here, but we also have to do our own reseach for find what fits our need to make us better.

Hope this will be helpful, Lisa

  6. Karen,

Sorry that I am so late responding. Have not been on the computer for several days, as it's been a little hectic here. I know that you are disappointed that no solution was found but your a trooper and I feel that there is one just around the corner. So keep the faith girl.

When you get down, just remember that you are the official God-Mother of our Celiac world. You pick us up when we're down, you cry with us when the tears just come, you make us laugh at ourselves and you have an incredible sence of justice, caring and faith. So cheers to you and that happy husband of yours.

    Love ya, Lisa :):):)

  7. Don't ever let this disease steal your life. Don't let it. The power is within you, and grab that chance to be free of it. I know that it follows with other issues, but try to grab the strenth and be taller than the issues.

I know that is easier said than done. No one can know what you life is until they walk in your shoes, but there is something that I have learned from this Board... Celiacs are NOT QUITERS, and very opinionated., I may add.

We are stong people and I know that you are one of us.

    Keep on keeping on. Lisa

  8. Boy, your got it made girl, with the family support that you have. I agree with others that your doctor is short of idiot. Some people feel that they need a diog. to know what they have, but if you feel better with the gluten-free diet, well, just continue on. You will be either wheat intollerant or gluten intollerant. My advise to you is to not waste any more money on the doctor you went to, he can't help you because he is clueless of the disease.

Good for you for a strong support system in you family. That will carry you a very long way. Good luck and feel free to ask any questions you have about Celiac. There are no dumb questions here.

    Lisa

  9. I don't have it in my house, so I can't check the ingredence. Read what it contains..if it is not wheat, barley, rye , malt and maybe oat. .....it's ok.

Once you know what to look for, life in Celiacland gets alot easier. You learn to read lables and know what product will lable well. It does become easier with time.

Hope this was helpful - Lisa

Oh... I forgot to say...THERE ARE NO DUMB QUESTIONS HERE.

  10. B:

I started early peri-med when I was 35 and that lasted about 10 years and then every thing stoppped.

Hot flasheds, breast tenderness, -itchness and then my period slowed down to nothing and eventually stopped. Now at 51, I cant remember a period in six years or so. I have always heard that if you started late, you will stop early. I don't know any medical reasoning for that. Yeah for me.

Also, if you have been on the pill for a while, it will reduce you cycle down to almost nothing. I don't know if Celiac has anything to do with the hormone cycle. I you have not already done so.. and if you do.. try going off b-controll and maybe you both can make a baby. :):)

    Love ya, Lisa

  11. lani:

Several of our friends here are from the land down under. Start a new post and asked "Oussies out there, please post"...You will be suprized how many hits you get from here.

The gluten free menu is hard in the beginning, but it gets much easier as time goes by. If you have any specific question, all of us would be glad to help. That's why were are here, to help each other.

Welcome to the world of Celiac Disease. You can learn so much by reading the posts here, far more than any doctor can tell you. Best of all, you can talk frankly here. As you can see from the posts here, we talk about everything.

So....ask away. If one person cannot answer your question someone else will.

Hope to hear from you again. - Lisa

  12. I started peri-metapause when I was in my mid 30's and now well done with a cycle.

In past years, being on the pill for an extended period of time grately reduced my period until there was nothing. Went off the pill and it regulated itself.

Everyone is different. It's kinda nice not having to bother with it anymore and my husband says I am no longer a B--ch. (at least most times)
